Background: Erector spinae plane block (ESPB) is a promising technique for effective analgesia. It is still uncertain if ESPB offers the same opioid-sparing effect as thoracic paravertebral block (PVB) in midline incision for upper abdominal surgery.
Methods: The study is a prospective, bi-center, randomized, controlled, non-inferior trial.

Objective: To explore the effect of scalp nerve block (SNB) combined with intercostal nerve block (ICNB) on quality of recovery (QoR) after deep brain stimulation (DBS) in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD).
Methods: We conducted a prospective randomized controlled trial in which 88 patients with PD were randomly assigned to undergo SNB combined with ICNB (SNB group) or not (control group) before surgery. The primary outcome was the 15-item QoR (QoR-15) score 24 h after surgery.

Objective: This review aimed to summarize the role of the Hippo signaling pathway in renal cell carcinoma (RCC), a urologic malignancy with subtle initial symptoms and high mortality rates due to metastatic RCC. The Hippo signaling pathway, which regulates tissue and organ sizes, plays a crucial role in RCC progression and metastasis. Understanding the involvement of the Hippo signaling pathway in RCC provides valuable insights for the development of targeted therapies and improved patient outcomes.

Hematologic adverse events (AEs) are common and serious toxicities in patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing blinatumomab therapy. However, restrictive selection criteria in pivotal clinical trials can lead to an underestimation of rare but fatal toxicities. In this study, we systematically analyzed hematologic AEs associated with blinatumomab using the Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) from October 2014 to December 2023.

In a retrospective analysis of clinical data from 587 DLBCL (diffuse large B-cell lymphoma) patients in China, 13.8% of cases were associated with HBV (hepatitis B virus) infection, leading to distinct clinical features and poorer prognosis. Moreover, HBV infection has a more pronounced impact on the survival of the GCB (germinal center B-cell-like) type DLBCL patients compared to the ABC (activated B-cell-like) type.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly aggressive malignancy with increasing global prevalence and is one of the leading causes of cancer-related mortality in the human population. Developing robust clinical prediction models and prognostic stratification strategies is crucial for developing individualized treatment plans. A range of novel forms of programmed cell death (PCD) plays a role in the pathological progression and advancement of HCC, and in-depth study of PCD is expected to further improve the prognosis of HCC patients.

Inflammation and coagulation cascades are closely correlated with cancer occurrence and progression. This study investigated the prognostic value of the combination of plasma fibrinogen level and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (F-NLR) in patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC). The predictive ability of the F-NLR for overall survival (OS), cancer-specific survival (CSS), and progression-free survival (PFS) was initially established and then further validated in patients who underwent radical nephroureterectomy (RNU) for UTUC.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the underlying relationship of diagnosis and therapy between glutamine-fructose-6-phosphate transaminase 2 (GFPT2) and various cancers.
Methods: The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database was utilized to get gene expression RNAseq and clinical data for 33 tumors. The immunotherapeutic cohorts, including GSE35640, GSE78220, GSE67501, GSE181815, and IMvigor210, were derived from the Gene Expression Omnibus database (GEO) and a previously released article.

B cells are crucial component of humoral immunity, and their role in the tumor immune microenvironment (TME) has garnered significant attention in recent years. These cells hold great potential and application prospects in the field of tumor immunotherapy. Research has demonstrated that the TME can remodel various B cell functions, including proliferation, differentiation, antigen presentation, and antibody production, thereby invalidating the anti-tumor effects of B cells.

Purpose: To assess the diagnostic performance of [Ga]Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 PET/MR imaging in the preoperative evaluation of pancreatic cancer and compare it with that of [F]-FDG PET/CT plus contrast-enhanced CT (CECT).
Methods: Thirty-one patients with pancreatic cancer underwent preoperative [Ga]Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 PET/MR, [F]-FDG PET/CT, and CECT imaging. Two nuclear medicine physicians independently reviewed two sets of images (set 1, [Ga]Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 PET/MR; set 2, [F]-FDG PET/CT plus CECT) and reached a consensus on tumour resectability, N staging (N0 or N positive) and M staging (M0 or M1).

Background: Cardiovascular events secondary to stroke-collectively classified as stroke-heart syndrome-greatly impair the patient's prognosis, however its underlying mechanism has yet to be determined. To investigate the mechanism of central neuroinflammation and its effects on stroke-heart syndrome, a temperature-ultrasound responsive brain-targeted drug delivery system, DATS/MION-LPE, was synthesized to specifically study neuroinflammation in the mouse middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model.
Results: The specific polymer of DATS/MION-LPE can close the nanoparticle pores at 37 °C, restricting drug release in the circulation.

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of tip-flexible suctioning ureteral access sheath (TFS-UAS) compared to traditional ureteral access sheath (T-UAS) in flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy (FURL) for unilateral upper urinary tract calculi.
Methods: The study retrospectively compared outcomes from 103 cases using TFS-UAS and 138 using T-UAS treated with FURL for unilateral upper urinary tract calculi from January to October 2023. Assessed parameters included patient demographics, stone characteristics, preoperative urine cultures, ureteral pre-stenting, comorbidities, procedure time, stone-free rate (SFR), utilization of stone retrieval baskets, and postoperative Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS) rates.

Background: Exertional heat stroke (EHS) is a critical condition arising from prolonged physical exertion in high temperatures that typically presents with normal hemoglobin levels. However, atypical presentations can also occur, leading to significant complications such as hemolytic anemia and organ dysfunction.
Case Summary: This case report describes a male patient who experienced moderate-to-severe anemia that was difficult to correct, with a confirmed diagnosis of microangiopathic hemolytic anemia accompanying multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, indicative of critical EHS.
