Aims: To develop a novel nanomicelle system to target and eradicate CD133-expressing lung cancer stem cells (CSCs) while imaging lung cancer.
Methods: Averatinib nanomicelles with CD133 aptamers incorporated with gadolinium imaging reagents (M-Afa&Gd-CD133) were synthesized. The anticancer and imaging activities of M-Afa&Gd-CD133 were evaluated both in vitro and in vivo.

Background: Extra-articular distal humerus locking plates (EADHPs) have been widely employed for the treatment of extra-articular fractures of the distal humerus, but interference with the radial nerve and poor fastening of distal fracture fragments by screws remain. The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical and imaging effects of the anterolateral approach in the treatment of extra-articular fractures of the distal humerus with the upside-down use of proximal humerus internal locking system (PHILOS) plates in front of the humerus.
Method: A retrospective analysis (10/2018-10/2022) was conducted on the clinical data of patients with extra-articular fractures of the distal humerus treated with the upside-down use of the PHILOS via the anterolateral approach.

Background: Delayed healing and non-healing of bone defects pose significant challenges in clinical practice, with metal materials increasingly recognized for their significance in addressing these issues. Among these materials, Strontium (Sr) and Zinc (Zn) have emerged as promising agents for promoting bone repair. Building upon this insight, this research evaluates the impact of a porous Sr@Zn@SiO nanocomposite implant on bone regeneration, aiming to advance the field of bone repair.

Background: The effectiveness of using a balloon guide catheter during endovascular thrombectomy in patients with acute ischaemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion of the anterior circulation remains uncertain. We aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of using a balloon guide catheter during endovascular thrombectomy, compared with using a conventional guide catheter, in this patient population.
Methods: We conducted a multicentre, open-label, blinded-endpoint, randomised controlled trial at 28 hospitals in China.

Conventional inorganic semiconductors are not suitable for acting as nanozymes or sonosensitizers for therapeutic nanomedicine owing to the lack of excellent biocompatibility. Biocompatible carbon dots (CDs) exhibit a variety of biological activities due to their adjustable size and surface chemical modification; however, the simultaneous sonodynamic activity and multiple enzyme-mimicking catalytic activity of a single CD have not been reported. Herein, we report the development of bimetallic doped CDs as a high-efficiency nanozyme and sonosensitizer for enhanced sonodynamic therapy (SDT) and nanocatalytic therapy (NCT).

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a motor system immune disease with significant genetic characteristics, resulting in joint fusion, deformity, rigidity, seriously affecting the quality of life of patients. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), characterized by intestinal mucosal damage and inflammatory changes, the most common extra-articular manifestation of AS. Due to the limitations of the application of therapeutic drugs, it is urgent to look for new mechanisms and strategies to effectively inhibit AS inflammation is.

Background: The effect of embolization of the middle meningeal artery in patients with subacute or chronic subdural hematoma is uncertain.
Methods: We performed a multicenter, open-label, randomized trial in China, involving patients with symptomatic nonacute subdural hematoma with mass effect. Patients were assigned to undergo burr-hole drainage or receive nonsurgical treatment at the surgeon's discretion, and patients in each group were then randomly assigned, in a 1:1 ratio, to undergo middle meningeal artery embolization with liquid embolic material or to receive usual care.

Background: The Magnesium depletion score (MDS) serves as a novel metric for quantifying magnesium deficiency in the human body, comprehensively assessing four indicators: diuretic use, proton pump inhibitor use, estimated glomerular filtration rate, and alcohol abuse. However, there have been no studies examining the potential association between MDS and depression.
Methods: The study population for this cross-sectional study comprised adults from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey database from 2009 to 2018.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) lymph node metastasis (LNM) is a crucial factor affecting the prognosis and treatment outcomes of CRC patients. It has been confirmed that altered glycosylation is a key event during CRC lymphatic metastases. Sialylation is one of the most significant glycosylation alterations in tumors.

Fluorescence probes with outstanding merits have wide applications in tumor diagnosis. However, most of these probes can only detect single tumor biomarker, potentially generating "false positive" signals within intricate biological systems. In contrast, the dual-locked fluorescent probes triggered by two response factors can effectively address the aforementioned limitations.

Background: Currently, the applicant has chosen a target plasma trough concentration for nirmatrelvir, which is adjusted to 292 ng/mL based on the drug's molecular weight (499.54 Daltons), its binding to human plasma proteins (69%), and the in vitro antiviral EC value (181 nM). However, the current exposure-effect relationships (ER) analysis of viral load in patients enrolled in the EPIC-HR study has not revealed clinically significant trends in the ER.

Introduction: Reproductive endocrine disorders (RED), including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis (EMs), and female infertility (FI), significantly affect women's health globally, with varying prevalence across different regions. These conditions can be addressed through medication, surgical interventions, and lifestyle modifications. However, the limited understanding of RED's etiology and the substantial economic burden of its treatment highlight the importance of investigating its pathogenesis.

Chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP), with a high prevalence and rising epidemic of opioids crisis, is typically derived from acute postoperative pain. Our knowledge on the forming of chronic pain mostly derives from mechanistic studies of pain processing in the brain and spinal cord circuits, yet most pharmacological interventions targeting CNS came to be unhelpful in preventing CPSP. Revealing the peripheral mechanisms behind the transition from acute to chronic pain after surgery could shine a light on the novel analgesic regimens.

Existing epidemiologic and clinical studies have demonstrated that obesity is associated with the risk of a variety of cancers. In recent years, an increasing number of experimental and clinical studies have unraveled the complex relationship between obesity and cancer risk and the underlying mechanisms. Obesity-induced abnormalities in immunity and biochemical metabolism, including chronic inflammation, hormonal disorders, dysregulation of adipokines, and microbial dysbiosis, may be important contributors to cancer development and progression.
