Objective: This study focuses on the feasible molecular mechanism of the interaction between MALAT-1, CCR7 and related genes in oral squamous cell carcinoma, to find new target molecules that can block the lymph node metastasis.
Methods: The expression of MALAT-1, miRNA-320s, SRSF1, YB-1 and CCR7 were detected in T3/T4-phase OSCC tissues of two groups with or without lymph node metastasis using real-time qPCR. CO-IP and western blot to test the interaction of RNAs (MALAT-1, miRNA-320s) with SRSF1 protein or YB-1 were evaluated by CO-IP, Western blot and real-time qPCR.

Background: Meta-Analyses are the basis of professional and healthcare agencies recommendations and have a growing importance. Quality of meta-analyses has been investigated in some medical fields but to our best knowledge this issue remains under investigated in orthopedics. Therefore, we performed a systematic analysis to: 1) after the introduction of PRISMA statement as a comprehensive guideline and the use of the AMSTAR tool as the standard for sufficient review methodology, has the quality of MAs improved because of that? 2) have some general characteristics influenced the quality of MAs (country, funding source, number of authors)?
Material And Methods: We systematically searched the meta-analyses in the top four journals with the impact factor (2015) as following: JBJS, Osteoarthritis Cartilage Arthroscopy and Clin Orthop Relat Res from 2005 to 2008 and from 2012 to 2015.

Titanium and titanium alloy are widely used as orthopedic implants for their favorable mechanical properties and satisfactory biocompatibility. The aim of the present study was to investigate the antibacterial effect and bone cell biocompatibility of a novel implant made with nanotubular anodized titanium coated with gentamicin (NTATi-G) through in vivo study in rabbits. The animals were divided into four groups, each receiving different kinds of implants, that is, NTATi-G, titanium coated with gentamicin (Ti-G), nanotubular anodized titanium uncoated with gentamicin (NTATi) and titanium uncoated with gentamicin (Ti).

Rationale: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) can affect the hip joint, causing deformity and disability. Total hip arthroplasty can obviously relieve the pain of the hip joint, and reconstruct the function of hip joint. Epidural anesthesia in this patient population has high risk of epidural hematoma, but the reason is unclear.

Purpose: The treatment of HBV-associated glomerulonephritis (HBV-GN) is still a challenge in clinical practice now. The objective of this study was to report the pathological characteristics of HBV-GN presenting with mild to moderate proteinuria and to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of lamivudine (LAM) in combination with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI)/angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) as compared to ACEI/ARB monotherapy.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational study in HBV-GN patients between 2005 and 2014.

The plant homeodomain (PHD) finger-containing proteins have been implicated in many human diseases including cancer. In this study, we found that PHF14, a newly identified PHD finger protein, is highly expressed in lung cancer. The high expression level of PHF14 was associated with adenocarcinoma and poor survival in lung cancer patients.

Background: The Achilles tendon Total Rupture Score (ATRS), which is originally developed in 2007 in Swedish, is the only patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) for specific outcome assessment of an Achilles tendon rupture.Purpose of this study is to translate and cross-culturally adapt Achilles tendon Total Rupture Score (ATRS) into simplified Chinese, and primarily evaluate the responsiveness, reliability and validity.
Methods: International recognized guideline which was designed by Beaton was followed to make the translation of ATRS from English into simplified Chinese version (CH-ATRS).

Background: The aim of the study was to retrospectively investigate the changes in pulmonary function and its influencing factors in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) undergoing preoperative brace treatment or not.
Methods: Total 237 AIS patients (43 boys, 194 girls) who underwent operations and had a complete record of pulmonary function tests were enrolled and were divided into preoperative brace treatment group (brace treatment group, n = 60) and without preoperative brace treatment group (control group, n = 177). The pulmonary function parameters were compared between the 2 groups.

Fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (FBP1), the rate-limiting enzyme in gluconeogenesis, is a tumor suppressor that frequently down-regulated in cancers, especially breast cancer. Here, we provide both supporting and contradicting evidences about the expression pattern and function of FBP1 in breast cancer. Data mining of Oncomine database showed that FBP1 is commonly up-regulated in tumor tissues compared with non-tumor tissues regardless of histological type.

Macrophage activation and persistent inflammation contribute to the pathogenesis of spinal cord injury (SCI), and different phenotypes of macrophages play diverse roles in the pathological process of SCI. After SCI, there is an acute phase of alternatively activated (M2) macrophage infiltration, followed by a long-lasting phase of classically activated (M1) macrophage accumulation in the wound. The long-lasting predominance of M1 macrophages may derail healing and compromise organ functions.

Purpose: Metallic foreign bodies (MFBs) retained in soft tissue may pose potential threats to patient health. Interventional procedures using conventional navigation systems are associated with high rate of radiation exposure. We postulated that the surgical approach visualization and navigation system would offer precise percutaneous localization and linear guidance with reduced radiation dosage and system complexity.

Intervertebral discs (IVDs) are complex structures that consist of three parts, namely, nucleus pulposus, annulus fibrosus and cartilage endplates. With aging, IVDs gradually degenerate as a consequence of many factors, such as microenvironment changes and cell death. Human clinical trial and animal model studies have documented that cell death, particularly apoptosis and autophagy, significantly contribute to IVD degeneration.

Background: This study was conducted to compare the blood loss during primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) between ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and hip osteoarthritis (OA).
Methods: We reviewed 120 THAs in 68 patients comprising 3 groups: AS with total bony ankylosis of the hips (ASB), AS with stiff hips (ASS), and OA. Demographics, perioperative laboratory values, intraoperative data, blood loss, transfusion rate, transfusion reactions, surgical complications, hospitalization cost, and length of stay (LOS) were collected and analyzed among ASB, ASS, and OA groups.
