In recent decades, haploidentical stem cell transplantation (haplo-SCT) to treat severe aplastic anemia (SAA) has achieved remarkable progress. However, long-term results are still lacking. We conducted a multicenter prospective study involving SAA patients who underwent haplo-SCT as salvage therapy.

Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) remains a curative option for severe aplastic anemia (SAA), and transplantation from identical sibling donors (ISD) has been recommended as a first-line treatment. Haploidentical donor (HID) transplantation for SAA has made great advances; thus, an increased role of HID-SCT in SAA should be considered. We performed a national registry-based analysis comparing long-term outcomes in the upfront HID or upfront ISD SCT setting.

A Two-Stage Training Program for Auricular Framework Fabrication Practicing Using Three-Dimensional Printing Silicone Ribs and Porcine Costal Cartilage.

Background: The manufacture of cartilage framework is a key element in the success of total ear reconstruction. Appropriate training can improve cartilage curving and fabricating skills, which is especially helpful for the novice clinicians. Based on threedimensional printing silicone model and porcine rib cartilage, the authors have designed a 2-stage training program to improve skills and cosmetic cognition for ear reconstruction.

Reconstruction of the Defect at Temporal Hairline by a Scalp Keystone Island Flap: Clinical Experience on 14 Cases.

Background: The reconstructions of defects at the temporal hairline always require more complicated designs and higher surgical skills to acquire better aesthetic results. By taking advantage of the unique anatomy of the temporal region, the authors designed a scalp keystone island flap pedicled by superficial temporal fascia to repair defects on the temporal hairline.

Methods: The authors retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 14 patients who had lesions adjacent to the temporal hairline between April 2018 and June 2020.

An Improved EMG-Driven Neuromusculoskeletal Model for Elbow Joint Muscle Torque Estimation.

The accurate measurement of human joint torque is one of the research hotspots in the field of biomechanics. However, due to the complexity of human structure and muscle coordination in the process of movement, it is difficult to measure the torque of human joints in vivo directly. Based on the traditional elbow double-muscle musculoskeletal model, an improved elbow neuromusculoskeletal model is proposed to predict elbow muscle torque in this paper.

The influence of thoracic duct ligation on long-term survival of patients with esophageal cancer: a propensity score-matched analysis.

Background: Ligation of the thoracic duct (LTD) is known to be a useful way to prevent postoperative chylothorax, but its impact on long-term survival is rare to be assessed.

Methods: Data from 609 patients with esophageal cancer who underwent esophagectomy from September, 2012, to January, 2014, were retrospectively collected. The study cohort was classified into two groups: the thoracic duct ligation group (LG) and the non-ligation group (NLG).

Introduction: A comprehensive genomic analysis of paired primary tumors and their metastatic lesions may provide new insights into the biology of metastatic processes and therefore guide the development of novel strategies for intervention. To date, our knowledge of the genetic divergence and phylogenetic relationships among diverse metastatic lesions from cancer remains limited.

Methods: We performed whole-exome sequencing in 84 tissue and blood samples from 26 patients with lung adenocarcinoma having liver metastases (LiM) or brain metastases (BrM) before any systemic therapy, with the goal to molecularly characterize the metastatic process.

Methods: The current qualitative study explored the communication between professionals and COVID-19-infected older adults in the acute care setting through 2 rounds of interviews with physicians and nurses who provided direct care and treatment for COVID-19-infected older patients in Wuhan, China. We explored the possibilities and significance of facilitating effective communication despite multiple challenges in the pandemic.

The use of modified keystone flap in periarticular or large superficial tumor resection surgery.

Background And Objectives: The keystone design perforator island flap (KDPIF) is often used to cover defects in reliable blood supply and similar skin patterns, but its mobility is limited, especially when the wound is large or occurs around joints. Here, we describe a modified KDPIF, boat-shaped flap. We added a V shape along the lateral arc, forming a V-Y flap on KDPIF's outer arc shapes like a sail.

Application of assisted portal under anterior horn of lateral meniscus for the treatment of discoid meniscus injury.

Purpose: The assisted inferior anterolateral portal under anterior horn of the lateral meniscus (UAHLM portal) was applied to treat the lateral discoid meniscus injury conveniently and the clinical outcomes were evaluated.

Methods: A retrospective review was conducted on 60 patients who underwent arthroscopic surgery with a symptomatic discoid lateral meniscus. Normal anterolateral/anteromedial portals assisted with UAHLM portal (1-2 cm inferior to the anterolateral portal) were used.

Vascular remodeling caused by essential hypertension is a leading cause of death in patients, and vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) dysfunction and phenotypic switching result in vascular remodeling. Therefore, inhibiting cell dysfunction and phenotypic switching in VSMCs may be a new treatment strategy for essential hypertension. The aim of the current study is to explore the roles of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) MRAK048635_P1 in VSMC function and phenotypic switching.

Trajectory Patterns and Factors Influencing Self-management Behaviors in Chinese Patients With Breast Cancer.

Background: Self-management plays an important role in improving quality of life among patients with breast cancer. Self-management behaviors change with treatment periods, and the trajectory varies in patients with different demographic and psychosocial characteristics. However, the trajectory patterns and the predictive factors have not been fully studied.

Prediction of overall survival after re-irradiation with stereotactic body radiation therapy for pancreatic cancer with a novel prognostic model (the SCAD score).

Purpose: To develop a predictive model for stratification of patients with pancreatic cancer who may achieve survival benefits from re-irradiation with stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT).

Methods: The score was developed based on clinical predictors of OS in 31 patients receiving two courses of SBRT with Cox proportional hazards model. Results were then validated in another cohort with 11 participants to assess the performance of the score.
