Cardiac disease diagnosis based on GAN in case of missing data.

PLoS One

November 2024

Beijing Aerospace Times Laser Inertial Technology Company, Ltd, Beijing, China.

In daily life, two common algorithms are used for collecting medical disease data: data integration of medical institutions and questionnaires. However, these statistical methods require collecting data from the entire research area, which consumes a significant amount of manpower and material resources. Additionally, data integration is difficult and poses privacy protection challenges, resulting in a large number of missing data in the dataset.

Introduction: Monitoring the leaf area index (LAI), which is directly related to the growth status of rice, helps to optimize and meet the crop's fertilizer requirements for achieving high quality, high yield, and environmental sustainability. The remote sensing technology of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has great potential in precision monitoring applications in agriculture due to its efficient, nondestructive, and rapid characteristics. The spectral information currently widely used is susceptible to the influence of factors such as soil background and canopy structure, leading to low accuracy in estimating the LAI in rice.

This study employed nano-indentation technology, molecular dynamics simulation, and experimental investigation to examine the stress relaxation behaviour of a polycrystalline γ-TiAl alloy. The simulation enabled the generation of a load-time curve, the visualisation of internal defect evolution, and the mapping of stress distribution across each grain during the stress relaxation stage. The findings indicate that the load remains stable following an initial decline, thereby elucidating the underlying mechanism of load change during stress relaxation.

Online measurement of disk part dimensions by the standard industrial camera features low cost, high efficiency and good universality, but the impact of projection distortion and end face chamfer on measurement is needed to overcome. Present work presents a measurement method to resolve above issues based on machine vision. To improve the measurement accuracy, lower end face of a disk part is determined as calibration plane and the upper end face is measurement plane.

Rapid identification of flight actions by utilizing flight data is more realistic so the quality of flight training can be objectively assessed. The bidirectional long short-term memory (bi-LSTM) algorithm is implemented to forecast the flight actions of aircraft. The dataset containing the flight actions is structured by collecting tagged flight data when real flight training is exercised.

In this study, we have developed a piezoelectric pump with a combined teardrop- and heart-shaped channel based on the Coanda effect and bionics principle. The bluffbody consists of teardrop- and heart-shaped channels. The vibration and the pump flow rate are evaluated theoretically, and the flow conditions under different bluffbody heights and different main channel widths are simulated.

One of the significant topics in the field of the Internet of Things (IoT) pertains to the interaction and information sharing among people. The utilization of the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) stack enhances the integration of web protocols and sensor networks, leading to greater accessibility. However, the BGP protocol stack introduces substantial overhead to messages transmitted at each layer, resulting in increased data overhead and energy consumption in networks by several orders of magnitude.

  • Carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) composites have excellent properties but face surface quality problems during slotting due to their complex structure.
  • The study investigates these slotting challenges using multi-tooth mills and varying fibre orientations and tool feed rates, showing that both greatly affect cutting forces and surface roughness.
  • Results reveal significant differences in performance between up-milling and down-milling techniques, with cutting forces and surface quality varying based on local fibre cutting angles and tool feed rates.

Recent developments in wearable piezoelectric energy harvesters.

Rev Sci Instrum

April 2024

Key Laboratory of Micro/Nano and Ultra-Precision Manufacturing (Jilin Province), School of Mechatronic Engineering, Changchun University of Technology, Changchun, Jilin 130012, China.

Wearable piezoelectric energy harvesters (WPEHs) have gained popularity and made significant development in recent decades. The harvester is logically built by the movement patterns of various portions of the human body to harvest the movement energy and immediately convert it into usable electrical energy. To directly power different microelectronic devices on the human body, a self-powered device that does not require an additional power supply is being created.

Excitation-wavelength-dependent photoluminescence in GaAs nanowires under high-pressure.

Nanotechnology

March 2024

State Key Laboratory of Superhard Materials, College of Physics, Jilin University, Changchun 130012, People's Republic of China.

GaAs nanowires (NWs) have wide application potential as near-infrared optical devices and the high-pressure strategy has been applied to modulate their crystal and electronic structures. As another typical thermodynamic parameter, temperature can also affect the optical performance of semiconductors. Here we report the excitation-wavelength-dependent photoluminescence (EWDP) in GaAs NWs under high-pressure conditions.

Surface Quality Improvement for Ultrasonic-Assisted Inner Diameter Sawing with Six-Axis Force Sensors.

Sensors (Basel)

July 2023

Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford, Oxford OX3 7DQ, UK.

Ultrasonic-assisted inner diameter machining is a slicing method for hard and brittle materials. During this process, the sawing force is the main factor affecting the workpiece surface quality and tool life. Therefore, based on indentation fracture mechanics, a theoretical model of the cutting force of an ultrasound-assisted inner diameter saw is established in this paper for surface quality improvement.

Slippery surfaces with outstanding slippery performances have shown application prospects in various fields, including anti-icing, antifouling, droplet transportation, and fog collection. However, practical application of the existing slippery surfaces is limited by lubricating oil loss, low water-slippery ability, low surface robustness, complex processes, and high costs. To overcome these limitations, we propose a facile, low-cost method to create a solid-like slippery Al surface (SSS-Al) by mixing hydrophobic nano-ceramic coating, silicone oil, and nano-SiO, which shows excellent comprehensive performance.

Examining stock market interactions between China (mainland China and Hong Kong), Japan, and South Korea, this study employs a framework that includes 239 economic variables to identify the spillover effects among these three countries, and empirically simulates the dynamic time-varying non-linear relationship between the stock markets of different countries. The findings are that in recent decades, China's stock market relied on Hong Kong's as a window to the exchange of price information with Japan and South Korea. More recently, the China stock market's spillover effect on East Asia has expanded.
