Background: High ulnar nerve injuries result in intrinsic muscle weakness and are inconvenient for patients. Moreover, conventional surgical techniques often fail to achieve satisfactory motor recovery. A potential reconstructive solution in the form of the supercharge end-to-side (SETS) anterior interosseous nerve (AIN) transfer method has emerged.

Current tools are insufficient for distinguishing patients with ovarian cancer from those with benign ovarian lesions before extensive surgery. The present study utilized a readily accessible platform employing a negative selection strategy, followed by flow cytometry, to enumerate circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in patients with ovarian cancer. These counts were compared with those from patients with benign ovarian lesions.

Extradural meningiomas are rare in the cervical region. A total of 70-77% of reported cases have occurred in the thoracic region. Tumors that occur in the cervical region may invade the adjacent nerve root and brachial plexus.

The retroperitoneum is an important space in the human body that is often implicated in a range Epub ahead of print of acute medical conditions, some of which can be life-threatening. Ultrasonography may serve as a pivotal first-line imaging technique when assessing patients with suspected retroperitoneal abnormalities. Effective ultrasonography of the retroperitoneum requires a comprehensive grasp of its anatomy, adjacent structures, and potential pathologies.

Background: There are few studies concerning the impact of serum vitamin D status on the risk of allergen sensitization and atopic dermatitis (AD) during early childhood.
Method: Children with AD and age-matched healthy controls (HC) were prospectively enrolled at age 0.5, 2, and 4 years.

Donor safety is crucial for living donor liver transplantation (LDLT), and sufficient liver regeneration significantly affects outcomes of living donors. This study aimed to investigate clinical factors associated with liver regeneration in living donors. The study retrospectively reviewed 380 living donors who underwent liver donation at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Linkou.

Background: Studies have shown that some single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) could serve as excellent markers in foretelling the treatment outcome of interferon (IFN) in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). However, most work originated from western countries, and data from different ethnic populations have been lacking.
Methods: To gain insights, targeted sequencing was performed to detect myeloid-associated mutations and SNPs in eight loci across three genes (IFNL4, IFN-γ, and inosine triphosphate pyrophosphatase [ITPA]) to explore their predictive roles in our cohort of 21 ropeginterferon alpha-2b (ROPEG)-treated MPN patients, among whom real-time quantitative PCR was also performed periodically to monitor the JAK2V617F allele burden in 19 JAK2V617F-mutated cases.

Introduction: The aim of this study is to investigate changes in TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) and gamma interferon-induced protein 10 (IP-10) after COVID-19 vaccination in pregnant women and to explore their association with neutralizing antibody (Nab) inhibition.
Methods: The study evaluated 93 pregnant women who had previously received two (n=21), three (n=55) or four (n=17) doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Also we evaluated maternal blood samples that were collected during childbirth.

We conducted a comprehensive metabolomic analysis of plasma samples obtained from pregnant women who displayed varying post-vaccination antibody titers after receiving mRNA-1273-SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. The study involved 62 pregnant women, all of whom had been vaccinated after reaching 24 weeks of gestation. To quantify post-vaccination plasma antibody titers, we employed binding antibody units (BAU) in accordance with the World Health Organization International Standard.

Background: Staphylococcus aureus secretes a variety of proteins including virulence factors that cause diseases. PrsA, encoded by many Gram-positive bacteria, is a membrane-anchored lipoprotein that functions as a foldase to assist in post-translocational folding and helps maintain the stability of secreted proteins. Our earlier proteomic studies found that PrsA is required for the secretion of protein A, an immunoglobulin-binding protein that contributes to host immune evasion.

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the surgical outcomes of endoscopic enucleation of the prostate in older males with or without preoperative urinary retention (UR).
Material And Methods: We conducted a study on selected patients with symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) who underwent either thulium:YAG laser (vela XL) prostate enucleation (ThuLEP) or bipolar plasma enucleation of the prostate (B-TUEP) at the geriatric urology department of our institution. The studied patients were categorized into two groups, namely the UR group and the non-UR group, on the basis of whether they experienced UR in the 1 month preceding their surgery.

Various vaccine platforms were developed and deployed against the COVID-19 disease. The Fc-mediated functions of IgG antibodies are essential in the adaptive immune response elicited by vaccines. However, the long-term changes of protein subunit vaccines and their combinations with mRNA vaccines are unknown.

Background: Resistance of Helicobacter pylori to many antibiotics, which lowers the efficacy of eradication therapy, is increasingly prevalent. High-dose proton pump inhibitor (PPI)-amoxicillin dual therapy (HDDT) has been used for H. pylori eradication for years, and resistance to amoxicillin is relatively rare.

This study assessed IgG levels to influenza/pertussis and neutralizing antibody (Nab) responses of COVID-19 vaccines in blood of pregnant women following immunization with pertussis (Tdap), influenza, and COVID-19 vaccines. We prospectively collected 71 participants categorized by the following vaccine combinations: 3TI, 4TI, 3T, and 4T groups (three and four doses of COVID-19 vaccines plus Tdap/influenza or Tdap vaccines alone). Our findings have indicated that the 3TI group exhibited elevated IgG levels for influenza B compared to the 3T group (12.

Inflammation and collagen-degrading enzymes' overexpression promote collagen decomposition, which affects the structural integrity of the extracellular matrix. The polysaccharide and peptide extracts of the green alga () have been proven to have anti-inflammatory, wound healing, and antioxidant effects in vivo and in vitro. However, the biological properties of the non-water-soluble components of are still unknown.

Technique: The surgical management for high-output postoperative chylothorax typically necessitates ligation of the thoracic duct (TD) above the leak site and/or sealing the leak with a clip. However, pinpointing these structures during subsequent surgeries can be challenging due to their variable course and the presence of traumatized tissues surrounding the leak area. In response to this, we have developed a novel, fluorescence-guided technique that significantly enhances intraoperative identification of the leak point and the TD.

Aim: This study aimed to explore anesthesia nurses' (ANs) perceptions of roles, competencies, and attitudes towards patient safety culture, along with predictive factors for patient safety culture.
Introduction: The 2021 guidelines from the International Council of Nurses aim to ensure global access to safe surgical and anesthesia care by 2030. However, in Taiwan, the roles and competencies of ANs are still evolving.

The three-dimensional (3D) cell culture technique has been applied comprehensively as a variable platform for medical research, biochemical signal pathway analysis, and evaluation of anti-tumor treatment response due to an excellent recapitulation of a tumor microenvironment (TME) in the cultured cancer cells. Pancreatic cancer (PaC) is one of the toughest malignancies with a complex TME and refractory treatment response. To comprehensively study the TME of PaC, there is an eager need to develop a 3D culture model to decompose the cellular components and their cross interactions.

Whether brain stimulation could modulate brain structure in autism remains unknown. This study explored the impact of continuous theta burst stimulation (cTBS) over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) on white matter macro/microstructure in intellectually able children and emerging adults with autism. Sixty autistic participants were randomized (30 active) and received active or sham cTBS for eight weeks twice per week, 16 total sessions using a double-blind (participant-, rater-, analyst-blinded) design.
