: Isolated sphenoid rhinosinusitis may have devastating consequences such as orbital complications due to its anatomical contiguity with vital structures. This study aimed to identify patients with isolated sphenoid inflammatory diseases at high risk for developing orbital complications and requiring aggressive management through investigation of the clinical and computed tomography (CT) characteristics of patients with isolated sphenoid rhinosinusitis. : The medical records of patients who underwent endoscopic sinus surgery between 2005 and 2022 were retrospectively reviewed.

Background: To investigate the association of four insulin resistance (IR) indicators with hepatic steatosis and fibrosis in patients with metabolic syndrome (MetS), as well as to compare the diagnostic value of these indicators in identifying hepatic steatosis and fibrosis in individuals with MetS.
Methods: This cross-sectional study used the data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2017-2018. IR indicators included homeostasis model assessment of IR (HOMA-IR), triglyceride/glucose (TyG) index, triglyceride glucose-waist-to-height ratio (TyG-WHtR), and metabolic score for IR (METS-IR).

Background: Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) has been recognized as a valuable biomarker for identifying the risk of cardiovascular diseases and inflammation. Furthermore, there is strong evidence to suggest that metabolic syndrome is closely associated with chronic inflammation. Accordingly, the present study endeavors to examine the potential correlation between metabolic syndrome and the levels of Lp-PLA2.

Background And Aim: Chromoendoscopy with the use of indigo carmine (IC) dye is a crucial endoscopic technique to identify gastrointestinal neoplasms. However, its performance is limited by the endoscopist's skill, and no standards are available for lesion identification. Thus, we developed an artificial intelligence (AI) model to replace chromoendoscopy.

Bullous pemphigoid is one of the most common autoimmune bullous diseases occurring primarily in the elderly. Pathogenic autoantibodies against BP180 and BP230 at the dermal-epidermal junction cause subepidermal blisters, erosions, and intense pruritus, all of which adversely affect the patients' quality of life and may increase their morbidity and mortality. Current systemic treatment options for bullous pemphigoid are limited to corticosteroids and immunosuppressants, which can have substantial side effects on these vulnerable patients that even exceed their therapeutic benefits.

Alloferon-1 is an insect polypeptide that has anti-inflammatory, antitumor and antiviral activity. This study aimed to determine the effects of alloferon-1 on estrogen deficiency-induced osteoporosis and explore the associated mechanism using a murine model of ovariectomy (OVX)-induced osteoporosis. Results showed that alloferon-1 prevented ovariectomy‑induced body weight gain, bone loss and bone mineral content reduction, affected biochemical markers of bone turnover, and restored the microstructure of bone trabeculae.

With the popularization of lung cancer screening, many persistent subsolid nodules (SSNs) have been identified clinically, especially in Asian non-smokers. However, many studies have found that SSNs exhibit heterogeneous growth trends during long-term follow ups. This article adopted a narrative approach to extensively review the available literature on the topic to explore the definitions, rationale, and clinical application of different interval growths of subsolid pulmonary nodule management and follow-up strategies.
