Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a widely accepted treatment for patients with mucosa (T1a) disease without lymph node metastasis. However, the inconsistency of inspection quality of tumor staging under the standard tool combining endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) with computed tomography (CT) scanning makes it restrictive. We conducted a study using data augmentation and artificial intelligence (AI) to address the early gastric cancer (EGC) staging problem.

Patients with relapsed or refractory (R/R) mature natural killer cell and T-cell lymphoma have limited treatment options. To evaluate pralatrexate's performance and factors influencing its safety and efficacy in R/R peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL), we performed a pooled analysis of data from 4 similarly designed, regulatory-mandated prospective clinical trials. Of 221 patients (median age, 59 years; 67.

Introduction: Orchalgia is a common andrological disorder and usually results from pathognomonic change of testes and regional structures. However, responsible cause is still unknown in more than one-fourth of patients.
Methods: We report two men who initially suffered an acute, isolated orchalgia and posteriorly complicated with paraparesis.

The erythroid Krüppel-like factor EKLF/KLF1 is a hematopoietic transcription factor binding to the CACCC DNA motif and participating in the regulation of erythroid differentiation. With combined use of microarray-based gene expression profiling and the promoter-based ChIP-chip assay of E14.5 fetal liver cells from wild type (WT) and EKLF-knockout () mouse embryos, we identified the pathways and direct target genes activated or repressed by EKLF.

Treatment of grating stimulation has been used in amblyopia for decades, but high dropout rate and inconvenience for daily practice occur in previous studies. We developed a home-based portable system with rotating grating stimulation on a tablet. Thirty anisometropic amblyopic children were randomly allocated into the control or Grating group.

Body composition (BC) parameters are associated with cardiometabolic diseases in children; however, the importance of BC parameters for predicting pediatric hypertension is inconclusive. This cross-sectional study aimed to compare the difference in predictive values of BC parameters and conventional anthropometric measures for pediatric hypertension in school-aged children. A total of 340 children (177 girls and 163 boys) with a mean age of 8.

The median overall survival (OS) of some head and neck malignancies, such as head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), with metastatic lesions was only 12 months. Whether aggressive pulmonary metastasectomy (PM) improves survival is controversial. Patients with primary head and neck malignancy undergoing PM were enrolled.

Stem cells rely on instructive cues from their environment. Alterations in microenvironments might contribute to tissue dysfunction and disease pathogenesis. Germline stem cells (GSCs) and cyst stem cells (CySC) in Drosophila testes are normally maintained in the apical area by the testicular hub.

Introduction And Hypothesis: Voiding dysfunction has gained interest due to its high prevalence in the elderly. This study characterized bladder dysfunction in women with voiding dysfunction using video urodynamic studies (VUDS) focused on detrusor underactivity (DU).
Methods: We studied 1914 women in which first-line medical treatment failed.

Amitriptyline is an old drug but is still prevalently used as the first-line treatment for a variety of common diseases. Surprisingly, knowledge of sexual risks with amitriptyline comes from only one clinical trial and several case reports from three decades ago. In the current study, a systematic review of the literature following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) related to amitriptyline and sexual dysfunction (SD) was performed.

Background: Isolated pulmonary valve infective endocarditis caused by Candida is rare in chronic hemodialysis patients. The 2009 Infectious Diseases Society of America guidelines suggest the combined use of surgery and antibiotics to treat candidiasis; however, successful nonsurgical treatment of Candida endocarditis has been reported.
Case Presentation: A 63-year-old woman with end-stage kidney disease was admitted to our hospital after experiencing disorientation for 5 days.

Although millions of people receive antithrombotic agents (ATAs) or anticoagulating agents (ACAs) for vascular prophylaxis daily, the negative impact of these agents on sexual function has not been systematically studied. Therefore, a literature search was conducted to determine the effects of the marketed ATAs and ACAs on sexual function. In regard to men, the results show that thienopyridine derivatives increase the risk of erectile dysfunction (ED) and decrease libido and sexual function.

Groundwater pollution from the petrochemical industry causes serious deterioration of soil and groundwater quality and impacts on human health worldwide. However, few studies have examined the effect of residential exposure to petrochemical chlorinated hydrocarbon-contaminated groundwater on renal function impairment in humans. We conducted an ecological study to investigate the two.

Unlabelled: Renovascular hypertension due to fibromuscular dysplasia is an uncommon but important cause of pediatric hypertension. It is usually ignored and diagnosed after a long delay because blood pressure is infrequently measured in children. We report a case of previously undiagnosed renovascular hypertension complicated with right renal infarction in a 2-year-10-month-old child, who initially presented as a case of conscious disturbance.

Renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis is the common and final pathologic change of kidney in end-stage renal disease. Interesting, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is known to contribute to the pathophysiological mechanisms during the development of renal fibrosis. Here, we investigated the effects of chemical chaperon sodium 4-phenylbutyrate (4-PBA) on renal fibrosis in vivo and in vitro.

Renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis is an important pathogenic feature in chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease, regardless of the initiating insults. A recent study has shown that CCAAT/enhancer binding protein (C/EBP) homologous protein (CHOP) is involved in acute ischemia/reperfusion-related acute kidney injury through oxidative stress induction. However, the influence of CHOP on chronic kidney disease-correlated renal fibrosis remains unclear.

Background And Aim: CO2 has been reported to be absorbed from the bowel more rapidly than air, resulting in a discomfort reduction after colonoscopy. Its role in deeply sedated patients is limited. This study was designed to investigate the efficacy and safety of CO2 insufflation during colonoscopy in patients deeply sedated with propofol.

Background: Infections in cirrhotic patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding are a common event causing severe complication and mortality. This study aimed to identify risk factors that may predict rebleeding, bacterial infections, and the impact of antibiotic prophylaxis on mortality at different stages of cirrhosis following acute peptic ulcer bleeding (PUB).
Methods: A hospital-based retrospective cohort study was conducted on 235 cirrhotic patients with acute peptic ulcer hemorrhage who underwent therapeutic endoscopic procedures between January 2008 and January 2014 (n = 235); of these, 88 patients received prophylactic intravenous ceftriaxone (antibiotic group) and 147 patients did not (nil-antibiotic group).
