Top Curr Chem (Cham)

November 2024

Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Comenius University in Bratislava, Mlynská Dolina, 842 15, Bratislava, Slovakia.

In recent years, porous polymers have gained significant attention for their application as powerful and selective sorbents in micro solid phase extraction (µSPE). In this review we explore the preparation and utilization of various porous polymer sorbents, highlighting their impact on enhancing µSPE techniques. Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), graphene oxide-modified frameworks, and zeolitic imidazole frameworks (ZIFs) are among the innovative materials discussed.

Visual place recognition from end-to-end semantic scene text features.

Front Robot AI

September 2024

Vision and Image Processing Laboratory, Systems Design Engineering Department, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada.

We live in a visual world where text cues are abundant in urban environments. The premise for our work is for robots to capitalize on these text features for visual place recognition. A new technique is introduced that uses an end-to-end scene text detection and recognition technique to improve robot localization and mapping through Visual Place Recognition (VPR).

In this study, arylglyoxals, acetylacetone, and 2,6-dimethyl phenol or 2,6-di-tert-butyl phenol are combined to efficiently synthesize a series of 1-(4-(3,5-dialkylphenyl)-2-methyl-5-phenylfuran-3-yl) ethan-1-one derivatives in excellent yields. These reactions were carried out in acetone at reflux under catalyst-free conditions in the presence of triethylamine as a base for 3 h. NMR, FT-IR, EI-MS, and elemental studies were used to characterize the products' structural characteristics.

In this paper, systems of multivariate interval linear equations with complex interval coefficients are examined, and a novel linear algebra-based approach for locating all of their solutions is proposed. The key concept is to convert the system into a crisp polynomial system that is equivalent and allows for the use of the innovative computational features of Gröbner bases. It is possible to calculate all of the system's precise solutions at once after an appropriate Gröbner basis has been determined.

Impaired autophagy is a hallmark of diabetes. The current study proposed to investigate if high intensity interval training (HIIT) induced lactate accumulation could stimulate autophagy in type 2 diabetic male rats. 28 male Wistar rats were randomly assigned into four groups: Healthy Control (CO), Diabetes Control (T2D), Exercise (EX), and Diabetes + Exercise (T2D + EX).

This study investigated the influence of species, capture method, chilling, and freezing on the quality and variations in biogenic amines of Thunnus tonggol and Thunnus albacares. Samples were collected from different sources, including fisheries ports, cold rooms, and canning factories. The results indicated that canned fish had significantly higher levels of biogenic amines, especially histamine, compared to raw fish from ports and cold rooms.

Background: Cancer, a complex and deadly health concern today, is characterized by forming potentially malignant tumors or cancer cells. The dynamic interaction between these cells and their environment is crucial to the disease. Mathematical models can enhance our understanding of these interactions, helping us predict disease progression and treatment strategies.

A Review of Studies Supporting Metaphorical Embodiment.

Behav Sci (Basel)

July 2023

Department of English, American, and Celtic Studies, University of Bonn, 53115 Bonn, Germany.

This paper presents a review of studies that have provided evidence supporting metaphorical embodiment. These studies are divided into three categories of behavioral, neuroimaging, and corpus studies. After summing up the findings of these studies, it is concluded that metaphorical embodiment is supported by these three lines of research.

In this paper, a new microextraction method, named deep eutectic solvent stir bar sorptive extraction (DES-SBSE), is described that utilizes a hydrophobic DES (hDES) as a coating for SBSE. As a model, vitamin D was extracted efficiently by this technique from different real samples before its spectrophotometric determination. A conventional magnet was encapsulated inside a glass bar (1.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the significant common neurological disorders of the current age that causes uncontrollable movements like shaking, stiffness, and difficulty. The early clinical diagnosis of this disease is essential for preventing the progression of PD. Hence, an innovative method is proposed here based on combining the crow search algorithm and decision tree (CSADT) for the early PD diagnosis.

April 2023

Atomic and Molecular Physics Group, Department of Physics, Faculty of Basic Sciences, Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran P.O. Box 14115-175, Iran. Electronic address:

Due to the importance of early detection of metabolic diseases in newborns, it is essential to measure organoacids; L-Tryptophan, Sebacic acid, and Glutaric acid in very low concentrations. Therefore, the necessity of the construction of a powerful nondestructive biosensor just like the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensor is demonstrated. Through the growth of silver dendritic nanostructures on different substrates like aluminum (Al), copper (Cu), indium tin oxide (ITO), and silicon (Si), a new SERS-based biosensor was developed.
