Background: To investigate prenatal ultrasound findings and the chromosomal outcomes of mosaic embryo transfer.

Methods: This retrospective study was conducted on pregnant women who underwent mosaic embryo transfer following blastocyst-stage preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) at CHA Gangnam Medical Center from January 2021 to July 2024. Trophectoderm biopsy specimens were collected using standard protocols, and next-generation sequencing profiles were defined as mosaics when displaying copy number counts in the 20-80% range.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study used data from the Korean National Health Insurance Service database and included 59,340 breast cancer patients without a history of depression who underwent surgery between January 1, 2010, and December 31, 2016.

With the advancement of radiotherapy technology in the medical field, the amount of radioactive waste has rapidly increased, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has proposed waste deregulation standards based on individual dose, collective dose, and nuclide concentration. The purpose of this study is to define the standard period (1 day) required to measure collected radioactive waste using direct and indirect methods with a radioactivity meter, ensure that the radiation dose remains below the allowable level, and transport the waste safely. In this study, 131I low-dose (30 mCi) radioactive waste discarded after radioiodine treatment at a medical institution was collected, and a measuring container was prepared to measure radioactivity concentration according to IAEA standards.

Comparison of cortical gyrification patterns in patients with panic disorder with and without comorbid generalized anxiety disorder.

Background: Lower functioning and higher symptom severity are observed when panic disorder (PD) co-occurs with generalized anxiety disorder (PD + GAD). No research on cortical gyrification patterns in the PD + GAD group has been conducted to date, which could show the alterations in brain connectivity in the extended fear network (EFN). This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of cortical gyrification in the PD + GAD group, compared to that in the PD without comorbid GAD (PD-GAD) group.

Current status and challenges of faculty development in Korean medical education and strategies for advancement.

Medical school professors take on many roles, including teaching, research, service, and practice, and are expected to evolve through their work and activities both on and off campus. At the same time, they are expected to gradually develop essential competencies as educators through faculty development (FD). However, FD does not yet cover the entire spectrum of faculty roles and does not adequately address the diverse characteristics of medical school faculty.

Backgroud: Distal radius fractures with complete intra-articular involvement and diaphyseal extension pose significant challenges for stable fixation. Treatment options vary, with no single method demonstrating superiority. This study analyzed the outcomes of fixing these type of fractures with volar locking plates, which are widely used worldwide, and the fracture length according to plate type to determine when an extra-long plate should be used.
