The different dyes used and discharged in industrial settings and microbial pathogenic issues have raised serious concerns about the content of bodies of water and the impact that dyes and microbes have on the environment and human health. Efficient treatment of contaminated water is thus a major challenge that is of great interest to researchers around the world. In the present work, we have fabricated functionalized silver-doped ZnO nanoparticles (Ag-doped ZnO NPs) a hydrothermal method for wastewater treatment.

GWAS for genetics of complex quantitative traits: Genome to pangenome and SNPs to SVs and k-mers.

Bioessays

November 2021

Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Ch. Charan Singh University Meerut, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The development of improved methods for genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for genetics of quantitative traits has been an active area of research during the last 25 years. This activity initially started with the use of mixed linear model (MLM), which was variously modified. During the last decade, however, with the availability of high throughput next generation sequencing (NGS) technology, development and use of pangenomes and novel markers including structural variations (SVs) and k-mers for GWAS has taken over as a new thrust area of research.

ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase (AGPase) is a heterotetrameric enzyme with two large subunits (LS) and two small subunits (SS). It plays a critical role in starch biosynthesis. We are reporting here detailed structure, function and evolution of the genes encoding the LS and the SS among monocots and dicots.

Toxicology Laboratory, Department of Zoology, Ch. Charan Singh University Meerut, Meerut, India.

In this study, we investigated the beneficial effects of melatonin against benzene-induced liver function impairments in Wistar rats. After 30 days of treatment, it significantly lowered hepatosomatic indices, bilirubin, and hydroxyproline in male and female benzene-treated rats. Even though it did not influence aspartate aminotransferase, melatonin had beneficial effects on alanine aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase.
