The role of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) is dual, such that, it inhibits tumor development in initial stage and promotes metastasis in later stage. The present study is aimed to analyse the relevance of different types of TGF-β and their receptors on the overall survival (OS) and TGF-β driven gene expression in individuals with cervical cancer (CC) using ONCODB and GEPIA databases. The in-silico gene expression analysis showed, TGF-β1 and TGFβR2 are upregulated in cells infected with human papilloma virus (HPV)16, whereas, TGF-β2, TGFβR1 and TGFβR3 expression were downregulated.

Introduction: Considering the elevated cancer mortality in individuals with psychiatric conditions, possibly associated with late diagnosis, this study investigated cancer screening participation rates among patients under the care of four Trieste community mental health centers (CMHCs).
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study on 1252 individuals with psychiatric disorders, retrieving their electronic health records up to December 2019. The study assessed participation rates in breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screening programs.

Objective: It remains unclear whether modifying laparoscopic radical hysterectomy to adopt tumor-free principles can improve oncologic outcomes in patients with early-stage cervical cancer.
Methods: We performed a single-center retrospective cohort study of 276 patients with early-stage cervical cancer who were treated between January 2017 and January 2023, including 151 patients who underwent laparoscopic radical hysterectomy that incorporated modified tumor-free techniques (MTF group) and 125 patients who underwent conventional laparoscopic radical hysterectomy with a uterine manipulator and unprotected intracorporeal colpotomy (non-MTF group). Oncologic outcomes and perioperative results were analyzed using inverse probability treatment weighting (IPTW).

Background: In the traditional computed tomography (CT) simulation process, patients need to undergo CT scans before and after injection of iodine-based contrast agent, resulting in a cumbersome workflow and additional imaging dose. Contrast-enhanced spectral CT can synthesize true contrast-enhanced (TCE) images and virtual noncontrast (VNC) images in a single scan without geometric misalignment. To improve work efficiency and reduce patients' imaging dose, we studied the feasibility of using VNC images for radiotherapy treatment planning, with true noncontrast (TNC) images as references and explored its dosimetric advantages compared to using TCE images.

What Is Already Known About This Topic?: Vaginitis is a prevalent and treatable gynecological condition in women that is associated with adverse reproductive outcomes, human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, and elevated human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) transmission risk.
What Is Added By This Report?: This study identifies elevated infection risks among women aged 35-54 years, those with three or more pregnancies, and individuals who smoke or consume alcohol, with notably higher prevalence rates in Hubei and Yunnan Provinces. The findings demonstrate that awareness of cervical cancer screening serves as a protective factor, while emphasizing screening's crucial role in early vaginitis detection.

The purpose of the current study was to analyze and validate the existing gap in knowledge, by conducting a differential expression analysis and validation of NEK6, NEK7, and NEK9 in breast, cervical, and glioblastoma cancer and targeting these proteins through development of novel site specific inhibitor with favorable pharmacokinetic and safety profile, using open-source databases. The analysis revealed that the targeted kinases were overexpressed in all three types of cancer. Their expression was significantly linked to overall survival rates, which suggests that they play a major role in the development and progression of these cancers.
