Introduction: In the last decade, the significant expenditure and consumption increase of vitamin D in Italy led some regions to adopt strategies to improve prescribing appropriateness and contain expenditure.
Materials And Methods: Using the statistical analysis method of interrupted time series for consumption and expenditure of cholecalciferol, different types of interventions adopted in four Italian regions and their efficacy were evaluated.
Results: Molise achieved the best results by adopting a health professionals' education program in addition to a prescriber-sanction system.

Introduction: Products containing anthraquinones (AQ) are associated with an increased risk of serious adverse events (AEs). We performed an update of the available evidence retrieved by the spontaneous reports of AE associated with herbal dietary supplement (DS) and over-the-counter medications (OTC-M) used as laxatives.
Methods: Analysis and evaluation of AE reports retrieved from the Italian Phytovigilance and Pharmacovigilance systems was performed from February 2011 to December 2020.

To verify whether, in patients on metformin (MET) monotherapy for type 2 diabetes (T2D), the add-on of a dipeptidyl peptidase inhibitor (DPP4i) compared to a sulfonylurea (SU) can delay the time to the subsequent treatment intensification (TI). Population-based administrative data banks from four Italian geographic areas were used. Patients aged ≥18 years on MET monotherapy receiving first DPP4i or SU dispensing between 2008 and 2015 (cohort entry) were followed up to the occurrence of TI (insulin dispensing or add-on of a third non-insulin hypoglicemic >180 days after cohort entry), treatment discontinuation, switch, cancer, death, TI occurrence within, end of data availability, end of study period (31 December 2016), whichever came first.

Background: Dermopigmentation, also known as medical tattooing, is a complementary technique in the reconstruction of the nipple-areola and an adjuvant procedure to improve colour mismatch. In 2009, tattooing of the nipple-areola complex (NAC) was introduced by Treviso Hospital through a project conducted in cooperation with the local section of the Italian Anti-Cancer League (LILT).
Methods: From 2010 to 2016, 169 patients treated for breast cancer underwent dermopigmentation treatments.

Liposomes functionalized on their surface with carbohydrates (glycoliposomes) represent an optimal approach for targeting of drugs to diseased tissues in vivo, thanks to biocompatibility, low toxicity and easy manufacturing of these lipid nanoparticles. Here we report on the study of liposomes including a novel glycosylated amphiphile and on the comparison of their features with those of glycosylated analogues described previously. Further, the capability of the different glucosylated formulations to interact with three breast cancer cell lines was investigated.

The problem of precarious employment is particularly rooted in epidemiological and public health research. Through a shared path, within the Italian Association of Epidemiology, a commitment document on precariousness in the epidemiological field has been produced with the aim of improving the working and contractual conditions of the precarious personnel involved in the initiative. If this experience were repeated in other scientific associations, the number of precarious workers with more protection would increase.

Forkhead box (FOX) genes encode transcription factors, which regulate embryogenesis and play an important role in hematopoietic differentiation and in mesenchymal niche maintenance. Overexpression of the family member FOXC1 has been reported in solid tumors and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). We studied FOXC1 expression and function in acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) and normal hematopoietic progenitors.

Introduction: Each of the steps involved in invasion of tumors requires specific molecular program in which the modulation of adhesive and migratory properties of disseminating cells plays an essential role. The improvement in the knowledge of these mechanisms can lead to discovery of new target candidates in drug development. In this study we focused attention on the product of the human AHI-1 (Abelson helper integration site) gene Jouberin (Jbn).
