Antibiotics are drugs widely used all around the world. Central nervous system adverse drug reactions (CNS ADRs) are mostly under-suspected with antibiotics. Nevertheless, these ADRs could lead to severe complications such as encephalopathy.

Reality of drug-induced erythema multiforme: A French pharmacovigilance study.

Background: Since the 2002 SCAR study, erythema multiforme (EM), a post-infectious disease, has been distinguished from Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS), drug-induced. Nevertheless, EM cases are still reported in the French pharmacovigilance database (FPDB).

Objectives: To describe EM reported in the FPDB and to compare the quality and the characteristics of the reports.

COVID-19 Vaccination and the Incidence of De Novo or Recurrent Rheumatoid Arthritis: A French and International (VigiBase) Signal Detection Study.

COVID-19 vaccination is critical in frequently immunocompromised patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, there is a question about the risk of RA flares following vaccination. Our study intended to find out about cases of new RA or flare-ups in people who already had RA that were reported in French and international pharmacovigilance databases after COVID-19 vaccination.

Drug-Induced Hearing Loss in Children: An Analysis of Spontaneous Reports in the French PharmacoVigilance Database.

Introduction: Hearing loss can have a negative impact on communication, with significant vocational, educational, and social consequences. Drugs are one of the causes of hearing loss in children.

Objectives: The objective of our study was to describe drug-induced hearing loss in the pediatric population.

Drug hypersensitivity in children: a retrospective analysis of 101 pharmacovigilance reports.

Our objective was to describe and discuss management of recent cases of drug hypersensitivity in children reported in a pharmacovigilance center. Two pediatric allergy units conducted a collaborative retrospective analysis of 101 adverse drug reactions reported to a regional pharmacovigilance center between January 2016 and July 2019. Time lapse between hypersensitivity reaction onset and allergy consultation varied from 1 month to 12 years.

[Pitch perception modification due to antiepileptics: A literature and pharmacovigilance databases review].

Pitch perception modifications are among the little-known adverse effects observed with antiepileptics, mainly affecting patients treated with carbamazepine (CBZ). Here, we describe an original French case of pitch perception modification due to CBZ resulting in perfect pitch loss. We also reviewed the literature as well as French and world health organisation global pharmacovigilance database.

Transient major hypothermia associated with acetaminophen: A pediatric case report and literature review.

We report the case of a 4-month-old baby boy who presented hypothermia (rectal temperature 36°C) after acetaminophen intake for post-vaccination fever. A recurrence of the hypothermia was observed after acetaminophen rechallenge for fever. We reviewed 14 other pediatric cases of hypothermia secondary to therapeutic doses of acetaminophen.

Beta-lactam-induced severe neutropaenia: a descriptive study.

The objectives of this study were to describe the characteristics and natural history of beta-lactam-induced severe neutropaenia and to evaluate the risk of recurrences after another beta-lactam readministration. Reports of pure agranulocytosis associated with a beta-lactam exposure within the 10 days preceding the neutropaenia were extracted from the French Pharmacovigilance Database over the year 2010. Cases with another evident cause or more likely attributable to another drug were excluded.

Is acetaminophen associated with a risk of Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis? Analysis of the French Pharmacovigilance Database.

Aim: Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are rare but severe mostly drug-induced cutaneous reactions. Acetaminophen is an over-the-counter drug used worldwide to treat pain and reduce fever. In 2013, the US Food and Drug Administration informed the public that acetaminophen was associated with a rare risk of SJS/TEN.

Gingival bleeding, a possible "serious" adverse drug reaction: An observational study in the French PharmacoVigilance Database.

Introduction: Antithrombotic drugs are known to increase the risk of gingival bleeding because they affect coagulation. However, other drugs could also be involved in gingival bleeding.

Aim: We performed a pharmacoepidemiological study to identify the drugs most frequently "suspected" in the occurrence of gingival bleeding.

First cases of calcium pyrophosphate deposition disease after zoledronic acid therapy.

A number of medications promote the development of calcium pyrophosphate deposition disease (CPDD). We report 2 cases of acute CPDD after intravenous zoledronic acid therapy. Case #1: a 63-year-old female was admitted for vertebroplasty at the site of an osteoporotic fracture.

[Rituximab-induced acute thrombocytopenia in a patient with chronic lymphocytic leukemia].

Introduction: Rituximab is a chimeric anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody generally well tolerated. However, a severe but rare rituximab-related immune-toxic syndrome, associating fever, chills and thrombocytopenia can occur shortly after the infusion.

Case Report: We report a case of severe acute rituximab-induced thrombocytopenia with favorable outcome in a patient with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and discuss the possible underlying mechanisms.

ITPA deficiency and ribavirin level are still predictive of anaemia in HCV-HIV-coinfected patients receiving ribavirin combined with a first-generation DAA (ANRS HC27 study).

Background: We aimed to determine the impact of inosine triphosphatase (ITPA) deficiency on ribavirin (RBV)-induced anaemia in HIV-HCV-coinfected patients receiving a triple therapy including the haematotoxic direct-acting antiviral agent boceprevir (BOC).

Methods: Patients of the ANRS HC27 BocepreVIH study were genotyped for two ITPA single nucleotide polymorphisms involved in ITPA deficiency. RBV trough concentration (C) was determined at week (W)4 and W8.

[Neuroleptic associated hypothermia: a new case report and study of spontaneous reports to the French pharmacovigilance network].

Introduction: Neuroleptics are the main antipsychotic agents used in psychiatric or medicine departments. The occurrence of hyperthermia, particularly in the context of the neuroleptic malignant syndrome, is a well-known side effect of these treatments. Conversely, the occurrence of hypothermia is less known from clinicians.

[Severe hypoglycemia induced by tramadol: two new cases of an unlisted side effect].

Introduction: Tramadol is a weak opioid analgesic used as a step two analgesic, approved in France for the treatment of moderate to severe pain in adult patients. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal and neurologic. Hypoglycaemia is an almost unknown side effect.
