Objective: To examine which characteristics predict the time to a first mood recurrence at three years in Bipolar Disorder type I (BD-I) and type II (BD-II).

Methods: Individuals with BD were followed up to 3 years. Turbull's extension of the Kaplan-Meier analysis for interval-censored data was used to estimate the cumulative probability of recurrence over time.

Background: Patient adherence to follow-up after a first episode of psychosis (FEP) is currently a major challenge. Patient's early adherence reduces the risk of relapse and improves their prognosis in the short and long term. The primary goal of our study was to determine the incidence of treatment disengagement at 1-year follow-up in patients with first-episode schizophrenia, schizophreniform or schizoaffective disorder.

Aim: Psychosis can be preceded by a clinical high risk for psychosis (CHR) and visual anomalies are predictors of transition to psychosis. Visual retinal processing is altered in psychosis, but no study has explored the links between visual symptoms and retinal functions in CHR patients. We report here the case of NR, an antipsychotic-naive young adult with CHR and severe visual symptoms in whom we explored the retinal function.

Towards a pharmacochemical hypothesis of the prophylaxis of SARS-CoV-2 by psychoactive substances.

Pôle de Psychiatrie, Santé Mentale et Addictologie, Hôpitaux Universitaires de Strasbourg, France; Laboratoire de Psychologie des Cognitions, Université de Strasbourg, Strasbourg, France.

An increasing body of evidence suggests a protective effect of some psychoactive substances against SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus type 2). Recent findings suggest that patients with psychiatric disorders are less affected by SARS-CoV-2 than their caregivers, which may seem surprising given some of the frequent risk factors for an unfavorable course of the disease (e.g.

Objective: Previous studies showed that patients with Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures (PNES) have poor quality of life (QoL). This study explored the explicative factors of the QoL at the time of diagnosis and monitored changes over the two years of follow-up.

Methods: We evaluated 107 participants with a diagnosis of Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizure (PNES), every 6 months for 24 months.

Assistance Publique des Hôpitaux de Paris, GHU Paris Nord, DMU Neurosciences, Hôpital Fernand Widal, Département de Psychiatrie et de Médecine Addictologique, Paris, France.

Background: The concept of misperception of sleep refers to the estimated discrepancy between subjective and objective measures of sleep. This has been assessed only in a few prior studies in individuals with Bipolar Disorder (BD) as compared to Healthy Controls (HC) and with mixed results.

Methods: We assessed a sample of 133 euthymic individuals with BD and 63 HC for retrospective subjective (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) and objective (21 days of actigraphy recording) measures of total sleep time, sleep latency and sleep efficiency.

Synthetic opioids (SO) associated with the recent alarming increase of deaths and intoxications in United States of America and Europe are not detected by the usual first-line opiates drug screening assays. We developed a liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry analytical method for the multiplex detection of 14 fentanyl analogues (2-furanylfentanyl, 4-ANPP, 4-methoxybutyrylfentanyl, acrylfentanyl, alfentanil, carfentanil, despropionyl-2-fluorofentanyl, fentanyl, methoxyacetylfentanyl, norfentanyl, ocfentanil, remifentanil, sufentanil and valerylfentanyl) and U-47700 in whole blood and urine samples. The method was validated according to the requirements of ISO 15189.

Background: Bilateral subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation improves motor symptoms and treatment-related complications in patients with Parkinson's disease. However, some patients have trouble adjusting socially after successful neurosurgery, in part because of "unrealistic" expectations and psychiatric disorders. Preoperative psychological interventions focusing on these aspects could be beneficial for such patients.

Purpose: Recent etiopathogenic models place emotional dysregulation at the core of psychogenic nonepileptic seizure (PNES). Our purpose was to assess physiological, cognitive, and behavioral emotional responses of PNES patients.

Methods: This study compared three types of emotional responses to visual emotional stimuli between 34 female PNES group and 34 matched healthy controls: physiological response measured by skin conductance response (SCR) (rate, amplitude and latency) and heart rate deceleration; cognitive response measured by valence and arousal elicited by the images; and behavioural response measured by latency of ratings.
