The Multimorbidity Questionnaire (MMQ1): English translation and validation of a Danish patient reported outcome measure for quality of life in people with multiple long-term conditions in a cross-sectional survey.

Purpose: MMQ1 is a Danish-language patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) for quality of life (QOL) in people with multiple long-term conditions (MLTC). It measures needs-based QOL across six scales: Physical ability, Concerns and worries, Limitations in daily life, Social life, Personal finances and Self-image. There is currently no such measure available in English.

Short term complications of conisation and long term effects on fertility related outcomes in Denmark: register based nationwide cohort study.

Objective: To report on complications of conisation and its effects on fertility and stenosis.

Design: Register based nationwide cohort study on routinely collected data using several linked databases.

Setting: Primary and secondary care in Denmark, 2006-18.

Time trends in mortality for people with severe mental illness in Denmark 2000-2018.

Purpose: People with a severe mental illness (SMI) have a marked reduction in life expectancy which is largely attributable to somatic morbidity. Life expectancy has increased in Global North populations, yet it remains unclear whether people with SMI have benefitted equally from this increase. Our objective was to explore time trends of all-cause and selected cause-specific mortality among all people in Denmark with registered diagnosis codes of SMI: depression, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia at psychiatric out- and in-patient settings.

Open Disclosure Among General Practitioners as Second Victim of a Patient Safety Incident: A Cross-Sectional Study in Flanders (Belgium).

Background: The impact of a patient safety incident (PSI) on nurses and doctors in hospital settings has been studied in depth. However, the impact of a PSI on general practitioners and how those health care professionals can be supported are less clear.

Objectives: The objective of this study is to investigate the prevalence of GPs (in training) being personally involved in a PSI, as well as the impact, the support needed, and open disclosure in the aftermath of these PSIs.

Association between Regular Exercise and Urinary Uric Acid Excretion in Chinese Adults: A Cross-sectional Study.

Regular exercise decreases the risk of hyperuricemia, which is related to reduced urinary uric acid excretion (UUA/UAE). However, few studies have assessed the association between regular exercise and UAE. We conducted this study to investigate their associations in the general population.

Aim: Insulin resistance (IR) is a pivotal metabolic disorder associated with type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. This study investigated the potential of hypoxanthine (Hx), a purine metabolite and uric acid precursor, in ameliorating IR and regulating hepatic glucose and lipid metabolism.

Methods: We utilized both in vitro IR-HepG2 cells and in vivo diet-induced IR mice to investigate the impact of Hx.

Impact of the diagnostic label for a low-risk prostate lesion: protocol for two online factorial randomised experiments.

Introduction: Many types of prostate cancer present minimal risk to a man's lifespan or well-being, but existing terminology makes it difficult for men to distinguish these from high-risk prostate cancers. This study aims to explore whether using an alternative label for low-risk prostate cancer influences management choice and anxiety levels among Australian men and their partners.

Methods And Analysis: We will run two separate studies for Australian men and Australian women with a male partner.

Transforming healthcare: A pilot study to improve primary healthcare professionals' self-management support behaviour through blended learning.

Background: Self-management of a chronic condition is a complex but increasingly important issue. However, a supportive attitude and behaviour among healthcare professionals is hampered by a lack of awareness, knowledge and motivation. In addition, the role of professionals in supporting self-management seems unclear.

Model-based disease mapping using primary care registry data.

Background: Spatial modeling of disease risk using primary care registry data is promising for public health surveillance. However, it remains unclear to which extent challenges such as spatially disproportionate sampling and practice-specific reporting variation affect statistical inference.

Methods: Using lower respiratory tract infection data from the INTEGO registry, modeled with a logistic model incorporating patient characteristics, a spatially structured random effect at municipality level, and an unstructured random effect at practice level, we conducted a case and simulation study to assess the impact of these challenges on spatial trend estimation.

Trends in C reactive protein testing: a retrospective cohort study in paediatric ambulatory care settings.

Objectives: This study aims to investigate C reactive protein (CRP) testing practices in paediatric ambulatory care across British primary care and accident and emergency (A&E) departments.

Design, Setting, Participants: This retrospective cohort study included children <18 years old having ≥1 CRP test at primary care or A&E departments in Oxfordshire between 2007 and 2021.

Outcomes: We estimated the frequency and annual changes in CRP testing in both settings and evaluated referral and admission patterns based on CRP levels: low (<20 mg/L), intermediate or high (≥80 mg/L).

Strategies of Bladder Reconstruction after Partial or Radical Cystectomy for Bladder Cancer.

The standard strategy is to reconstruct bladder by use of bowel segments as material in bladder cancer with radical cystectomy clinically. Both natural derived and non natural derived materials are investigated in bladder reconstruction. Studies on mechanical bladder, bladder transplantation and bladder xenotransplantation are currently limited although heart and kidney transplantation or xenotransplantation are successful to a certain extent, and bone prostheses are applied in clinical contexts.

Sleep restriction promotes brain oxidative stress and inflammation, and aggravates cognitive impairment in insulin-resistant mice.

Sleep deprivation and insulin resistance (IR) are two risk factors for Alzheimer's disease. As the population of people with IR increases and sleep restriction (SR) due to staying up late becomes the "new normal", it is necessary to investigate the effects and molecular pathogenesis of chronic SR on cognitive function in insulin resistance. In this study, 4-week-old mice were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) for 8 weeks to establish IR model, and then the mice were subjected to SR for 21 days, and related indicators were assessed, including cognitive capacity, apoptosis, oxidative stress, glial cell activation, inflammation, blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability and adiponectin levels, for exploring the potential regulatory mechanisms.

Background: Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women are among the most common bacterial infections in primary care. Given the health threats related to the overuse of antibiotics, alternative options are of increasing importance. Patient-reported outcome measures are valuable tools for including the patients' perspective when evaluating the efficacy of these strategies.

Informational continuity of medication management in transitions of care: Qualitative interviews with stakeholders from the HYPERION-TransCare study.

Background: The transition of patients between inpatient and outpatient care can lead to adverse events and medication-related problems due to medication and communication errors, such as medication discontinuation, the frequency of (re-)hospitalizations, and increased morbidity and mortality. Older patients with multimorbidity and polypharmacy are particularly at high risk during transitions of care. Previous research highlighted the need for interventions to improve transitions of care in order to support information continuity, coordination, and communication.

Self-management support (SMS) in primary care practice: a qualitative focus group study of care professionals' experiences.

Background: To support self-management of chronically ill persons, innovative approaches of care practice are being developed. Unfortunately, many self-management supporting interventions struggle to achieve reliable and consistent improvements at various levels (patient, provider and healthcare system level). One possible strategy to facilitate translating theory into practice, is to consider the healthcare professionals' perspective prior to the development of new interventions.

The clinical evaluation of the triglyceride-glucose index as a risk factor for coronary artery disease and severity of coronary artery stenosis in patients with chronic kidney disease.

Introduction: Insulin resistance (IR) plays an important role in the occurrence and development of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is a simple and effective tool to evaluate IR. This study aimed to evaluate the association of the TyG index with coronary artery disease (CAD) and the severity of coronary artery stenosis (CAS) in nondialysis patients with stages 3-5 CKD.

To reduce morbidity and mortality of cancer, more countries have implemented strategies to detect cancer, based on the logic of 'the sooner the better'. is thereby an essential component in how cancer research, policies, and prevention are practiced today. Where the logic of early diagnosis benefits some, the logic also produces harms.

Catalytic and Base-free Suzuki-type α-Arylation of Cyclic 1,3-Dicarbonyls via a Cyclic Iodonium Ylide Strategy.

To date, it remains challenging to achieve a general and catalytic α-arylation of cyclic 1,3-dicarbonyls, particularly ubiquitous heteroaromatic ones. In most cases, the preparation of their medically significant arylated derivatives requires multistep synthetic sequences. Herein, we introduce a new, convenient strategy involving the conversion of cyclic 1,3-dicarbonyls to cyclic iodonium ylides (CIYs), followed by rhodium-catalyzed α-arylation with arylboronic reagents via carbene coupling.

Digital Medication Management in Polypharmacy—Findings of a Cluster-Randomized, Controlled Trial With a Stepped-Wedge Design in Primary Care Practices (AdAM).

Background: Inappropriate drug prescriptions for patients with polypharmacy can have avoidable adverse consequences. We studied the effects of a clinical decision-support system (CDSS) for medication management on hospitalizations and mortality.

Methods: This stepped-wedge, cluster-randomized, controlled trial involved an open cohort of adult patients with polypharmacy in primary care practices (=clusters) in Westphalia-Lippe, Germany.

Integrated Care Models for Older Adults with Depression and Physical Comorbidity: A Scoping Review.

Objective: Multimorbidity is a growing challenge in the care for older people with mental illness. To address both physical and mental illnesses, integrated care management is required. The purpose of this scoping review is to identify core components of integrated care models for older adults with depression and physical comorbidity, and map reported outcomes and implementation strategies.
