Having a job is an important component of recovery from mental illness and a source of economic, social, and health benefits. Most people experiencing severe mental illness (SMI) want to work but are excluded from employment opportunities. Employment specialists (ESs) working in individual placement and support (IPS) teams help persons struggling with SMI obtain competitive employment.

H5N8 highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAIV) has caused huge losses to the global poultry industry and critically threatens public health. Chickens are the important host for the transmission. However, the distribution of H5N8 avian influenza virus (AIV) in chicken and the infected cell types are limitedly studied.

Objective: The objective of this scoping review was to identify and map existing preoperative interventions, referred to as prehabilitation, in adult patients at home awaiting elective coronary artery bypass grafting surgery. This review also sought to report feasibility and patient experiences to shape clinical practice and underpin a future systematic review.
Introduction: As patients age, comorbidities become more common.

Ultra-wideband radar application for sleep breathing monitoring is hampered by the difficulty of obtaining breathing signals for non-stationary subjects. This occurs due to imprecise signal clutter removal and poor body movement removal algorithms for extracting accurate breathing signals. Therefore, this paper proposed a Sleep Breathing Detection Algorithm (SBDA) to address this challenge.

Background: This study aims to collect local Malaysian data regarding the ophthalmic features and complications in craniosynostosis patients who attended the Combined Craniofacial Clinic (CFC) in University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).
Methods: Retrospective study of medical notes of craniosynostosis patients who attended the CFC in UMMC from 2014 to December 2020.
Results: Out of 37 patients, 29 had syndromic craniosynostosis, and 8 had non-syndromic craniosynostosis.

Seasonal crops require reliable storage conditions to protect the yield once harvested. For long term storage, controlling the moisture content level in grains is challenging because existing moisture measuring techniques are time-consuming and laborious as measurements are carried out manually. The measurements are carried out using a sample and moisture may be unevenly distributed inside the silo/bin.

The aberrant expression of kinases is often associated with pathologies such as cancer and autoimmune diseases. Like other types of enzymes, kinases can adopt active and inactive states, where a shift toward more stable active state often leads to disease. Dozens of kinase inhibitors are, therefore, used as drugs.

The X-ray crystallography station I911-2 at MAXLab II (Lund, Sweden) has been adapted to enable difference small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS/WAXS) data to be recorded. Modifications to the beamline included a customized flow cell, a motorized flow cell holder, a helium cone, a beam stop, a sample stage and a sample delivery system. This setup incorporated external devices such as infrared lasers, LEDs and reaction mixers to induce conformational changes in macromolecules.

Innate lymphoid cells (ILC) including NK cells (cytotoxic) and the recently identified "helper" ILC1, ILC2 and ILC3, play an important role in innate defenses against pathogens. Notably, they mirror analogous T cell subsets, regarding the pattern of cytokine produced, while the timing of their intervention is few hours vs days required for T cell-mediated adaptive responses. On the other hand, the effectiveness of ILC in anti-tumor defenses is controversial.

Physical frailty is often associated with cognitive impairment, possibly because of common underlying pathophysiologic mechanisms. To stimulate research in this field, the concept cognitive frailty was proposed, emphasizing the important role of brain aging. Cognitive frailty was defined as the presence of cognitive deficits in physically frail older persons without dementia.

Background: Phylogeographical studies allow precise genetic comparison of specimens, which were collected over large geographical ranges and belong to the same or closely related animal species. These methods have also been used to compare ticks of veterinary-medical importance. However, relevant data are missing in the case of ixodid ticks of bats, despite (1) the vast geographical range of both Ixodes vespertilionis and Ixodes simplex, and (2) the considerable uncertainty in their taxonomy, which is currently unresolvable by morphological clues.

Background: Many countries in the nutrition transition have high rates of iron deficiency (ID) and overweight (OW). ID is more common in OW children; this may be due to adiposity-related inflammation reducing iron absorption.
Objective: We investigated whether weight status predicts response to oral iron supplementation in ID South African children.

Background: We have studied alterations of gene expression associated with naturally-occurring early life stage mortality (M74) in Baltic salmon using a cDNA microarray and real time PCR. M74-affected fry have several typical neurological, cardiovascular and pathological symptoms. They are also characterized by low thiamine content and show signs of oxidative stress.

To develop novel neuroprotective or neurorestorative agents for clinical application, the appropriate selection and characterization of preclinical focal stroke models is required to provide confidence in predicting therapeutic efficacy. Compelling evidence for novel therapies derived from the pathological and functional consequences of models of cerebral ischemia in the rat (and higher species) is an essential prerequisite before large expensive clinical trials are begun. This chapter provides an overview of focal ischemic models, with an emphasis on objective functional assessment of pathological mechanisms and efficacy of novel therapeutic strategies.

Studies of the natural gamma-emitting radionuclides in Portland cement manufactured in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) of Pakistan and the various raw materials which compose the product have been carried out using gamma-spectrometric techniques. For data acquisition a high-purity germanium detector (HPGe) was used. The range of the total specific activity (minimum and maximum values) due to all the three radionuclides (40K, 226Ra and 232Th) were found to be 187.
