MFI-11 Predicts Post-Operative Serious Complications in Patients Undergoing Surgery for Odontoid Fractures.

Study Design: Retrospective Cohort.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to analyze postoperative complications in different mFI-11 groups after surgery for odontoid fractures in a geriatric population.

Methods: A single center retrospective review of odontoid fractures surgery (between 2013 and 2022) in patients aged 65 years and older was conducted.

[A case of hyperthyroidism due to functioning metastasis of differentiated thyroid carcinoma. Discussion and literature review].

We report on a very rare case of hyperthyroidism due to multiple autonomously functioning bone metastasis of papillary thyroid cancer in a 79-year-old woman. This situation remains extremely uncommon, as shown by our review of the literature; only 47 similar cases have been published from 1946 to 2005. The pathogenic mechanism remains largely unknown in spite of several hypotheses (conjunction in volume and differentiation, auto-antibodies).

[Role of personality, familial environment, and severity of the disease on the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia].

The phenomenology of Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) occurring in the Alzheimer's disease and related syndromes remains not well known. The goal of this study was to assess the role of disorders of personality, psychiatric disorders and home environment in the occurence of the BPSD; 99 inpatients from a short-term Alzheimer unit were included in the study. BPSD were assessed by the NeuroPsychiatric Inventory, the severity of dementia by the MMSE.
