Lemierre's syndrome is a rare and severe sepsis that can rapidly lead to a life-threatening condition in the absence of early management. This syndrome described at the beginning of the 20th century combines oropharyngeal infection complicated with septic thrombosis of the internal jugular vein and septic emboli predominantly pulmonary. Fusobacterium necrophorum, anaerobic germ, Gram negative bacillus is the main germ in this "necrobacillosis".

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the chronic respiratory disease with the most important burden on public health in terms of morbidity, mortality and health costs. Polypharmacy and potentially inappropriate medications: a cross-sectional analysis among 451 nursing homes in France.

Purpose: The quality of drug therapy is an important issue for nursing homes. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of polypharmacy and potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) in a large sample of nursing home residents by using the data recorded during the preparation of pill dispensers.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional study that included 451 nursing homes across France.

Treatment with Ruta graveolens 5CH and Rhus toxicodendron 9CH may reduce joint pain and stiffness linked to aromatase inhibitors in women with early breast cancer: results of a pilot observational study.

Objective: To determine the possible effect of two homeopathic medicines, Ruta graveolens 5CH and Rhus toxicodendron 9CH, in the prevention of aromatase inhibitor (AI) associated joint pain and/or stiffness in women with early, hormone-receptor positive, breast cancer.

Methods: This prospective, unrandomized observational study was carried out between April and October 2014. Women were recruited in two groups, according to which of the two study centres they attended: one receiving homeopathy in addition to standard treatment (group H) and a control group, receiving standard treatment (group C).

[Muscular metastases from renal cell carcinoma].

Crystal-storing histiocytosis (CSH) is a rare complication of monoclonal gammopathies caused by accumulation of crystalline material inside macrophages, and it may result in a variety of clinical manifestations depending on the involved organs. Although immunoglobulin κ light chains (LCs) seem to be the most frequent pathogenic component, very few molecular data are currently available.A 69-year-old man presented with a very poor performance status.

Watermelon stomach or gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) syndrome is an uncommon cause of sometimes severe upper gastro-intestinal bleeding. Essentially based on a pathognomonic endoscopic appearance, its diagnosis may be unrecognised because mistaken with portal hypertensive gastropathy, while treatment of these two entities is different. Its etiopathogeny remains still unclear, even if it is frequently associated with different systemic illnesses as hepatic cirrhosis, autoimmune disorders and chronic renal failure.

Cat scratch disease is caused by a facultative intracellular Gram-negative bacteria, Bartonella henselae. This disease is transmitted by cat scratches or bites. The typical form is a large and rough adenopathy, with no general signs.

Bariatric surgery is now recognized as a sure and effective way for weight reduction in morbid obesity. However some procedures induce intestinal malabsorption leading to enteric hyperoxaluria. So bariatric surgery could place these patients not only at risk for nephrolithiasis but also for oxalate induced nephropathy and chronic renal failure.

Patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) show a continuing improvement in their life expectancy thanks to advances in knowledge of this disorder, allowing better multidisciplinary routine monitoring and earlier therapeutic interventions. Likewise, more than of 40% of these patients are adults and CF is no more only a pediatric disease. Due to their higher life expectancy, CF patients present new and unusual complications that were not recorded before.

Wegener's granulomatosis mainly affects the upper respiratory tract, the lungs and the kidneys but many other organs and tissues may be affected, as well including any eye structures. Ocular and orbital structures involvement is frequently encountered, sometimes inaugural, with or without obvious systemic manifestations, sometimes leading to visual loss. The most frequent ophthalmic lesions are inflammatory orbital disease, (necrotising) scleritis with or without keratopathy, episcleritis, conjunctivitis and even conjunctival ulcer, nasolacrimal ducts obstruction, uveitis, retinal vasculitis and even central retinal vascular occlusion, optic neuritis.
