Background: Several successive arbovirus outbreaks have affected French Polynesia (FP) in the recent past years due to different dengue serotypes (DENV) present for several decades, Zika (ZIKV) (2013-2014) and chikungunya (CHIKV) (2014-2015) viruses with a potential impact on blood safety and blood supply due to the geographical isolation of these islands. This study reports an assessment of the impact of these outbreaks on blood products supply and infectious safety in FP and discuss the effectiveness of implemented preventive measures.
Methods: To ensure the infectious safety of blood products during outbreaks, several measures have successively been introduced as the selection of donors suspected of infection, the nucleic acid testing (NAT) and the pathogen reduction of platelets and plasmas.

Introduction: Stingray injuries occur when people inadvertently step on these fish. Penetration of the barb results in puncture and/or laceration wounds and lesions related to the venom.
Patients And Methods: We report the case of a 76-year-old woman in French Polynesia who was stung on her right ankle by a stingray.

Background: Real-world data describing management of patients with severe asthma are limited. To address this issue, we conducted FASE-CPHG (France Asthme Sevère - Collège des Pneumologues des Hôpitaux Généraux), a descriptive, multicentric, and observational cross-sectional study.
Methods: French pulmonologists from nonacademic hospitals completed questionnaires on patient characteristics and ongoing asthma treatment for severe asthmatic patients observed during the inclusion period.

In the version of this article originally published, the main-text sentence "In three patients of European ancestry, we identified the germline variant encoding p.Ile97Met in TIM-3, which was homozygous in two (P12 and P13) and heterozygous in one (P15) in the germline but with no TIM-3 plasma membrane expression in the tumor" misstated the identifiers of the two homozygous individuals, which should have been P13 and P14. The error has been corrected in the HTML, PDF and print versions of the paper.

Sudden death is defined as unexpected cardiac arrest occurring less than one hour after the onset of the first symptoms. Between 2010 and 2012, 23 maternal deaths were considered as unexplained sudden deaths and three of them were not evaluated due to a lack of clinical data. In addition, 13 maternal deaths with an identified cause occurred in a clinical context of sudden death (7 cases of pulmonary embolism, 2 cases of epilepsy, and 2 cases of cardiomyopathy).

Given the possibility of yellow fever virus reintroduction in epidemiologically receptive geographic areas, the risk of vaccine supply disruption is a serious issue. New strategies to reduce the doses of injected vaccines should be evaluated very carefully in terms of immunogenicity. The plaque reduction test for the determination of neutralizing antibodies (PRNT) is particularly time-consuming and requires the use of a confinement laboratory.

Zika virus infection is an emerging arboviral disease which presented as a mild flu-like or algo-eruptive syndrome with fever, arthralgia, myalgia and a maculopapulous eruption. Severe neurological and fetal complications have recently been highlighted. Diagnosis is established by detection of viral RNA by Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR).

Erysipelas. Erysipelas is a non-necrotizing acute dermohypodermitis of streptococcal origin (group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus) that usually affects adults and tends to reoccur. Risk factors recognized by the 2000 Consensus Conference are lymphedema, the existence of a gateway and obesity.

Background: Heterozygous mutations were identified in 60%-90% of patients with Sotos syndrome. Recently, mutations of the and genes were identified in patients exhibiting only some Sotos syndrome features. Both and genes encode epigenetic 'writer' proteins that catalyse methylation of histone 3 lysine 36 (H3K36me).

We detected an unusual increase in congenital cerebral malformations and dysfunction in fetuses and newborns in French Polynesia, following an epidemic of Zika virus (ZIKV), from October 2013 to March 2014. A retrospective review identified 19 cases, including eight with major brain lesions and severe microcephaly, six with severe cerebral lesions without microcephaly and five with brainstem dysfunction without visible malformations. Imaging revealed profound neurological lesions (septal and callosal disruption, ventriculomegaly, abnormal neuronal migration, cerebellar hypoplasia, occipital pseudocysts, brain calcifications).
