The effectiveness of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) has made it possible to consider treatment discontinuation in chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) patients that achieve an excellent response. However, a few of the patients included in the Europe Stop Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors (EURO-SKI) trial reported musculoskeletal pain shortly after stopping TKIs, considered as a withdrawal syndrome (WS). To identify factors that may predispose to TKI WS, we analysed the pharmacovigilance declarations for the 6 months after stopping TKIs in a large cohort of CML (n = 427) that combined the French patients included in the STop IMatinib 2 (STIM2; n = 224) and EURO-SKI (n = 203) trials.

Background: Bortezomib, thalidomide, and dexamethasone (VTd) plus autologous stem-cell transplantation is standard treatment in Europe for transplant-eligible patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma. We evaluated whether the addition of daratumumab to VTd before and after autologous stem-cell transplantation would improve stringent complete response rate in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma.
Methods: In this two-part, randomised, open-label, phase 3 CASSIOPEIA trial, we recruited transplant-eligible patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma at 111 European sites.

Purpose: The effects of the route of nutrition on the gut mucosa of patients with shock are unclear. Plasma citrulline concentration is a marker of enterocyte mass, and plasma intestinal fatty acid binding protein (I-FABP) concentration is a marker of enterocyte damage. We aimed to study the effect of the route of nutrition on plasma citrulline concentration measured at day 3 of nutrition.

In patients admitted for acute myocardial infarction, the communication and transition from specialists to primary care physicians is often delayed, and the information imparted to subsequent healthcare providers (HCPs) may be sub-optimal. A French group of cardiologists, lipidologists and diabetologists decided to establish a consensus to optimize the discharge letter after hospitalization for acute myocardial infarction. The aim is to improve both the timeframe and the quality of the content transmitted to subsequent HCPs, including information regarding baseline assessment, procedures during hospitalization, residual risk, discharge treatments, therapeutic targets and follow-up recommendations in compliance with European Society of Cardiology guidelines.

Background: The Registry of Adult and Paediatric Patients Treated with Cystadane® - Homocystinuria (RoCH) is a non-interventional, observational, multi-centre, post-authorization safety study that aimed to identify safety of betaine anhydrous (Cystadane®) in the treatment of patients with inborn errors of homocysteine metabolism (homocystinuria) in order to minimise the treatment associated risks and establish better knowledge on its clinical use. The registry included patients of all ages with homocystinuria who were treated with betaine anhydrous in conjunction with other therapies. Clinical data were collected retrospectively from 2007 to 2013, then prospectively up to February 2014.

Clonal chromosome abnormalities in Philadelphia-negative cells could concern chronic myeloid leukemia patients treated by tyrosine kinase inhibitors. The European LeukemiaNet distinguishes -7/del(7q) abnormalities as a "warning". However, the impact of clonal chromosome abnormalities, and specifically those of -7/del(7q), in Philadelphia-negative cells on clinical outcomes is unclear and based on case-reports showing morphological dysplasia and increased risk of acute myeloid leukemia, suggesting the coexistence of chronic myeloid leukemia and high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome.

Background The optimal timing of administration of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) in acute ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction patients is debated. Clinical trials have failed to demonstrate the superiority of pretreatment with P2Y12 inhibitors in ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction, but they were not designed to assess hard clinical end points. We used data from the FAST-MI (French Registry on Acute ST-Segment-Elevation or Non-ST-Segment-Elevation Myocardial Infarction) cohorts to determine 1-year survival and in-hospital outcomes in patients receiving DAPT, comparing prehospital versus in-hospital administration.

Currently, circulating viruses responsible for annual seasonal influenza epidemics belong to two influenza A subtypes, A(H1N1) and A(H3N2), and to two antigenically distinct type B lineages, B/Yamagata and B/Victoria lineages. Like diseases due to influenza A virus, influenza B virus diseases may have severe consequences and should be prevented. Until now, in France, the vaccines used to prevent seasonal influenza were trivalent, systematically targeting viruses belonging to both A subtypes and to one or other of the B lineages.

Background: Rituximab plus chemotherapy has been shown to be effective in patients with advanced-stage, previously untreated follicular lymphoma; nevertheless, most patients will have a relapse. Combination immunotherapy with lenalidomide and rituximab is an immunomodulatory regimen that has shown promising activity in patients with indolent B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Methods: We conducted this multicenter, international, phase 3 superiority trial to evaluate rituximab plus lenalidomide, as compared with rituximab plus chemotherapy, in patients with previously untreated follicular lymphoma.

The need to accurately identify cancer outpatients at high risk of thrombotic complications is still unmet. In a prospective, multicenter cohort study (ONCOlogie et Chambres ImPlantables [ONCOCIP]), consecutive adult patients with a solid tumor and implanted port underwent 12-month follow-up. Our primary objective was to identify risk factors for (1) catheter-related thrombosis, defined as ipsilateral symptomatic upper-limb deep-vein thrombosis with or without pulmonary embolism, and (2) venous thromboembolism other than catheter-related, defined as any symptomatic superficial- or deep-vein thrombosis (other than catheter-related) or pulmonary embolism, and incidental pulmonary embolism.

For the last 15years, imatinib mesylate (IM) has represented the gold standard treatment for chronic-phase chronic myelogenous leukemia (CP-CML); however, outcomes in the very long term remain unknown. We retrospectively analyzed the outcome of 418 IM first-line treated CP-CML patients followed in three reference centers over 15years in and outside of clinical trials, which is believed to represent the "real-life" care of such patients. Molecular analyses were standardized over the years.
