Background: Medication self-management (MSM) is considered an important aspect of pharmacotherapy and plays an essential role in the treatment of various illnesses. To date, research into the willingness and attitude of psychiatric healthcare providers toward MSM in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorders during hospitalization is lacking.

Aim: The aim of this study was to identify healthcare providers' willingness to MSM and assess their attitude, conditions, benefits, and ability toward it during hospitalization.

Self-Management of Medication on a Cardiology Ward: Feasibility and Safety of the SelfMED Intervention.

An intervention, SelfMED, was introduced to facilitate patient self-management of medication during hospitalization. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and safety of the SelfMED intervention. All patients in a cardiology ward in a Belgian regional hospital were assessed for suitability for inclusion, applying an evidence-based stepped assessment tool.

Objective: The transition to parenthood might negatively influence health-related behavior and can result in increased adiposity. The aim of this study was to investigate how body composition in mother-father dyads changes from pregnancy up to 6 months post partum.

Methods: Anthropometrics were collected from 144 nulliparous couples at 12 weeks of gestation (PG12) and 6 weeks (PP6WK) and 6 months (PP6M) post partum.

While interventions and strategies to improve medications care have been implemented in hospitals, it remains unclear how this type of medications care is provided in the home care setting. The objective was to describe home care nurses' management of high-risk medications.

Effect of the e-health supported INTER-ACT lifestyle intervention on postpartum weight retention and body composition, and associations with lifestyle behavior: A randomized controlled trial.

We investigated whether a postpartum lifestyle intervention reduced postpartum weight retention (PPWR) and improved body composition, and whether improved lifestyle was associated with less PPWR and improved body composition. A total of 1075 women with excessive gestational weight gain were randomized into the intervention (N = 551) or control (N = 524) group. A completion rate of 76% was reached.

Study Question: What is the impact of BMI on uncomplicated pregnancies and healthy births in women who did or did not have medically assisted reproduction (MAR, i.e. ART or hormonal stimulation without manipulation of eggs or embryos) in the Flanders region (Belgium)?

Summary Answer: Women with a higher BMI who use MAR are at the highest risk of pregnancy and birth complications.

Mental health after childbirth and the impact on postpartum weight retention and body composition. Data from the INTER-ACT randomized controlled trial.

Objective: To study the evolution of maternal mental health during the first year after childbirth in women with previous excessive gestational weight gain, and the relationship with postpartum weight retention and body composition.

Methods: Anthropometric and mental health data of 505 women of the INTER-ACT RCT control group were collected and assessed using descriptive statistics and mixed model analyses.

Results: At 6 weeks postpartum 28% of women reported depressive symptoms, 46% anxiety, 47% low sense of coherence and 48% low quality of life.

However, independent contributions of body composition, PA and ST of both parents on growth trajectories of their offspring, taking into account sex differences, has not been investigated.

Methods: A total of 114 mother-father-child triads were included for analyses.

High-Risk Medication in Home Care Nursing: A Delphi Study.

Aims: The aims of the study were to reach consensus on which medications in home care nursing should be considered high-risk medication (HRM) and to obtain recommendations about which interventions home care nurses can perform to improve quality of care and safety in managing these HRM.

Design: This is an international Delphi study with 13 purposively selected experts from 4 different countries.

Methods: A 3-round iterative Delphi survey was conducted from May 2018 to October 2018, based on a list of 32 medications previously reported as HRM in community care.

Methods: In a qualitative descriptive design, semi-structured interviews were used. Forty-nine interviews were completed (nurses = 18; psychiatrists = 3; hospital pharmacists = 2; patients = 26).

Cost-effectiveness of mental health interventions during and after pregnancy: A systematic review.

Background: Mental health problems during and after pregnancy such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or addiction are common and can have lifelong implications for both parents and offspring. This review investigates the cost-effectiveness of interventions tackling these problems, assesses the methodological quality of included studies, and indicates suggestions for further research.

Methods: Thirteen databases were searched for economic evaluations of interventions related to antenatal, perinatal, and postnatal mental health conditions, published between 2000 and September 2021, in high-income countries.

Background: Becoming a parent may cohere with drastic changes in physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior (SB). A clear understanding of determinants of changes in PA and SB during pregnancy and postpartum is needed to facilitate the development of tailored family-based interventions.

Methods: Thirteen focus group discussions targeting determinants of changes in PA and SB behavior were conducted, involving a total of 74 expecting and first-time parents.

Deprescribing clonazepam in primary care older patients: a feasibility study.

Background Inappropriate use of clonazepam by older adults is associated with cognitive impairment, delirium, and falls. Strategies to optimize its use are important to increase patient safety. Objective To evaluate the feasibility of a clonazepam deprescription protocol in the elderly.

Beliefs about medication after hospital discharge in geriatric patients with polypharmacy.

Objectives: To describe beliefs about medication in geriatric patients with polypharmacy post-discharge and to evaluate the impact of discharge management on patients' medication beliefs.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between November 2019 and March 2020 in twelve general hospitals in Belgium. Four hundred geriatric patients with polypharmacy were surveyed at hospital discharge and two to five days post-discharge using the Beliefs about Medicines Questionnaire and self-developed questionnaires.

Background: The association between inadequate personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic and an increased risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection in frontline healthcare workers has been proven. However, frontline healthcare workers with an adequate supply of personal protective equipment still showed an increased risk of contracting COVID-19. Research on the use of personal protective equipment could provide insight into handling present and future pandemics.

Background: People experiencing homelessness have an increased risk of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, with rates higher than the general population. However, their access to HCV diagnosis is limited and treatment uptake is low.

Interpregnancy weight change studies exclude nulliparous women.

Validation of the AUDIT and AUDIT-C for Hazardous Drinking in Community-Dwelling Older Adults.
