Study Question: How should premature/primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) be diagnosed and managed based on the best available evidence from published literature?
Summary Answer: The current guideline provides 145 recommendations on symptoms, diagnosis, causation, sequelae, and treatment of POI.
What Is Known Already: Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) presents a significant challenge to women's health, with far-reaching implications, both physically and emotionally. The potential implications include adverse effects on quality of life; fertility; and bone, cardiovascular, and cognitive health.

Preterm birth correlates with brain dysmaturation and neurocognitive impairment. The gut microbiome associates with behavioral outcomes in typical development, but its relationship with neurodevelopment in preterm infants is unknown. We characterize fecal microbiome in a cohort of 147 neonates enriched for very preterm birth using 16S-based and shotgun metagenomic sequencing.

Objective: This study aimed to increase understanding of the signs and symptoms that lead pregnant people to seek hospital care in the second trimester of pregnancy. In addition, we aimed to describe management and follow up, to record pregnancy outcomes, and to gather information about symptoms and signs related to second trimester pregnancy loss.
Methods: This prospective audit in seven geographically dispersed sites across the UK collected data over two weeks (7th March-20th March 2022 inclusive) on all unscheduled secondary care attendances between 14 and 21 completed weeks' gestation.

The introduction of self-sampling in cervical cancer screening has raised the importance of HPV test validation on self-collected samples. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical accuracy of the OncoPredict HPV Screening (SCR) assay on self-collected vaginal and first-void urine (FVU) samples, relative to cervical specimens, using the VALHUDES Framework. FVU and vaginal self-samples followed by a clinician-collected cervical brushing were collected from 500 women referred to colposcopy and tested using OncoPredict HPV SCR assay.

Proteases are key effectors in macrophage function during the initiation and resolution of inflammation. Recent studies have shown that some proteases, traditionally considered extracellular, also exhibit enzymatic and non-enzymatic functions within the cell. This study explores the differential protease landscapes of macrophages based on their phenotype.

In perinatal medicine, the number of babies with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions is increasing and the benefits of providing palliative care with a holistic, interdisciplinary approach are well documented. It can be particularly challenging, however, to integrate palliative care into routine care where there exists uncertainty about a baby's diagnosis or potential outcome. This framework, developed collaboratively by the British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) and the Association of Paediatric Palliative Medicine (APPM), offers supportive guidance for all healthcare professionals working in perinatal medicine across antenatal and neonatal services.

Purpose: This study explores whether economic instability or food insecurity moderates the changes in emotional abuse and neglect over time.
Methods: We used data from the Global Early Adolescent Study, a longitudinal study among adolescents ages 13-18 years (10-14 during pre-COVID-19 round) from poor urban communities in China (n = 387), the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) (n = 285), Indonesia (n = 400), and Malawi (n = 320). Data were collected before (2017 to March 2020) and during the pandemic (June to November 2020).

Adipose tissue dysfunction is one of the features of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) with dysregulated adipogenesis, altered functional pathways and increased inflammation. It is increasingly clear that there are also male correlates of the hormonal and metabolic features of PCOS. We hypothesised that the effects of adipose tissue dysfunction are not sex-specific but rather fat depot-specific and independent of obesity.

Testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) are essential for male development and fertility. In the canonical androgen production pathway, testosterone is produced in the testis by HSD17B3; however, adult male Hsd17b3 knockout (KO) mice continue to produce androgens and are fertile, indicating compensatory mechanisms exist. A second, alternate pathway produces DHT from precursors other than testosterone via 5α-reductase (SRD5A) activity.

Objectives: We investigated how internalized homonegativity and dyadic stress predicted relationship satisfaction in same-sex romantic relationships and explored the moderating roles of dyadic coping and relationship duration in the aforementioned associations.
Methods: The actor-partner interdependence moderation model (APIMoM) was introduced to deal with mutual influences between both partners in 241 same-sex romantic relationships.
Results: (1) individual internalized homonegativity, dyadic stress, and dyadic coping predict their own relationship satisfaction (i.

Endometriosis is a common, chronic, incurable condition the hallmark of which is the presence of lesions (tissue resembling endometrium) in sites outside the womb, with symptoms including chronic debilitating pain and fatigue. However, current therapeutic options are limited. Recent advances in our understanding of the mechanisms that contribute to the development of lesions and pain experience in endometriosis as well as surveys of patients have increased interest in testing recently approved formulations containing cannabidiol (CBD) in this patient group.

Tertiary Lymphoid Structures (TLS) are organized aggregates of immune cells such as T cells, B cells, and Dendritic Cells (DCs), as well as fibroblasts, formed postnatally in response to signals from cytokines and chemokines. Central to the function of TLS are DCs, professional antigen-presenting cells (APCs) that coordinate the adaptive immune response, and which can be classified into different subsets, with specific functions, and markers. In this article, we review current data on the contribution of different DC subsets to TLS function in cancer and autoimmunity, two opposite sides of the immune response.
