Assistance to families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders: Perceptions of the multiprofessional team.

Objective: to synthesize the care provided by health professionals, at different care levels, to the families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Method: a qualitative study, based on the Family-Centered Care philosophical theoretical framework and developed with 22 professionals from three multidisciplinary teams from the Health Care Network of a municipality in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. The data were collected through two focus groups with each team, organized with the support of the Atlas.

Managerial Decision-Making of Nurses in Hospitals: creation and validation of a simulation scenario.

Objective: to build and validate a clinical simulation scenario on hospital nurse managerial decision-making competence for undergraduate nursing students.

Method: a descriptive and methodological study was carried out in a higher education institution, with the participation of 10 judges and five players. To do so, the conceptual simulation model proposed by Jeffries and standards of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning were used to prepare the scenario and the checklist.

Prevalence of tuberculosis, COVID-19, chronic conditions and vulnerabilities among migrants and refugees: an electronic survey.

Objective: to analyze the prevalence of tuberculosis, coronavirus, chronic conditions and vulnerabilities among migrants and refugees in Brazil.

Method: this is a cross-sectional study of the electronic survey type conducted with international migrants during the COVID-19 pandemic. Descriptive statistics was applied for the analysis, with calculation of position and dispersion measures.

The Validity of Vital Signs for Pain Assessment in Critically Ill Adults: A Narrative Review.

Objectives: Pain assessment in the intensive care unit (ICU) is challenging because many patients are unable to self-report or exhibit pain-related behaviors. In such situations, vital signs (VS) through continuous monitoring are alternative cues for pain assessment. This review aimed to describe the reliability and validity of VS for ICU pain assessment.

Acceptability and feasibility of a digital educational intervention designed to improve the psychological well-being of parents with a preterm infant at the neonatal intensive care unit: A pilot project.

Background: Families experience psychological distress when their preterm infant is in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. A tailored educational intervention may be beneficial for their psychological well-being. Unfortunately, existing websites have moderate to low information quality and there is no educational website for French-speaking parents.

Objective: to analyze quality of life and factors associated among public university employees retired due to disabilities.

Method: a cross-sectional study conducted with a sample of public university employees retired due to disabilities. A characterization questionnaire and the World Health Organization Quality of Life - Disabilities instrument were applied via telephone or online contacts from November 2019 to September 2020.

Factors Influencing Parents' Perception of Their Infants' Transition From a 6-Bed Pod to Single Family Room in a Mixed-Room Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Background: While hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), infants and their families undergo multiple transitions, and these have been found to be a source of stress for families. Although mixed-room NICU designs allow for infants to benefit from different room types as their needs evolve during their stay, these can necessitate a transfer from one room type to another, which represents a transition for families. As some NICUs change to mixed-room designs, there is a need to better understand the factors impacting these particular transitions from the perception of parents.

Evaluation of an educational intervention (edworkcases) involving clinical cases and Nursing students: a cross-sectional observational study.

Objective: to evaluate the impact of the (edworkcases) educational intervention on students' evaluation outcomes in their clinical practices, their attitudes towards Nursing diagnoses, and their satisfaction.

Method: this study used a cross-sectional observational design. The participants were 69 third-year Nursing students from a public university in Madrid, Spain.

Telesimulation about home visits and child care: facilitators, barriers and perception of Nursing students.

Objective: to evaluate the facilitators, barriers and perceptions of Nursing students in learning about home visiting and child care through Telesimulation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Method: a qualitative study to evaluate Telesimulation via computers, grounded on Kolb's theoretical model. A semi-structured questionnaire and the Student Satisfaction and Self-Confidence in Learning Scale were applied, with descriptive analysis and qualitative thematic analysis on the perceptions of 41 Nursing students.

DriveSafe DriveAware: A systematic review.

Objectives: Driving is an activity of daily living that significantly affects independence, and driving cessation is associated with poor health, lower quality of life, cognitive decline and early entry into care facilities. There is no consensus regarding the best off-road tool to assess driving safety. Therefore, this review explored the diagnostic accuracy, reliability and clinical utility of DriveSafe DriveAware (DSDA) compared with an on-road driving assessment.

Objective: to analyze the integral health care for transgender adolescents from the perspective of their guardians.

Method: qualitative research based on the Social Network framework proposed by Lia Sanicola, developed with 22 guardians of transgender adolescents in Brazil through semi-structured individual online interviews. The empirical material was analyzed using the content analysis technique, thematic modality.

Psychotic relapses from the perspective of patients and family members.

This qualitative study was carried out with 10 dyads of patients-family members to explore their perception about psychotic relapses. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview from April to August 2019, in Brazil, and analyzed using the thematic analysis proposed by Braun & Clark. Four main themes emerged from the interviews: (1) defining and describing the psychotic relapses; (2) risk factors for psychotic relapse; (3) protective factors for psychotic relapse; and (4) early warning signs: identification of an episode of psychotic relapse.

The prevention of hospital-acquired pressure injuries among adult immobilized patients in a mental health department: a best practice implementation project.

Objectives: The aim of this implementation project was to promote evidence-based practices regarding hospital-acquired pressure injuries prevention practices among immobilized adult patients in a mental health department and to measure the level of compliance with the best practice in this field.

Introduction: Pressure injuries can have significant restrictions on the patient's quality of life; affect the patient physically, psychologically, and socially; lead to increased costs and length of hospital stay; and are closely linked to increased mortality. Thus, the best evidence practice implementation project was conducted in the mental health ward of a large teaching hospital in Bucharest.

Objectives: The aim of this implementation project was to promote evidence-based best practice regarding effective communication and patient safety amongst nurses in perioperative settings.

Introduction: One of the main causes of surgical errors is inadequate communication. To address this issue, published research has shown that effective communication among healthcare professionals (HCPs) within and between all phases of perioperative care, as well as the proper transfer of all patient information at all transition points, are essential for ensuring patient safety and quality of care.

Background: Workforce planning is crucial in maintaining balance between demand and supply of the nursing workforce. However, policies to boost nursing workforce supply such as increasing the number of nursing students need to be considered in conjunction with the capacity of the health care system to absorb nursing graduates into the workforce.

Adolescents' understanding of chemotherapy-related adverse events: a concept elicitation study.

Objective: to document adolescents' understanding of chemotherapy-related core adverse events from the Pediatric Patient-Reported Outcomes version of the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events and thus begin the validation process of this tool's items with Brazilian adolescents.

Method: this is a prospective, qualitative study of concept elicitation. The participants were 17 adolescents aged 13-18 years and undergoing chemotherapy in three hospitals in São Paulo - SP, Brazil.

Designing, planning, and conducting systematic reviews and other knowledge syntheses: Six key practical recommendations to improve feasibility and efficiency.

Background: Knowledge syntheses, such as systematic reviews, scoping reviews, and realist reviews, are crucial tools to guide nursing practice, policy, and research. However, conducting high-quality knowledge syntheses is a complex and time-consuming endeavor. It is imperative for nursing students, clinicians, and researchers to be aware of key practical recommendations regarding the conduct of knowledge syntheses to improve the feasibility and efficiency of such projects.

Factors impacting delegation decision making by registered nurses to assistants in nursing in the acute care setting: A mixed method study.

Background: Healthcare organisations have been redesigning care delivery models in an attempt to extend, expand and supplement the registered nurse workforce by including more unregulated healthcare workers, such as the assistant-in-nursing. As the number of assistants-in-nursing grows it is essential that nurses have the requisite skills and knowledge to effectively delegate and supervise this growing workforce.

Objective: The aim of this research was to explore the factors that impact the nurse's decision to delegate to assistant-in-nursing in the acute care environment.

Improving the self-efficacy, knowledge, and attitude of nurses regarding concurrent disorder care: Results from a prospective cohort study of an interprofessional, videoconference-based programme using the ECHO model.

Several challenges have been identified for patients with concurrent disorders to access adequate services and for nurses to care for them. These challenges contribute to a pressing need for continuing educational interventions, particularly within the mental health nursing workforce. To address this issue, an innovative interprofessional videoconferencing programme based on the ECHO® model (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) was implemented in Quebec, Canada to support and build capacity among healthcare professionals for CD management.
