Biochar is regarded as a promising lithium-ion batteries anode material, owing to its high cost-effectiveness. However, the poor specific capacity and cycling stability have limited its practical applications. A straightforward and cost-efficient solvothermal method is presented for synthesizing MnO/biochar composites in this study.

Diaper rash, mainly occurring as erythema and itching in the diaper area, causes considerable distress to infants and toddlers. Increasing evidence suggests that an unequal distribution of microorganisms on the skin contributes to the development of diaper dermatitis. Probiotic bacteria, like Staphylococcus epidermidis, are crucial for maintaining a healthy balance in the skin's microbiome, among others, through their fermentative metabolites, such as short-chain fatty acids.

The development of multifunctional catalysts is a necessary step to effectively carry out one-pot cascade reactions, such as that from furfural to γ-valerolactone. This research effort faces the challenge posed by the intrinsic limit of how many kinds of catalytic sites a single material can bear. In this work, the application of Spray-Freeze Drying (SFD) as a synthetic technique for the preparation of a wide range of innovative composite multi-functional catalysts is reported.

In the present study, the catalyst modified with alkaline oxide can enhance the selectivity to primary amines. However, the addition of alkaline oxide inevitably reduces catalytic activity. In this study, NiCo-NC@BaO-MFC catalyst derived from zeolitic imidazolate framework-67, Ba(CHCOO), and melamine formaldehyde (MF) resin was prepared and used for the hydrogenation of adiponitrile (ADN) to hexamethylene diamine (HDMA).

The supramolecular-based macrocyclic amphiphiles have fascinating attention and find extensive utilization in the pharmaceutical industry for efficient drug delivery. In this study, we designed and synthesized a new supramolecular amphiphilic macrocycle to serve as an efficient nanocarrier, achieved by treating 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde with 1-bromotetradecane. The derivatized product was subsequently treated with resorcinol to cyclize, resulting in the formation of a calix(4)-resorcinarene-based supramolecular amphiphilic macrocycle.

Improving the low productivity levels of native cattle breeds in smallholder farming systems is a pressing concern in Pakistan. Crossbreeding high milk-yielding holstein friesian (HF) breed with the adaptability and heat tolerance of Sahiwal cattle has resulted in offspring that are well-suited to local conditions and exhibit improved milk yield. The exploration of how desirable traits in crossbred dairy cattle are selected has not yet been investigated.

The HIV capsid (CA) protein is a promising target for anti-AIDS treatment due to its critical involvement in viral replication. Herein, we utilized the well-documented CA inhibitor PF74 as our lead compound and designed a series of low-molecular-weight phenylalanine derivatives. Among them, compound 7t exhibited remarkable antiviral activity with a high selection index (EC = 0.

Pharmacophores such as hydroxyethylamine (HEA) and phthalimide (PHT) have been identified as potential synthons for the development of compounds against various parasitic infections. In order to further advance our progress, we conducted an experiment utilising a collection of PHT and HEA derivatives through phenotypic screening against a diverse set of protist parasites. This approach led to the identification of a number of compounds that exhibited significant effects on the survival of Entamoeba histolytica, Trypanosoma brucei, and multiple life-cycle stages of Leishmania spp.

Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative condition defined by the progressive death of dopaminergic neurons in the brain. The diagnosis of Parkinson's disease often uses time-consuming clinical evaluations and subjective assessments. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) is a useful technique for electroanalytical devices due to its label-free performance, in-situ measurements, and low cost.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative disorders globally and leads to an excessive loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra of the brain. Circulating cell-free DNA (ccf-DNA) are double-stranded DNA fragments of different sizes and origins that are released into the serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) due to cell death (i.e.

A very interesting foundation for this study is the creation of new methods for modifying compounds with a 1,2,3-triazole and chalcone scaffolds, as these compounds are significant in organic synthesis, particularly in the synthesis of bioactive organic compounds. To contribute to the development of an efficient method for the conversion of antimicrobial and antituberculosis heterocyclics, a novel series of cyclohepta pyridinone fused 1,2,3-triazolyl chalcones were designed and synthesized. All the newly prepared scaffolds were characterized by FT-IR, NMR (H & C) and mass spectrometry.

Marine dissolved organic matter (DOM) is an important component of the global carbon cycle, yet its intricate composition and the sea salt matrix pose major challenges for chemical analysis. We introduce a direct injection, reversed-phase liquid chromatography ultrahigh resolution mass spectrometry approach to analyze marine DOM without the need for solid-phase extraction. Effective separation of salt and DOM is achieved with a large chromatographic column and an extended isocratic aqueous step.

The suppression of recombination is considered a hallmark of sex chromosome evolution. However, previous research has identified undifferentiated sex chromosomes and sex determination by single SNP in the greater amberjack (Seriola dumerili). We observed the same phenomena in the golden pompano (Trachinotus ovatus) of the same family Carangidae and discovered a different sex-determining SNP within the same gene Hsd17b1.

Objective: To explore a novel and dynamic role for neurogenin-2 in promoting cortical neurogenesis in cells produced from co-culturing neonatal cortical neural progenitor cells with bone marrow stromal cells.
Methods: The experimental study was conducted from June 2016 to January 2019 at the neuropharmacology laboratory of the Hussein Ebrahim Jamal Research Institute of Chemistry, International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences, Karachi. The growth of cells at different stages in harvested cells was determined by 3-(4, 5- dimethyl thiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide assay.
Objectives: To investigate the anticancer potential of a novel synthetic derivative of a naturally occurring diterpenoid against glioblastoma.
Methods: The in vitro study was conducted at the Ojha Campus of Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi, from February to December 2021, and comprised U87 cells. The 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay was used to determine the growth inhibitory effect of 16(R and S) - phenylamino-cleroda3, 13(14) Zdiene- 15, 16 olide and standard drug temozolomide against glioblastoma cells, and half-maximal inhibitory concentration was calculated.

PelQ1 from Saccharobesus litoralis is a Ca-dependent pectate lyase belonging to the polysaccharide lyase family 1 (PL1). Although being an endolytic enzyme, it degraded polygalacturonate into predominantly unsaturated trimer in an exolytic manner with delayed production of dimer, tetramer and pentamer. The enzyme harbours a C-terminal domain from the carbohydrate-binding module family 13 (CBM13), whose presence facilitated the production of dimer.

This study employs density functional theory to explore the interaction between ibuprofen (IBU) and silica, emphasizing the influence of the trimethylsilyl (TMS) functional group for designing pH-responsive drug carriers. The surface (S) and drug (D) molecules' neutral (0) or deprotonated (-1) states were taken into consideration during the investigation. The likelihood of these states was determined based on the pKa values and the desired pH conditions.
