In this paper, we present the design and fabrication of a novel chip-on-tip catheter, which uses a microcamera and optical fibres to capture in vivo images in a beating porcine heart thanks to a saline flush to clear the blood field. Here, we demonstrate the medical utility and mechanical robustness of this catheter platform system, which could be used for other optical diagnostic techniques, surgical guidance, and clinical navigation. We also discuss some of the challenges and system requirements associated with developing a miniature prototype for such a study and present assembly instructions.

Hybrid coronary revascularisation (HCR), being a treatment path combining both coronary artery bypass grafting and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) approaches, offers the advantages of both methods in patients with multi-vessel coronary artery disease. Since available literature provides few studies comparing the need for repeat revascularisation (RR) after HCR in comparison to PCI, our review aimed at summarising the latest data on this topic from the last 5 years (2018-2023). The search was conducted within the PubMed and Embase databases, followed by application of inclusion and exclusion criteria and providing a summary of data and characteristics of eligible studies.

Introduction: The study aim was to test the safety and efficacy of a pad with optic fibers developed for monitoring newborn respiratory rate (RR) and heart rate (HR).
Methods: Thirty New Zealand White rabbits were included, divided by weight into three groups. RR and HR were measured using two methods for each rabbit: ECG electrodes as the reference method and a newly developed pad with an experimental fiber optic system (EFOS) as the experimental method.

Background: Diagnosis of myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) requires both clinical evidence of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and demonstration of non-obstructive coronary arteries using angiography. We compared the clinical features, treatments, and three-year outcomes in patients with MINOCA and myocardial infarction with obstructive coronary artery disease (MI-CAD).
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data for 205,606 hospitalized patients with AMI.

Methods: The DESSOLVE III trial (Multicenter Randomized Study of the MiStent Sirolimus Eluting Absorbable Polymer Stent System for Revascularization of Coronary Arteries; n=1398) is a prospective, multicenter, single-blinded, all-comers, randomized controlled trial (NCT02385279), allocating in a 1:1 ratio to either ultrathin-strut biodegradable polymer MiStent sirolimus-eluting stent or to thin-strut permanent polymer Xience everolimus-eluting stent.

Background: Radial artery access has been shown to reduce mortality and bleeding events, especially in patients with acute coronary syndromes. Despite this, interventional cardiologists experienced in femoral artery access still prefer that route for percutaneous coronary intervention. Remote monitoring care (RC) of cardiac implantable electronic devices can facilitate patient-healthcare clinical interactions and prompt preventive activities to improve HF outcomes. However, studies that have investigated the efficacy of remote monitoring have shown mixed findings, with better results for the system including daily verification of transmission.

Background: Although currently used devices for interventional closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO) are widely used due to the minimally invasive nature of this technique and high success rate, there is still a need to look for new materials and designs in order to improve the treatment outcomes.
Aim: To evaluate the safety, biocompatibility, temporal healing patterns, and coverage dynamics of the new Polish PFO occluder (Balton, Warsaw, Poland) in a swine model - an observation that may assist the decision with regard to its first-in-human use and duration of anticoagulation therapy.
Methods: In total, 12 pigs were scheduled for 28-day (n = 6) and 90-day follow-up (n = 6).
