Aim: Cemiplimab has demonstrated significantly longer survival than physician's choice of chemotherapy in patients with recurrent cervical cancer after first-line platinum-containing chemotherapy. We report the final survival analysis from the phase III randomized study (EMPOWER-Cervical 1/GOG-3016/ENGOT-cx9).
Methods: Cemiplimab (n = 304) or chemotherapy (n = 304) were administered every 3 weeks.

Background: Interest is emerging regarding the role of blood biomarkers in acute stroke. The aim of this pilot study was to determine the feasibility of biomarker acquisition in suspected acute stroke, using modern ultrasensitive immunoassay techniques, and explore their potential usefulness for stroke diagnosis and management.
Methods: In 62 patients with suspected acute stroke, blood samples were prospectively obtained upon arrival and prior to neuroimaging.

Introduction: NSCLC is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality. Although immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have improved survival in patients with advanced NSCLC, treatment resistance remains a challenge. Cryoactivation, a technique inducing cell death by cycles of freezing and thawing, has the potential to augment tumor responses when combined with ICIs.

Colorectal liver metastases (CLM) affect almost half of all colon cancer patients and the response to systemic chemotherapy plays a crucial role in patient survival. While oncologists typically use tumor grading scores, such as tumor regression grade (TRG), to establish an accurate prognosis on patient outcomes, including overall survival (OS) and time-to-recurrence (TTR), these traditional methods have several limitations. They are subjective, time-consuming, and require extensive expertise, which limits their scalability and reliability.

Major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC I) molecules present peptides to CD8+ T-cells for immunosurveillance of infection and cancer. Recent studies indicate lineage-specific heterogeneity in MHC I expression. While respiratory diseases rank among the leading causes of mortality, studies in mice have shown that lung epithelial cells (LECs) express the lowest levels of MHC I in the lung.

This cohort study investigated whether allostatic load (AL) is associated with treatment response to repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Pre-treatment blood samples measured AL across multiple systems. Pre- and post-treatment mood changes were assessed using the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS).

Background: There is growing scientific evidence that wearable devices for seizure detection (WDD) perform well in controlled environments. However, their impact on the health and experience of patients with epilepsy (PWE) in community-based settings is less documented. We aimed to synthesize the scientific evidence about the performance of wearable devices used by PWE in community-based settings, and their impact on health outcomes and patient experience.

Background And Objective: Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a safe and effective treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD); however, this treatment currently lacks reliable biomarkers of treatment response. TMS-evoked potentials (TEPs), measured using TMS-electroencephalography (TMS-EEG), have been suggested as potential biomarker candidates, with the N100 peak being one of the most promising. This study investigated the association between baseline N100 amplitude and 1 Hz right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (R-DLPFC) accelerated rTMS (arTMS) treatment in MDD.

While the efficacy of GpIIb-IIIa-inhibitors during primary PCI (pPCI) for ST-elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI) has previously been demonstrated, its ongoing role and safety in combination with newer P2Y12-inhibitors is unclear. We therefore sought to compare outcomes between two centers with divergent approaches to the use of GpIIbIIIa antagonists in pPCI. We performed a retrospective chart review of all-comer STEMI patients treated with pPCI at two high-volume Montreal academic tertiary care centers.

Vagal neurostimulation (VNS) is used for the treatment of epilepsy and major medical-refractory depression. VNS has neuropsychiatric functions and systemic anti-inflammatory activity. The objective of this study is to measure the clinical efficacy and impact of VNS modulation in depressive patients.

Dual-faced cellular senescence is responsible for beneficial biological processes and for age-related pathologies. Senescent cells under stable proliferation arrest develop numerous senescence-associated phenotypes such as the potent pro-inflammatory secretome called the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP). The SASP shapes the senescent microenvironment and influences the biology of adjacent cells, including the modulation of proliferation and migration/invasion, reinforcement/induction of peripheral senescence, and immune cell activity or recruitment.

Purpose: The addition of interstitial (IS) needles to intra-cavitary (IC) brachytherapy applicators is associated with improved outcomes in locally advanced cervical cancers involving parametrial tumor extensions. The purpose of this work was to validate a clinical workflow involving 3D-printed caps for a commercial IC split ring applicator that enable using IS needle trajectories tailored to each treatment.
Material And Methods: A dedicated software module was developed in this work allowing users to design patient-specific IS caps without knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Methods: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess COVID-19 outcomes in individuals with SCD or SCT compared to individuals without sickle cell disease or trait. An electronic search on PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library was performed on August 3, 2023.

Objective: To assess the effectiveness of accelerated transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for treatment-resistant depression (TRD) in a tertiary referral center in Quebec, Canada, focusing on a real-world clinical setting.
Methods: We reviewed the data of 247 TRD patients treated between January 2012 and May 2022 who received accelerated TMS. Participants were adults diagnosed with unipolar or bipolar depression, resistant to at least two antidepressant trials, and assessed using the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS).

Purpose: To compare the safety, effectiveness, and persistence rates of 0.018-inch coils with those of Amplatzer vascular plugs (AVPs; Abbott Vascular, Abbott Park, Illinois) for the treatment of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs) in response to a growing concern that 0.018-inch coil embolization would increase the long-term persistence rate.

Neurovascular disease such as symptomatic stroke, silent brain infarcts and vascular cognitive impairment are common complications of sickle cell disease (SCD) that can have devastating consequences on quality of life, employment, and social functioning. Early recognition of neurovascular disease is a prerequisite for the timely optimization of medical care and to connect patients to adaptive resources. While cognitive impairment has been well described in children, currently available data are limited in adults.
