Rationale & Objective: Monoallelic predicted Loss-of-Function (pLoF) variants in IFT140 have recently been associated with an autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD)-like phenotype. This study sought to enhance the characterization of this phenotype.
Study Design: Case series.

MRI-guided focal laser ablation (MRI-FLA) is an emerging minimally invasive technique for treating localized prostate tumors, aiming to provide effective cancer control while minimizing side effects. This meta-analysis systematically evaluates the clinical outcomes, technical efficacy, and complication rates associated with MRI-FLA to better understand its therapeutic potential and safety profile in prostate cancer management. In July 2024, PubMed (MEDLINE) was searched for eligible trials using the PRISMA guidelines.

Background: Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) with inadequate responses to standard therapies have unmet therapeutic needs. The immunomodulatory, proangiogenic, and antifibrotic properties of mesenchymal stromal cells support their use in treating patients with SLE. We aimed to assess the safety of a single intravenous infusion of allogeneic umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stromal cells in patients with severe SLE.

Introduction: Membranous nephropathy can lead to end-stage kidney disease, for which kidney transplantation is the preferred therapy. However, the disease often relapses, which can impact allograft survival.
Methods: We conducted a prospective multicenter study in France involving 72 patients with membranous nephropathy who were awaiting and then underwent kidney transplantation.

Background: Alport Syndromes (AS) are the second leading genetic cause of Kidney Failure (KF). Whether multiple kidney cysts (MKC) phenotype belongs to the AS spectrum remains debated.
Methods: This multicenter retrospective study focused on patients genotyped with pathogenic COL4A3, COL4A4, or COL4A5 variants (classified as ACMG-AMP 4 or 5) between January 2011 and January 2023 across four French university hospitals.

Introduction: Lung transplant (LT) recipients are at greater risk of complications from COVID-19. Treatment options are limited partly due to interactions with immunosuppressive agents. Convalescent plasma (CP) is a potential treatment option, but it has not been extensively studied in LT patients.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major complication of chronic kidney disease (CKD), despite improvements in patient care. Vascular inflammation is a crucial process in the pathogenesis of CVD and a critical factor in the cardiovascular complications in CKD patients. CKD promotes a pro-inflammatory environment that impacts the vascular wall, leading to endothelial dysfunction, increased oxidative stress, and vascular remodeling.

Cancer treatments have been dramatically modified by the introduction and the development of immunological checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). These treatments have many side effects, including acute kidney injury (AKI). Their combination with other treatments makes the diagnosis complex.

Background: Assessing the risk of subsequent self-harm after hospitalisation for COVID-19 is critical for mental health care planning during and after the pandemic.
Aims: This study aims to compare the risk of admission to hospital for self-harm within 12 months following a COVID-19 hospitalisation during the first half of 2020, with the risk following hospitalisations for other reasons.
Method: Using the French administrative healthcare database, logistic regression models were employed to analyse data from patients admitted to hospitals in metropolitan France between January and June 2020.

Importance: Correction of tricuspid regurgitation using tricuspid transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (T-TEER) in addition to guideline-directed optimized medical therapy (OMT) may improve clinical outcomes.
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of T-TEER + OMT vs OMT alone in patients with severe, symptomatic tricuspid regurgitation.
Design, Setting, And Participants: Investigator-initiated, prospective, randomized (1:1) trial evaluating T-TEER + OMT vs OMT alone in adult patients with severe, symptomatic tricuspid regurgitation.

Objective: To compare the natural history of C3 glomerulopathy (C3G) to acute post-infectious glomerulonephritis (APIGN) in a cohort of patients with a relative homogeneity of environment conditions and genetic background.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the characteristics of all patients with biopsy proven C3G or APIGN referred in 2013-2019 to the only renal unit in French Polynesia.
Results: Point prevalence of C3G is ∼23 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

In PDAC patients, ctDNA detection's prognostic significance needs validation especially in resected patients. This study investigated ctDNA kinetics in portal and peripheral blood before and after resection, and whether tissue mobilization during surgery influences ctDNA detection. In this single-center prospective cohort, portal and peripheral blood were drawn during pancreaticoduodenectomy before and after tissue mobilization, during 12 postoperative months and were associated with overall survival (OS), recurrence-free survival (RFS) and CA19-9 (secondary endpoints).

Background And Objectives: We assessed the agreement between prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and imaging responses using whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (wbMRI). Our aim was to explore the potential prognostic value of PSA and wbMRI responses in metastatic hormone-naïve prostate cancer (mHNPC) and castration-resistant PC (mCRPC).
Methods: wbMRI was prospectively performed in 37 patients with mHNPC and 51 with mCRPC before and after 6-12 mo of androgen deprivation therapy and an androgen receptor pathway inhibitor (ARPI).

Introduction: This case study describes the clinical, medical and administrative management of kidney cancer secondary to occupational exposure to trichloroethylene, a chlorinated solvent classified as a known carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
Method: Data were collected from the computerized records of all patients treated by the occupational medicine department of Montpellier University Hospital for kidney cancer following occupational exposure to trichloroethylene.
Results: The study included five patients aged between 36 and 64years.

Background: Despite scarce data, invasive mechanical ventilation (MV) is widely suggested as first-line ventilatory support in cardiogenic shock (CS) patients. We assessed the real-life use of different ventilation strategies in CS and their influence on short and mid-term prognosis.
Methods: FRENSHOCK was a prospective registry including 772 CS patients from 49 centers in France.

Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with an increased risk of cognitive impairment. This cognitive impairment is associated with an increased permeability of blood-brain barrier (BBB) in rodents with CKD, linked to activation of aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) by indoxyl sulphate (IS). The objective of the BREIN study was to confirm the increased BBB permeability in humans with CKD.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a devastating lung disease with limited therapeutic options. Fibroblast growth factor receptor-4 (FGFR4) is a known receptor for several paracrine fibroblast growth factors (FGFs). FGFR4 is also the main receptor for FGF19, an endocrine FGF that was demonstrated by our group to have antifibrotic properties in the lung.
