TAFRO syndrome is a clinical subtype of idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD) that is characterized by thrombocytopenia, anasarca, fever and/or elevated serum C-reactive protein, renal dysfunction, and organomegaly. A 28-year-old woman with fever, weight gain of 13 kgs, lower extremity edema, hepatosplenomegaly, and multicentric peripheral lymphadenopathy was referred to our center. Laboratory investigations revealed anemia, thrombocytopenia, creatinine at 1.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome is a severe form of respiratory failure, occurring in up to 20% of patients admitted to the intensive care unit with sepsis. Dysregulated leukocyte diapedesis is a major contributor to acute respiratory distress syndrome. Endocan is a circulating proteoglycan that binds to the leukocyte integrin leukocyte functional antigen-1 and blocks its interaction with its endothelial ligand, ICAM-1.

Congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (CHH) is a condition characterized by absent puberty and infertility due to gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) deficiency, which is often associated with anosmia (Kallmann syndrome, KS). We identified loss-of-function heterozygous mutations in anti-Müllerian hormone () and its receptor, , in 3% of CHH probands using whole-exome sequencing. We showed that during embryonic development, AMH is expressed in migratory GnRH neurons in both mouse and human fetuses and unconvered a novel function of AMH as a pro-motility factor for GnRH neurons.

Context: Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers are valuable tools for the diagnosis of neurological diseases. We aimed to investigate within a retrospective multicentric study the final diagnosis associated with very high CSF Tau levels and to identify patterns of biomarkers that would differentiate them in clinical practice, to help clinical biologists into physicians' counseling.
Patients And Methods: Within the national multicentric network ePLM, we included 1743 patients from January 1, 2008, to December 31, 2013, with CSF biomarkers assayed by the same Innotest assays (protein Tau, phospho-Tau [pTau], and Aβ 1-42).

Split-hand/foot malformation (SHFM) is a genetically heterogeneous congenital limb malformation typically limited to a defect of the central rays of the autopod, presenting as a median cleft of hands and feet. It can be associated with long bone deficiency or included in more complex syndromes. Among the numerous genetic causes, WNT10B homozygous variants have been recently identified in consanguineous families, but remain still rarely described (SHFM6; MIM225300).

Research Question: An association has been found between high anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels during pregnancy and the development of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)-like phenotypic traits in mouse offspring. The aim of this study was to determine whether AMH levels are associated with maternal testosterone levels, and whether high AMH concentration influences the risk of developing PCOS-related adverse pregnancy outcomes.
Design: Maternal serum AMH, testosterone and sex hormone binding globulin levels were measured in blood samples taken in early second-trimester pregnancies from women with PCOS (n = 159) and healthy controls matched for body mass index (n = 320).

Introduction: In the diagnostic approach to interstitial lung disease (ILD), the use of transbronchial cryobiopsy (TBC) may offer an alternative to surgical lung biopsy (SLB). We report the diagnostic effectiveness and the safety of TBC in ILD based on the preliminary experience in two French university centers.
Methods: Twenty four patients underwent TBC for the diagnosis of ILD in the operating room between 2014 and 2017.

Background: Standardized reports are essential to meeting the bone sarcoma reference center certification requirements of the French National Cancer Institute (INCa). The usual classifications of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS), the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC/IUCC) TNM R classification and the American College of Pathologists, are inexact inasmuch as they fail to include chemotherapy impact on tumor cells in assessing surgical margins. This leads to inconsistent interpretation by teams managing bone sarcoma.

Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is recognized as heterogeneous based both on histology and molecular profiling. Histology addresses inter-tumor and intra-tumor heterogeneity in MPM and describes three major types: epithelioid, sarcomatoid and biphasic, a combination of the former two types. Molecular profiling studies have not addressed intra-tumor heterogeneity in MPM to date.

Objectives: Antibiotics for febrile neutropenia (FN) in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) patients undergoing intensive chemotherapy are usually maintained until neutropenia resolution, because of the risk of uncontrolled sepsis in this vulnerable population. This leads to unnecessarily prolonged antimicrobial therapy.
Methods: Based on ECIL-4 recommendations, we modified our management strategy and discontinued antibiotics after a pre-established duration in patients treated for a first episode of FN between August 2014 and October 2017.

The consequences of indoor and outdoor air pollution on human health are of great concern nowadays. In this study, we firstly evaluated indoor and outdoor air pollution levels (CO, CO, NO, NO, PM) at an urban site in Dakar city center and at a rural site. Then, the individual exposure levels to selected pollutants and the variations in the levels of biomarkers of exposure were investigated in different groups of persons (bus drivers, traders working along the main roads and housemaids).

Introduction: Evaluation of EGFR Mutation status for the administration of EGFR-TKIs in non-small cell lung Carcinoma (ERMETIC) was a prospective study designed to validate the prognostic value of EGFR/KRAS mutations in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), all receiving a first-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor, erlotinib. ERMETIC2 was an ancillary project evaluating the clinical value of common EGFR/KRAS-mutated subclones regarding prognosis using highly sensitive molecular detection methods.
Materials And Methods: Tumor samples from 228 patients with NSCLC (59% adenocarcinoma, 37% women, and 19% never/former smokers) were available for reanalysis using alternative highly sensitive molecular techniques.

Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS) is an emblematic ciliopathy associated with retinal dystrophy, obesity, postaxial polydactyly, learning disabilities, hypogonadism and renal dysfunction. Before birth, enlarged/cystic kidneys as well as polydactyly are the hallmark signs of BBS to consider in absence of familial history. However, these findings are not specific to BBS, raising the problem of differential diagnoses and prognosis.

Clonal chromosome abnormalities in Philadelphia-negative cells could concern chronic myeloid leukemia patients treated by tyrosine kinase inhibitors. The European LeukemiaNet distinguishes -7/del(7q) abnormalities as a "warning". However, the impact of clonal chromosome abnormalities, and specifically those of -7/del(7q), in Philadelphia-negative cells on clinical outcomes is unclear and based on case-reports showing morphological dysplasia and increased risk of acute myeloid leukemia, suggesting the coexistence of chronic myeloid leukemia and high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome.
