Lymphangioleiomyomatosis is a rare pulmonary disease encountered almost exclusively in women of reproductive age. Pulmonary involvement is characterized by multiple thin-walled cysts in the lungs, recurrent pneumothorax, obstructive lung disorders, and progression to chronic respiratory failure over a mean period of 10 years. Certainty of diagnosis requires a lung biopsy, but international criteria have been proposed for a diagnosis without such a biopsy.

This study aims to describe the haemodynamic and survival characteristics of patients with pulmonary hypertension in the recently individualised syndrome of combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema. A retrospective multicentre study was conducted in 40 patients (38 males; age 68+/-9 yrs; 39 smokers) with combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema, and pulmonary hypertension at right heart catheterisation. Dyspnoea was functional class II in 15%, III in 55% and IV in 30%.

Introduction: Urinary stress incontinence affects 10% to 30% of the female population and may have a major impact on psychosocial health. In interstitial lung disease, chronic cough may lead to development of urinary incontinence, but the prevalence and impact of this symptom are unknown.
Objectives: To determine the rate and impact of urinary stress incontinence among women with chronic cough due to interstitial lung disease.
