Stress classification with in-ear heartbeat sounds.

Background: Although stress plays a key role in tinnitus and decreased sound tolerance, conventional hearing devices used to manage these conditions are not currently capable of monitoring the wearer's stress level. The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility of stress monitoring with an in-ear device.

Method: In-ear heartbeat sounds and clinical-grade electrocardiography (ECG) signals were simultaneously recorded while 30 healthy young adults underwent a stress protocol.

The patient access time interval (PATI), from vehicle stop until contact with patient, may be increased in areas with low socioeconomic status (SES).

Objectives: The objective of this study is to identify predictors of prolonged EMS-RT intervals, and to evaluate associations with clinical outcomes in OHCAs occurring in the largest metropolitan area in France.

Prevalence of detransition in persons seeking gender-affirming hormonal treatments: a systematic review.

Background: Despite recent evidence of the benefits of gender-affirming medical procedures, data in the literature indicate emerging demands of detransition and regrets while suggesting potential sources of bias in different datasets, including a nonconsensual definition of detransition.

Aim: The present systematic review aims to summarize the existing research regarding the prevalence of detransition in transgender persons who requested or started receiving gonadotrophin-releasing hormone analogs (GnRHa) and/or gender-affirming hormonal therapy (GAHT).

Methods: A systematic literature search (CINAHL Plus, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, MEDLINE, Web of Science, Sage Journals, Science Direct, Scopus) for quantitative studies was conducted up to May 2024.

Treating disruptive disorder with emotional dysregulation (DDED) is a challenge in terms of difficulties, objectives and results. In addition to a multi-disciplinary approach involving child psychiatrists, nurses, psychomotricists and educators, the use of animal mediation (dogs) appears relevant. Eight standardized group sessions with eight children aged 6 to 10, assessed by means of a semi-directive interview and several psychometric tools (MDI-C, Kidscreen, parent attachment inventory, child/family star, family/child star, alexithymia questionnaire) revealed improvements in listening skills, empathy, adaptability, socialization, anger and depression management, temper tantrum frequency, school complaints and depressive symptoms.

The covalent Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitors (iBTKs) have profoundly transformed the management of B-cell lymphoid malignancies, particularly chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). These targeted therapies, with ibrutinib as the pioneer, have paved the way for significant improvement in the prognosis of many patients. With second-generation iBTKs such as acalabrutinib and zanubrutinib, the therapeutic landscape has expanded, offering potential new options for patients with CLL.

Navigating the duality of opioids' potent analgesia and side effects, including tolerance and hyperalgesia, is a significant challenge in chronic pain management, often prompting hazardous dose escalation to maintain analgesic effects. The peripheral mu-opioid receptor (MOR) is known to mediate these contradictory effects. Here, we show that the fms-like tyrosine kinase receptor 3 (FLT3) in peripheral somatosensory neurons drives morphine tolerance and hyperalgesia in a male rodent model.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the primary cause of ischaemic stroke and transient ischaemic attack (TIA). AF is associated with a high risk of recurrence, which can be reduced using optimal prevention strategies, mainly anticoagulant therapy. The availability of effective prophylaxis justifies the need for a significant, coordinated and thorough transdisciplinary effort to screen for AF associated with stroke.

A retrospective analysis on optimal medical therapy for patients with symptomatic lower extremity peripheral artery disease: a French observational study.
