"Geriatric Team Health Care Pathways": An Organizational Innovation to Enhance Care Pathways of Long-Term Care Facilities' Residents in the French Region of Occitania.

Born out of the COVID crisis, an innovative disposal called "Geriatric Team Healthcare Pathways" (GTHPs) has been implemented in the Occitania area in the south of France. GTHPs can be considered as geriatric "hotlines" providing expertise and knowledge to long-term care facility (LTCF) professionals, pursuing the general objective to promote a simplified, direct, and fair access to geriatric care for residents. This article highlights the history of their creation and their current use cases and operating modes for the year 2023, which includes a "quality of care approach" on good practices at a regional level (820 LTCFs), on topics such as the prevention of malnutrition and falls.

Blood microsampling combined with large panels of clinically relevant tests are of major interest for the development of home sampling and predictive medicine. The aim of the study was to demonstrate the practicality and medical utility of microsamples quantification using mass spectrometry (MS) in a clinical setting by comparing two types of microsamples for multiplex MS protein detection. In a clinical trial based on elderly population, we compared 2 µL of plasma to dried blood spot (DBS) with a clinical quantitative multiplex MS approach.

Prevalence and risk factors of frailty among adults living with HIV aged 70 years or older.

Objectives And Design: Frailty is a phenotype associated with adverse health outcomes in older persons. It has been evaluated mainly in middle-aged persons with HIV (PWH). The French multicenter prospective ANRS EP66 SEPTAVIH study aimed to assess frailty prevalence and risk factors in PWH aged 70 years or older on antiretroviral treatment (ART) for at least 12 months.

The prevalence of heart failure increases with age. In France, the 1-year mortality rate is 35% in subjects aged 80-89 years with heart failure, and 50% after the age of 90 years. August 2020 Interim EuGMS guidance to prepare European Long-Term Care Facilities for COVID-19.

Purpose: The European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS) is launching a second interim guidance whose aim is to prevent the entrance and spread of COVID-19 into long-term care facilities (LTCFs).

Methods: The EuGMS gathered experts to propose a guide of measures to prevent COVID-19 outbreaks in LTCFs. It is based on the specific features of SARS-CoV-2 transmission in LTCFs, residents' needs, and on experiences conducted in the field.

Atypical clinical presentation of COVID-19 infection in residents of a long-term care facility.

Purpose: To assess the magnitude of the infection in residents from-and staff working in-a long-term-care facility (LTCF) 7 days after the identification of one resident with confirmed COVID-19 infection and to assess the clinical presentation of the infected residents.

Methods: All residents and staff members of a LTCF were tested for SARS-CoV-2 by real-time reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction on nasopharyngeal swab. Residents were studied clinically 4 weeks after the first COVID diagnosis.

Group-based educational interventions in adolescents and young adults with ASD without ID: a systematic review focusing on the transition to adulthood.

There is a growing number of young people, diagnosed with an autism-spectrum disorder (ASD), transitioning to adulthood. Among this number, individuals without an intellectual disability have significant adaptive deficits and need individualized care and support services to better target vocational, social, and educational prospects and outcomes. Group-based interventions, including patient education, social-skills training, and cognitive-behavioral therapy, are widely used in clinical settings to improve the daily life and prospects of ASD individuals facing the challenge of transitioning to adulthood.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is an early-onset and lifelong neurodevelopmental condition frequently associated with intellectual disability (ID). Although emerging studies suggest that ASD is associated with premature ageing and various medical comorbidities, as described for ID, data are scarce. To determine the comorbidity burden and its association with distinct clinical presentation in terms of ASD severity, adaptive skills, level of autonomy, and drug exposure in a well-phenotyped sample of individuals with ASD-ID-the EFAAR (Frailty Assessment in Ageing Adults with Autism Spectrum and Intellectual Disabilities) cohort.

[Protein supplementation to prevent loss in muscle mass and strength in frail older patients: a review].

Minimum levels of protein intake are essential for the preservation of muscle mass and function, which is a major preventive issue of successful aging. Epidemiological studies suggest strong associations between protein intake and the different elements of sarcopenia, namely maintenance of lean mass and muscle strength. Most often, protein intakes among older patients are below requirements, independently from situations of under nutrition.
