European S2k guidelines for hidradenitis suppurativa/acne inversa part 2: Treatment.

Introduction: This second part of the S2k guidelines is an update of the 2015 S1 European guidelines.

Objective: These guidelines aim to provide an accepted decision aid for the selection, implementation and assessment of appropriate and sufficient therapy for patients with hidradenitis suppurativa/acne inversa (HS).

Methods: The chapters have been selected after a Delphi procedure among the experts/authors.

Determinants of radiological patterns and severity in immunocompromised adults with Metapneumovirus infection.

Background: Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) belongs to the Pneumoviridae family and is responsible for respiratory infections. Mild infections are well-recognized in children, while its precise impact in various categories of immunocompromised adults has not been well addressed.

Research Question: We retrospectively studied HMPV infections in immunocompromised adults followed in two large French university medical centers.

Global guideline for the diagnosis and management of cryptococcosis: an initiative of the ECMM and ISHAM in cooperation with the ASM.

Cryptococcosis is a major worldwide disseminated invasive fungal infection. Cryptococcosis, particularly in its most lethal manifestation of cryptococcal meningitis, accounts for substantial mortality and morbidity. The breadth of the clinical cryptococcosis syndromes, the different patient types at-risk and affected, and the vastly disparate resource settings where clinicians practice pose a complex array of challenges.

Performance of clinical metagenomics in France: a prospective observational study.

Background: Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) allows untargeted identification of a broad range of pathogens, including rare or novel microorganisms. Despite the recognition of mNGS as a valuable diagnostic tool for infections, the most relevant indications for this innovative strategy remain poorly defined. We aimed to assess the determinants of positivity and clinical utility of mNGS.

Clinical Characteristics and Outcomes Among Travelers With Severe Dengue : A GeoSentinel Analysis.

Background: Dengue virus is a flavivirus transmitted by mosquitoes and is an important cause of illness worldwide. Data on the severity of travel-associated dengue illness are limited.

Objective: To describe the epidemiology, clinical characteristics, and outcomes among international travelers with severe dengue or dengue with warning signs as defined by the 2009 World Health Organization classification (that is, complicated dengue).

Disseminated Cryptococcosis Following Eculizumab Therapy: Insight Into Pathogenesis.

Eculizumab, a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody (mAb), is used for the treatment of patients (both adults and children) with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria and atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome. This mAb binds to complement protein 5 (C5), thereby inhibiting its cleavage. On the other hand, one of the C5 cleavage products, C5a, is a potent anaphylatoxin with proinflammatory properties, involved in antimicrobial surveillance.

A Functional Polymorphism in IL-1B Is Associated With Immune Reconstitution Inflammatory Syndrome of Chronic Disseminated Candidiasis.

We investigated single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) possibly involved in immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome of chronic disseminated candidiasis (IRIS-CDC) through a candidate gene approach and a prospective matched-control study. We found that an SNP located in interleukin-1B at rs1143627 was significantly associated with the risk of developing IRIS-CDC.

Striking differences in weight gain after cART initiation depending on early or advanced presentation: results from the ANRS CO4 FHDH cohort.

Background: Many studies have reported weight gain in ART-naive people living with HIV (PWH) initiating an integrase strand-transfer inhibitor-based regimen. We studied the impact of early or advanced presentation and that of individual drugs in PWH initiating combined ART (cART) between 2012 and 2018.

Methods: From the French Hospital Database HIV cohort, we assessed factors associated with a weight gain  ≥10%, weight change after cART initiation or BMI increase  ≥5 kg/m2 up to 30 months.

Does F-FDG PET/CT add value to conventional imaging in clinical assessment of chronic disseminated candidiasis?

Background: Chronic disseminated candidiasis (CDC) classically occurs after profound and prolonged neutropenia. The aim of the CANHPARI study was to assess the clinical value of adding F-fluorodeoxyglucose PET/CT to conventional radiology for initial and subsequent evaluations of CDC.

Materials And Methods: A pilot prospective study was conducted in 23 French onco-hematological centers from 2013 to 2017 (NCT01916057).

Depressive symptoms after hepatitis C cure and socio-behavioral correlates in aging people living with HIV (ANRS CO13 HEPAVIH).

Background & Aims: A growing literature shows an improvement of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV)-related depression after successful treatment with direct-acting antivirals. However, depression after HCV cure remains insufficiently documented in people living with HIV (PLWH) and HCV, a population with specific mental health challenges. This study aimed to (i) document the prevalence of moderate-to-severe depression (PHQ-9 score ≥10) across different age classes in HCV-cured PLWH; (ii) identify associated socio-behavioral correlates.

Impact on renal function of daily and on-demand HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis in the ANRS-PREVENIR study.

Objectives: To assess the impact on the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) of different tenofovir disoproxil/emtricitabine dosing regimens for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

Patients And Methods: We included in the study individuals with baseline eGFR > 50 mL/min/1.73 m2 who initiated PrEP in the ongoing ANRS-PREVENIR PrEP cohort.
