Profile of adverse drug reactions reported via the Continuum+ platform: Results from three-year regional follow-up.

In 2017, the Continuum+ platform was launched to provide a monitoring solution to home-based cancer care patients: AKO@dom monitoring. This platform also offers the follow-up of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) via direct notification to regional centers of pharmacovigilance (RCPVs). According to previous studies, the AKO@dom monitoring has successfully maintained treatment at the maximum effective dosage, managing ADRs and patient satisfaction.

Discordance between pain specialists and patients on the perception of dependence on pain medication: A multi-centre cross-sectional study.

Aim: Patients with chronic non-cancer pain are referred to pain centres to improve their pain treatment. The discontinuation of pain medications in case of poor efficacy can be difficult to accept for patients, particularly opioid analgesics. Previous research has described that from the patients' perspective, the psychological relief of a negative effect of chronic pain and withdrawal symptoms of prescription opioids represent drivers of persistent use and first stage of opioid use disorder, despite insufficient pain relief.

[Systematic analysis of evaluations of Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) multiple circuits: Explanatory variables and inter-rater correlations].

Introduction: Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) assess professional performance in a simulated environment. Following their integration into the reform of the 2nd cycle of medical studies (R2C), this pedagogical modality was implemented in France. This study investigates the variability of students' OSCE scores, as well as their inter-rater reproducibility.

Background: Because health resources are limited, health programs should be compared to allow the most efficient ones to emerge. To that aim, health utility instruments have been developed to allow the calculation of quality-adjusted life-year (QALY). However, generic instruments, which can be used by any individual regardless of their health profile, typically consider the preferences of the general population when developing their value set.

Cannabis use and dependence among festival attendees: results from the French OCTOPUS survey.

Background: Chronic use of cannabis is associated with an increased risk of psychosocial, mental and physical health impairments. Sociohealth institutions reach a very limited proportion of cannabis users in need of treatment. Using data collected from festival attendees, this study aimed to estimate the prevalence of dependent cannabis users and to characterize cannabis dependence.

GDF5 as a rejuvenating treatment for age-related neuromuscular failure.

Sarcopenia involves a progressive loss of skeletal muscle force, quality and mass during ageing, which results in increased inability and death; however, no cure has been established thus far. Growth differentiation factor 5 (GDF5) has been described to modulate muscle mass maintenance in various contexts. For our proof of concept, we overexpressed GDF5 by AAV vector injection in tibialis anterior muscle of adult aged (20 months) mice and performed molecular and functional analysis of skeletal muscle.

[From comprehensive geriatric assessment to an integrated multidimensional assessment system : interRAI tools and their applications].

The multidimensional assessment carried out with interRAI tools constitutes an operationalization of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) and is adapted to the specificities of each place of care. From a single assessment, the interRAI approach makes it possible to conduct a multidimensional assessment of functional autonomy and to produce a series of indicators (health, areas of intervention, quality of care and consumption of resources). It helps to identify clinical needs to be the subject of a personalized care plan and the strengths and weaknesses of health organizations to modify the professional practices.

Clinical impact and cost-consequence analysis of ePlex® blood culture identification panels for the rapid diagnosis of bloodstream infections: a single-center randomized controlled trial.

To assess clinical impact and perform cost-consequence analysis of the broadest multiplex PCR panels available for the rapid diagnosis of bloodstream infections (BSI). Single-center, randomized controlled trial conducted from June 2019 to February 2021 at a French University hospital with an institutional antimicrobial stewardship program. Primary endpoint was the percentage of patients with optimized antimicrobial treatment 12 h after transmission of positivity and Gram stain results from the first positive BC.

Parental involvement and adjustment during the diagnostic evaluation of autism spectrum disorder at two diagnostic centers.

Objectives: The primary objective of this study was to determine the effects of permanent, mediated parental presence during all autism spectrum disorder diagnostic evaluations on parental adjustment (perceived parental stress and sense of parental competence) compared with procedures that traditionally only involve parents in pivotal periods of the diagnosis. The level of satisfaction with the diagnostic procedure and parents' needs were also evaluated to complete this first objective. The secondary objective was to assess the effects of psychosocial, individual, and contextual variables on perceived parental stress and sense of parental competence.

Focal changes in alpha oscillations during short-term memorization of pain: a high-density electroencephalogram study with source localization.

Memories of painful events constitute the basis for assessing patients' pain. This study explores the brain oscillatory activity during short-term memorization of a nociceptive stimulus. High-density EEG activity (128 electrodes) was recorded in 13 healthy subjects during a match-to-sample sensory discrimination task, whereby participants compared the intensity of a thumb-located electric shock (S2) with a prior stimulus to the same location (S1) delivered 8-10 s earlier.

Substance use disorder of equimolar oxygen-nitrous oxide mixture in French sickle-cell patients: results of the PHEDRE study.

Background: In many countries, nitrous oxide is used in a gas mixture (EMONO) for short-term analgesia. Cases of addiction, with significant misuse, have been reported in hospitalized patients. Patients suffering from sickle cell disease (SCD) could represent a high-risk population for substance use disorder (SUD) due to their significant pain crisis and repeated use of EMONO.

Adverse drug reaction profile of third-generation smallpox vaccines used in France during the 2022 monkeypox epidemic.

Due to the start of the monkeypox epidemic in 2022, we retrospectively analyzed the adverse drug reactions (ADRs) reported in France after monkeypox vaccinations with the third-generation smallpox vaccine. Ninety-eight cases, representing 172 ADRs, were reported. ADRs were mostly expected reactogenicity reactions occurring within days after the first dose of vaccine and having a quick favorable outcome.

The economic burden of asthma prior to death: a nationwide descriptive study.

Background: In addition to the clinical burden, asthma is responsible for a high economic burden. However, little is known about the economic burden of asthma prior to death.

Objective: We performed an economic analysis to describe the costs during 12 and 24 months prior to asthma death between 2013 and 2017 in France.

The paradoxes of telehealth platforms: what did we learn from the use of telehealth platforms?

This article is an overview and reflection of the findings of an evaluative study conducted on a program called "Techno-Covid Partnership" (TCP) implemented in April 2020 at the Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) in Montreal, Canada. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the CHUM decided in April 2020 to implement telehealth, virtual care, and telemonitoring platforms and technologies to maintain access to care and reduce the risks of contamination and spread of COVID-19 as well as to protect users of health services and health professionals. Three technological platforms for telehealth and remote care and monitoring have been developed, implemented, and evaluated in real-time within the framework of the TCP program.

Gadolinium-Based Magnetic Resonance Theranostic Agent with Gallic Acid as an Anti-Neuroinflammatory and Antioxidant Agent.

Studies in the field have actively pursued the incorporation of diverse biological functionalities into gadolinium-based contrast agents, aiming at the amalgamation of MRI imaging and therapeutic capabilities. In this research, we present the development of Gd-Ga, an anti-neuroinflammatory MR contrast agent strategically designed to target inflammatory mediators for comprehensive imaging diagnosis and targeted lesion treatment. Gd-Ga is a gadolinium complex composed of 1,4,7-tris(carboxymethylaza)cyclododecane-10-azaacetylamide (DO3A) conjugated with gallic acid (3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid).

Impact of textured surfaces on the orthostatic balance of patients with multiple sclerosis.

Objective: To perform posturographic measurements with eyes open or closed using floor coverings with different textured surfaces to study postural control in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Methods: Static posturographic recordings were performed with eyes open and eyes closed on a forceplate with no covering (control condition) or covered by a textured mat with small pimples (height 2 mm) or large pimples (height 7 mm). Several posturographic variables were measured, focusing on displacements of the center of pressure (CoP) including the average velocity (V), the total length (L) of all displacements, and the surface (S) of the confidence ellipse.

[Episodic memory and Alzheimer's disease: evolution of theories and clinical assessment tools].

Alzheimer's disease is characterized by an impairment of episodic memory in the early stages of the disease. Neuropsychological evaluation is performed for diagnostic purposes and to personalize follow-up. However, although many tests have been developed over the last few decades, not all of them seem to be able to meet this dual challenge.
