Small-area variation in child under-vaccination in India: a multilevel analysis of cross-sectional data from 36 states and Union Territories, 707 districts, and 22,349 small-area clusters.

Background: India has made exceptional advances in child immunisation, but subnational inequities in vaccination coverage impede attainment of key programmatic goals. Our study provides an up-to-date national portrait of local variations in child vaccination using a comprehensive set of indicators relevant to routine immunisation.

Methods: Indicators representing unvaccinated (zero-dose) children, incomplete basic immunisation, and vulnerability to measles and polio, were constructed from India's 2019-2021 National Family Health Survey.

ASOS, a national monitoring study to assess narcotic prescriptions and indications in France since 2001.

Introduction: Analgesics are among the most widely used drugs worldwide. The French Addictovigilance Network (FAN) established the antalgiques stupéfiants et ordonnances sécurisées (ASOS [narcotic analgesics and secure prescriptions]) survey in order to assess the dissemination of tamper-resistant prescription forms for narcotic analgesic within the medical community, as well as the nature and evolution of the prescriptions. After outlining the missions of the FAN, this article will describe the population treated with narcotic analgesics in France, their therapeutic indications and how the data have evolved since 2007.

Cost-utility of cochlear implantation in single-sided deafness and asymmetric hearing loss: results of a randomized controlled trial.

Objectives: To determine the Incremental Cost-Utility Ratio (ICUR) of cochlear implantation in the treatment of adult patients with single-sided deafness (SSD) and asymmetric hearing loss (AHL).

Methods: This prospective multicenter pragmatic study including a randomized controlled trial (RCT) enrolled 155 subjects with SSD or AHL. Subjects chose a treatment option between: abstention, Contralateral Routing Of the Signal hearing aids, Bone Conduction Device or Cochlear Implant (CI).

Lockdown imposed by the COVID 19 pandemic increased the time families spent together at home. A negative impact of the lock-down on children with autism has been reported. Few studies described the positive impact of parents' presence on the severity of their children's autism symptoms during lockdown.

[Over-the-counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications: Focus on the management of acute pain].

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are the second most widely used class of analgesics in France, after paracetamol. Some NSAIDs are available over the counter (OTC), without a prescription, on the advice of a pharmacist. NSAIDs have recently been the subject of safety alerts from France's Agence nationale de sécurité du médicament et des produits de santé (ANSM), highlighting a risk of worsening certain bacterial infections.

From the first pilot initiatives in the early 1990s to the national OSIAP survey in the 2020s: More than 30years of insight in medication diversion phenomenon in France.

This article proposes to trace back the timeline of the monitoring of falsified medical prescriptions in France as part of the French Addictovigilance System's toolbox. It examines the genesis of the OSIAP survey (Suspect Prescriptions Indicator of Possible Abuse), which has been held at the national level since 2001 but was created in the early 1990s, and its development until the current situation with a continuously confirmed yearly increasing trend. Understanding the birth and development of OSIAP and some other Addictovigilance tools that continue to be useful after more than 30 years of existence requires to review key historical benchmarks including the principles and missions of the former French National Commission on Narcotic and Psychotropic Drugs.

Inputs of pharmacoepidemiology in addictovigilance: How do they fit together?

The French Addictovigilance Network has been using data from the French Heath insurance since the late 1990s to assess prescription drug abuse. In this narrative review, we illustrate the inputs of pharmacoepidemiology in addictovigilance based on the experience of the French Addictovigilance Network. The review focuses on pharmacoepidemiology using the French National Health Data System.

Monitoring misuse and abuse of psychoactive substances in France: Insights from substance abuse treatment facilities through the OPPIDUM program.

The OPPIDUM program was first created in 1990. It is an annual, repeated, cross-sectional, nationwide, multicenter program. Data are provided directly from users of psychoactive substances (PAS) seen in substance abuse treatment facilities.

Humanizing neuropsychological assessment: The role of empathy.

Context: Recent research and the majority of neuropsychological testing manuals emphasize the importance of establishing a proper relationship between the evaluator and the evaluatee. However, there is relatively little empirical research on this point.

[Promoting mental health recovery through metacognitive reflection and insight therapy (MERIT): A systematic literature review].

Objectives: To demonstrate the effects of a metacognitive reflection and insight therapy (MERIT) in people suffering from psychiatric disorders.

Method: A systematic review was carried out on PubMed, PsychInfo, Psycharticles and Psychological and Behavioral Science Collection from 1980 to 2024.

Results: The review included five randomized controlled studies, four observational group studies and 22 case studies with quantitative measures.

Background: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is the gold standard treatment for aortic stenosis in the elderly. Pre-identification of patients likely to benefit from this procedure remains crucial. A standardised geriatric assessment is used to identify the major geriatric syndromes likely to influence postoperative outcomes.

Systematic scoping review of cluster randomised trials conducted exclusively in low-income and middle-income countries between 2017 and 2022.

Objective: Cluster randomised trials (CRTs) are used for evaluating health-related interventions in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs) but raise complex ethical issues. To inform the development of future ethics guidance, we aim to characterise CRTs conducted exclusively in LMICs by examining the types of clusters, settings, author affiliations and primary clinical focus and to evaluate adherence to trial registration and ethics reporting requirements over time.

Design: A systematic scoping review using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews.

Five-year effects of cognitive training in individuals with mild cognitive impairment.

Introduction: In a 5-year follow-up study, we investigated the enduring effects of cognitive training on older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).

Methods: A randomized controlled single-blind trial involved 145 older adults with MCI, assigned to cognitive training (MEMO+), an active control psychosocial intervention, or a no-contact condition. Five-year effects were measured on immediate and delayed memory recall, the Montreal Cognitive Assessment screening test (MoCA), self-reported strategy use, and daily living difficulties.

Ankle torque variance is a better indicator of balance control performance than plantar perceptual sensitivity threshold.

We explored whether ankle torque variability or plantar perceptual threshold explains human balance control more effectively. We hypothesized that ankle torque variance is a better indicator of center of pressure (COP) velocity variance than plantar perceptual sensitivity. Two conditions were tested: loaded (23-kg vest added) and unloaded, as loading should diminish plantar sensitivity and increase COP velocity variability.

Accessing mental health services for adolescents and young adults is often complex and delayed due to challenges in service visibility, accessibility and appropriateness.

Efficacy of a Combination Treatment of Ablative Fractional Carbon Dioxide Laser Therapy and Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor for Atrophic Acne Scars.

Background: Atrophic acne scars (AAS) are disfiguring and permanent changes caused by inflammatory acne. Fractional carbon dioxide is a common ablative device used to treat this condition. However, issues such as unclear effectiveness, frequent treatments, and potential side effects exist.

Introduction: Typical Alzheimer's disease (AD) and limbic-predominant age-related TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43) encephalopathy (LATE) are two neurodegenerative diseases that present with a similar initial amnestic clinical phenotype but are associated with distinct proteinopathies.
