Bevacizumab shows inter-individual pharmacokinetic variability, with an exposure-response relationship in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patients. This study explores whether a double dose of bevacizumab, compared to a standard dose, increases efficacy in mCRC patients treated with bevacizumab-based chemotherapy as first-line therapy and who have a low initial trough concentration of bevacizumab. PHARBEVACOL is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, two-parallel group trial.

Background: A key-population approach to sexually transmitted disease prevention does not fully take into account the multidimensional nature of sexual risk behavior. Visits to sexual health centers for HIV/STI screening provide an opportunity to spread prevention messages and tools, but few data are available on patients' sexual and prevention behaviors. This study aimed to identify the profile of patients consulting for HIV/STI testing in a Parisian sexual health center.

Introduction And Aims: EMONO (equimolar oxygen-nitrous oxide mixture) is widely used in dentistry to achieve sedation for dental care. In addition, pure nonmedical nitrous oxide (N2O) has become a very popular psychoactive substance among health students. Thus, for dental students, the perception of a same substance, N2O, which can either be used as medicine in the form of EMONO in their daily practice, or consumed illegally for recreational purposes in the form of pure nonmedical N2O, is of concern.

Chronic pain affects a substantial portion of the population, yet current treatments often fail to provide adequate relief. Non-pharmacological interventions, which target behaviors and brain processes underlying the experience of pain, hold promises in offering relief for people with chronic pain. This review consolidates the current knowledge concerning the efficacy of non-pharmacological interventions for chronic pain.

Study Objectives: This multi-center comparative cross-sectional study aimed to describe educational and occupational pathways, quantify effort/reward imbalance at work and identify factors associated with professional prognosis in patients with narcolepsy type 1 (NT1).
Methods: Adult patients with NT1 and controls answered online questionnaires (Epworth sleepiness Scale, Beck Depression Inventory II, Siegrist questionnaire, Adult Self-Report, and a questionnaire on academic and professional trajectories) and were compared using sex- and age-adjusted logistic regressions. Clinical, demographic and psycho-social factors associated with patients' professional prognosis, as assessed by a composite score based on occupational-related outcomes, were explored with a generalized linear model.

High-concentration capsaicin patch (HC capsaicin patch) is a locally acting treatment option for adults with peripheral neuropathic pain (pNeP) of various etiologies. Numerous clinical trials, post hoc analyses, and meta-analyses have investigated the efficacy and tolerability of the HC capsaicin patch. Despite this extensive body of research, a comprehensive narrative review covering publications on different pNeP conditions is lacking.

Despite the growing deployment of the Montessori method in nursing homes, there is no instrument to measure its implementation fidelity, limiting the interpretation of results. Our aims are to i) develop an evaluation grid for the Montessori method in nursing homes; ii) explore its sensitivity to practice heterogeneity among institutions pre-training; and iii) study its sensitivity to change after the training. Based on literature and expert opinions, we created an evaluation grid.

Focusing on a single source within a complex auditory scene is challenging. M/EEG-based auditory attention detection (AAD) allows to detect which stream an individual is attending to within a set of multiple concurrent streams. The high interindividual variability in the auditory attention detection performance often is attributed to physiological factors and signal-to-noise ratio of neural data.

An analysis of 1771 Canadian adults who smoke or used to smoke cigarettes was conducted using data from the 2022 International Tobacco Control Four Country Smoking and Vaping Survey. Using weighted data, we estimated the prevalence of Canadian adults who tried to quit smoking between 2020 and 2022, and the use of a nicotine vaping product (NVP) and the flavours and devices used most often at their most recent quit attempt. Overall, 36.

Background: Advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) are essential to care for the growing number of individuals with advanced illness given the shortage of palliative care clinicians.
Problem: Graduate education for specialty practice palliative APRNs lacks consistency in structure, content, and standardization of specialty palliative APRN education.
Approach: A workgroup of expert palliative APRNs and graduate faculty conducted focused discussions and a literature review to develop consensus recommendations based on national palliative APRN competencies and aligned with the 8 core concepts of the AACN Essentials.

Pain associated with cancer is often the first symptom reported with major repercussions on patient's quality of life. Mechanical compression, release of algogenic substances by the tumor or the complications of oncologic treatment represent the major causes. Nociceptive and neuropathic pain are both induced by different mediators that give rise to a neuroinflammation creating a peripheral and central sensitization responsible of chronic pain.

Gaucher disease (GD), an autosomal recessive lysosomal disorder, primarily affects the lysosomal enzyme β-glucocerebrosidase (GCase), leading to glucosylceramide accumulation in lysosomes. GD presents a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations. This study deploys immune-based proteomics and mass spectrometry-based metabolomics technologies to comprehensively investigate the biochemical landscape in 43 deeply phenotyped type 1 GD patients compared to 59 controls.

The opioid epidemic has emerged in the USA in the late 1990s and widespread to Canada, Australia, and the UK to a lesser extent in the more recent years. At the European level, several studies performed in different European countries have highlighted that prescription opioid use increased substantially over the last decade, and several proxies for misuse show a parallel increasing trend. The French addictovigilance experience on opioid analgesics is a good example of a specific dedicated monitoring, taking into account in a global and multisource perspective, patterns of utilization, population involved in problematic use, ways of acquisition and health complications.

Background: Stroke patients typically suffer from a range of symptoms, such as motor and language impairments, due to shared neural networks. The recovery process after stroke is intricate and requires a comprehensive approach. While previous studies have investigated the motor and language interventions independently, this study aimed to explore the relationship between these domains and compared the effectiveness of individual interventions versus their combined use.

Addictovigilance is a French health monitoring system, composed of 13 centres distributed across the national territory, that aims to monitor cases of abuse, misuse, or use disorders related to psychoactive substances. Fulfilling these missions requires a regional network that ensures efficient information flow, dissemination to health authorities, and subsequent downward communication to prevent risks. This was illustrated through the example of nitrous oxide misuse.
