Unlabelled: Older adults receiving home care services often face decisions related to aging, illness, and loss of autonomy. To inform tailored shared decision making interventions, we assessed their decisional needs by asking about the most common difficult decisions, measured associated decisional conflict, and identified factors associated with it. In March 2020, we conducted a cross-sectional survey with a pan-Canadian Web-based panel of older adults (≥65 y) receiving home care services.

Rationale: Clinical practice guidelines support structured, progressive protocols for improving walking after stroke. Yet, practice is slow to change, evidenced by the little amount of walking activity in stroke rehabilitation units. Our recent study (n = 75) found that a structured, progressive protocol integrated with typical daily physical therapy improved walking and quality-of-life measures over usual care.

Inertial motion capture (IMC) has gained popularity in conducting ergonomic studies in the workplace. Because of the need to measure contact forces, most of these in situ studies are limited to a kinematic analysis, such as posture or working technique analysis. This paper aims to develop and evaluate an IMC-based approach to estimate back loading during manual material handling (MMH) tasks.

Very few studies have examined differences between experts' and novices' foot positioning and movements during manual materials handling tasks. The impact of footstep patterns on low back loading needs to be better understood. The goals of this study were to characterize foot placement and movements in novices and experts and to assess their impact on back loading considering the height of grasp.

Background: The cocreation of eHealth solutions with potential users, or co-design, can help make the solution more acceptable. However, the co-design research approach requires substantial investment, and projects are not always fruitful. Researchers have provided guidelines for the co-design approach, but these are either applicable only in specific situations or not supported by empirical data.

Introduction: Lack of standardised clinical data collection may lead to reduced quality in musculoskeletal (MSK)-related clinical care and research. Little is known about the availability and characteristics of minimal clinical data sets for spine-related MSK disorders in primary care and outpatient settings and their utility for improving healthcare quality. Our objective is to undertake a scoping review aiming to identify and map current literature on minimal clinical data sets for measuring and monitoring health status in patients with spine-related MSK disorders in primary and outpatient healthcare settings.

Background: Frail older adults and caregivers need support from their home care teams in making difficult housing decisions, such as whether to remain at home, with or without assistance, or move into residential care. However, home care teams are often understaffed and busy, and shared decision-making training is costly. Nevertheless, overall awareness of shared decision-making is increasing.

Despite well-documented benefits of rehabilitation and therapy services for children with disabilities, long waiting lists to access these services are common. There is a growing body of evidence, primarily from mixed or adult services, demonstrating that waiting times can be reduced through strategies that target wasteful processes and support services to keep up with demand. However, providers of rehabilitation and therapy services for children face additional complexities related to the long-term nature of many developmental conditions and the need to consider timing of interventions with developmental milestones and education transition points.

Objectives The emergence of early intervention for first episode psychosis (FEP) in the 1990s represents a major advance in mental health. It was demonstrated that by providing intensive interventions tailored to the specific needs of youth at the onset of FEP, it became possible to sustainably improve their subsequent course. This model of early intervention for psychosis (EIP) is accompanied by a major revision of conceptions of psychotic disorders and a major change in philosophy of care.

Clinique Aufréry, Pin-Balma, France.
Objectives Until the early 1990s, a pessimistic view of psychotic disorders, based on the Kraepelinian perspective, prevailed. Early intervention then introduced a new paradigm, approaching psychosis as a more dynamic phenomenon, for which recovery is possible, provided an appropriate approach is used. As this paradigm has not penetrated all fields of psychiatry, professionals starting in early intervention sometimes experience a real culture shock, the objective of this article being to map its contours in order to facilitate this transition.
