Parental nurturing touch plays a crucial role in early infant development by activating C-Tactile afferents, which trigger neurobiological pathways essential for parent-infant bonding and the building of attachment. This process is said to regulate the infant's parasympathetic nervous system, fostering emotional and physiological connection with the caregiver. Research has consistently shown that CT-mediated touch enhances infant parasympathetic tone, yet no clear patterns of mutual co-regulation between parent and infant have been reported.

Postpartum physical activity (PA) is an important component of the woman's health. Recently, more attention has been paid to develop guidance for safe return to PA after delivery, including return to running. Little is known about when women start PA after delivery and what type of PA they are practicing.

Background: Gestational hypertension (GH) is linked to an increased risk of cardiometabolic diseases for both mother and child, but we lack reliable biomarkers to identify high-risk women early in pregnancy. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNA that have emerged as promising biomarkers for pregnancy complications. We thus aimed to identify first trimester circulating miRNAs associated with GH and to build a miRNA-based algorithm to predict GH incidence.

Tau is a microtubule protein that is known to be hyperphosphorylated and to aggregate in several chronic neurodegenerative disorders. In many cases, in particular in Alzheimer's disease, the degree of tau pathology has been demonstrated to correlate with cognitive deficits and/or decline. In Huntington's disease (HD), a dominantly inherited neurodegenerative disorder, both cognitive impairments and abnormal tau expression have been reported to occur, along with the accumulation of the mutant huntingtin protein.

Introduction: The interplay between HIV and cysticercosis in co-endemic regions remains poorly understood, particularly regarding the immune responses but is relevant for an effective treatment strategy. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between peripheral cytokine profiles, CD4 T-cell counts, and cysticercosis infection status in HIV-positive individuals in Tanzania's southern highlands.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study involving 110 HIV-positive individuals.

Purpose: There are currently no best practice training methods with communication assistive devices (CAD) for individuals with deafblindness using a braille display notetaker connected to an iPhone. Therefore, to capture adoption and usability of braille CAD in clinic, the Technology development and evaluation model of Schulz et al. (2015) was applied.

Background: Selective attention is essential to filter the constant flow of sensory information reaching the brain. The contribution of theta neuronal oscillations to attentional function has been the subject of several electrophysiological studies, yet no causal relationship has been established between theta rhythms and selective attention mechanisms.
Objective And Hypotheses: We aimed to clarify the causal role of theta oscillations in inter-sensory selective attention processes by combining transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) and electrophysiology (EEG) techniques.

Importance: Accessing mental health care is challenging for youths, especially those facing intersectional disadvantages, but whether enhancing youth services increases reach and timeliness has rarely been investigated. ACCESS Open Minds (ACCESS-OM) transformed services at urban, rural, and Indigenous sites in Canada using 5 principles (early identification, rapid access, appropriate care, no age-based transitions from 11-25 years, and youth and family engagement).
Objective: To evaluate whether the number of youths referred (hypothesis 1), offered evaluation appointments within 72 hours of referral (hypothesis 2), and receiving services within 30 days of the first appointment (hypothesis 3) increased over the course of ACCESS-OM's implementation.

Purpose: We aimed to describe the development of a tailored, theory-informed training session for an outcome measure (the Mayo-Portland Adaptability Inventory), and evaluate the session's impact on clinician reactions, learning, and behavioural intent.
Materials And Methods: We developed the training session using an integrated knowledge translation approach with stroke outpatient rehabilitation clinicians in Québec, Canada. We conducted a mixed-method explanatory sequential evaluation informed by the New World Kirkpatrick Model (reaction, learning, behavioural intent) composed of three surveys followed by interviews.

Background: Digital twins (DTs) are digital representations of real-world systems, enabling advanced simulations, predictive modeling, and real-time optimization in various fields, including health care. Despite growing interest, the integration of DTs in health care faces challenges such as fragmented applications, ethical concerns, and barriers to adoption.
Objective: This study systematically reviews the existing literature on DT applications in health care with three objectives: (1) to map primary applications, (2) to identify key challenges and limitations, and (3) to highlight gaps that can guide future research.

Importance: Understanding the characteristics of discordance between plasma biomarkers and positron emission tomography (PET) results in Alzheimer disease (AD) is crucial for accurate interpretation of the findings.
Objective: To compare (1) medical comorbidities affecting plasma biomarker concentrations, (2) imaging and clinical features, and (3) cognitive changes between plasma biomarker and PET discordant and concordant cases.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This multicenter cohort study, conducted between 2016 and 2023, included individuals with unimpaired cognition, mild cognitive impairment, or Alzheimer-type dementia, who had both amyloid β (Aβ) PET imaging and plasma biomarkers.

Background: Regular physical activity is a key, patient-centred therapy for people with diabetes to manage their glycaemia. The International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) recommends optimisation of glycaemic control for people with/at risk of diabetes-related foot ulcer (DFU), however people with DFU are commonly instructed by clinicians to avoid physical activity so as not to worsen the ulcer. The effects of exercise on glycaemia, fitness, and wound healing in people with active DFU are not clear.

Leaks and fistulas are serious complications following gastrointestinal surgeries, traditionally managed by self-expandable metal stents and endoscopic vacuum therapy. The stent-over-sponge (SOS) technique is a new modality used as a rescue option when other interventions fail. This report presents the case of a 60-year-old female patient who underwent revisional bariatric surgery and developed a leak post-operation.

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a chronic disorder affecting 462 million worldwide, often managed with metformin as first-line treatment. However, metformin's response varies among individuals, including up to 30% experiencing serious adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and 20-50% inefficacy. These differences may be due to various factors, including pharmacogenetic (PGx) variants.

This phase 3 multicenter, randomized, controlled clinical trial evaluated investigational cellular product (MDR-101) to produce immune tolerance vs standard of care, in kidney transplant recipients. Adult recipients of kidneys from 2-haplotype human leukocyte antigen-matched living siblings were randomized 2:1 to treatment (n = 20) or control (n = 10). The MDR-101 product was from the same kidney donor.

Context: World is aging and the prevalence of chronic diseases is raising with age, increasing financial strain on organizations but also affecting patients' quality of life until death. Research on healthcare trajectories has gained importance, as it can help anticipate patients' needs and optimize service organization. In an overburdened system, it is essential to develop automated methods based on comprehensive and reliable and already available data to model and predict healthcare trajectories and future utilization.
