Polypharmacy (PP) and hyperpolypharmacy (HPP), are prevalent among cancer patients and are associated with an increased risk of drug-drug interactions (DDI) and potentially inappropriate medications (PIM). This study aimed to characterize PP, HPP, DDI, and PIM in patients with hematological malignancies hospitalized for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) by introducing a novel metric: cumulative drug exposure. Clinical data warehouse (CDW) records were employed to develop algorithms that quantified patients' cumulative exposure to these prescribing determinants during hospitalization.

Background: Choroid plexus (ChP) enlargement is an emerging radiological biomarker in multiple sclerosis (MS).
Objectives: This study aims to assess ChP volume in a large cohort of patients with radiologically isolated syndrome (RIS) versus healthy controls (HC) and explore its relationship with other brain volumes, disease activity, and biological markers.
Methods: RIS individuals were included retrospectively and compared with HC.

This study aimed to assess the feasibility of applying two recent phase I meta-analyses methods to protein kinase inhibitors (PKIs) developed in oncology and to identify situations where these methods could be both feasible and useful. This ancillary study used data from a systematic review conducted to identify dose-finding studies for PKIs. PKIs selected for meta-analyses were required to have at least five completed dose-finding studies involving cancer patients, with available results, and dose escalation guided by toxicity assessment.

Background: This study aimed to compare the humoral responses to mRNA COVID-19 vaccination in people living with HIV (PWH) and HIV-negative individuals.
Methods: We included PWH with an undetectable viral load under ART and HIV-negative participants from the French nationwide ANRS COV-POPART cohort who had received two doses of vaccine as a primary vaccination. We compared humoral response between controls and PWH, stratified by CD4 cell count (<200/mm and ≥200/mm CD4 cell counts) at 1, 6, and 12 months after primary vaccination.

The treatment of depressive episodes is well established, with clearly demonstrated effectiveness of antidepressants and psychotherapies. However, more than one-third of depressed patients do not respond to treatment. Identifying the brain structural basis of treatment-resistant depression could prevent useless pharmacological prescriptions, adverse events, and lost therapeutic opportunities.

Generators of space-time dynamics in bioimaging have become essential to build ground truth datasets for image processing algorithm evaluation such as biomolecule detectors and trackers, as well as to generate training datasets for deep learning algorithms. In this contribution, we leverage a stochastic model, called birth-death-move (BDM) point process, in order to generate joint dynamics of biomolecules in cells. This particle-based stochastic simulation method is very flexible and can be seen as a generalization of well-established standard particle-based generators.

In July 2023, the Center of Excellence in Respiratory Pathogens organized a two-day workshop on infectious diseases modelling and the lessons learnt from the Covid-19 pandemic. This report summarizes the rich discussions that occurred during the workshop. The workshop participants discussed multisource data integration and highlighted the benefits of combining traditional surveillance with more novel data sources like mobility data, social media, and wastewater monitoring.

Background: Epidemiological data reveal that 45% of persons with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) in France are more than 50 years. This population more than 50 is more susceptible to cancer, and this risk may be increased by frequent use of immunosuppressive drugs. Consequently, concerns have arisen about the potential increased risk of cancer in PwMS and how patients should be screened and managed in terms of cancer risk.

Increasing evidence shows that flaws in machine learning (ML) algorithm validation are an underestimated global problem. In biomedical image analysis, chosen performance metrics often do not reflect the domain interest, and thus fail to adequately measure scientific progress and hinder translation of ML techniques into practice. To overcome this, we created Metrics Reloaded, a comprehensive framework guiding researchers in the problem-aware selection of metrics.

Validation metrics are key for tracking scientific progress and bridging the current chasm between artificial intelligence research and its translation into practice. However, increasing evidence shows that, particularly in image analysis, metrics are often chosen inadequately. Although taking into account the individual strengths, weaknesses and limitations of validation metrics is a critical prerequisite to making educated choices, the relevant knowledge is currently scattered and poorly accessible to individual researchers.

Background: Scaffolding is an intermediate stage of fragment assembly. It consists in orienting and ordering the contigs obtained by the assembly of the sequencing reads. In the general case, the problem has been largely studied with the use of distances data between the contigs.

MANAGEMENT OF AN AMNESIC PATIENT. Until the early 1980s, neuropsychological rehabilitation of amnesic syndromes was limited to extensive repeated practice ('cognitive drill'). The ineffectiveness of these methods is now acknowledged, if the therapeutic target concerns daily life.

Background: Apathy is associated with reduced antidepressant response and dementia in late-life depression (LLD). However, the functional cerebral basis of apathy is understudied in LLD. We investigated the functional connectivity of 5 resting-state networks (RSN) hypothesized to underlie apathy in LLD.

We present and share a large database containing electroencephalographic signals from 87 human participants, collected during a single day of brain-computer interface (BCI) experiments, organized into 3 datasets (A, B, and C) that were all recorded using the same protocol: right and left hand motor imagery (MI). Each session contains 240 trials (120 per class), which represents more than 20,800 trials, or approximately 70 hours of recording time. It includes the performance of the associated BCI users, detailed information about the demographics, personality profile as well as some cognitive traits and the experimental instructions and codes (executed in the open-source platform OpenViBE).

Assessment of minimal residual disease in acute lymphoblastic leukemia by immune repertoire NGS requires spiking CDR3 sequences at known quantities into the patient's sample. Recently, the EuroClonality-NGS group released one of the most comprehensive protocols for this purpose. ARResT/Interrogate is a closed-source software for processing these NGS libraries, developed by this same group.

Objective: The Fluid And White matter Suppression (FLAWS) MRI sequence provides multiple T1-weighted contrasts of the brain in a single acquisition. However, the FLAWS acquisition time is approximately 8 min with a standard GRAPPA 3 acceleration factor at 3 T. This study aims at reducing the FLAWS acquisition time by providing a new sequence optimization based on a Cartesian phyllotaxis k-space undersampling and a compressed sensing (CS) reconstruction.

Objectives: We aimed to investigate the 1-month humoral response to two or three doses of a messenger RNA coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine as a primary vaccination regimen in specific populations compared with that in healthy adults.
Methods: Agence Nationale Recherche contre le Sida (ANRS)0001S-COV-POPART (NCT04824651) is a French nation-wide, multi-centre, prospective, observational cohort study assessing the immune response to COVID-19 vaccines routinely administered to 11 sub-groups of patients with chronic conditions and two control groups. Patients and controls who received at least two vaccine doses and whose results 1 month after the second dose were available were included.
