For several years, our society has been experiencing an aging of the population. Concurrently, there has been an observable increase in the population of nursing homes (EHPAD). The context of a global epidemic and the public health measures implemented to address it have underscored the vulnerability of our elderly population and the need for remote consultations to ensure continuity of care.

Background: Determining which patients with ARDS are most likely to benefit from lung recruitment maneuvers is challenging for physicians. The aim of this study was to assess whether the single-breath simplified decremental PEEP maneuver, which evaluates potential lung recruitment, may predict a subject's response to lung recruitment maneuvers, followed by PEEP titration.
Methods: We conducted a pilot prospective single-center cohort study with a 3-step protocol that defined sequential measurements.

We hypothesized that fit older patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) treated with decitabine (DEC) would report better health-related quality of life (HRQoL) outcomes than those receiving intensive chemotherapy (IC). We conducted a phase 3 randomized trial to compare DEC (10-day schedule) with IC (3+7) in older fit patients with AML. HRQoL was a secondary end point, and it was assessed with the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 (EORTC QLQ-C30) in conjunction with its elderly module (EORTC QLQ-ELD14).

Background: Whether the optimization of cerebral oxygenation based on regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rSO) monitoring reduces the occurrence of cerebral ischemic lesions is unknown.
Methods: This multicenter, randomized, controlled trial recruited adults admitted for scheduled carotid endarterectomy. Patients were randomized between the standard of care or optimization of cerebral oxygenation based on rSO monitoring using near-infrared spectroscopy.

Background And Aims: Ampullary lesions (ALs) of the minor duodenal papilla are extremely rare. Endoscopic papillectomy (EP) is a routinely used treatment for AL of the major duodenal papilla, but the role of EP for minor AL has not been accurately studied.
Methods: We identified 20 patients with ALs of minor duodenal papilla in the multicentric database from the Endoscopic Papillectomy vs Surgical Ampullectomy vs Pancreatitcoduodenectomy for Ampullary Neoplasm study, which included 1422 EPs.

Background: Many older patients with acute myeloid leukaemia die or cannot undergo allogeneic haematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HSCT) due to toxicity caused by intensive chemotherapy. We hypothesised that replacing intensive chemotherapy with decitabine monotherapy could improve outcomes.
Methods: This open-label, randomised, controlled, phase 3 trial was conducted at 54 hospitals in nine European countries.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the REIN (French Renal Epidemiology and Information Network), a summary work on the contributions of the national French ESKD register was carried out. On the issue of its role in vigilance, the following key messages were retained. The vigilance system consists, among other things, of collecting information that is useful for the surveillance of health products that are drugs for pharmacovigilance, and medical devices for materiovigilance.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the REIN (French Renal Epidemiology and Information Network), a summary work on the contributions of the national French ESKD register was carried out. On the issue of its link with health authorities, the following key messages were retained. One of the purposes of REIN is to contribute to a better understanding about patient management and its evolution, and thus to be called upon to develop health strategies aimed at improving the prevention and treatment of chronic renal failure.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the REIN (French Renal Epidemiology and Information Network), a summary work on the contributions of the national French ESKD register was carried out. On the issue its role in research, the following key messages were retained. The growing number of publications, dissertations, theses and teams involved shows that the REIN registry has attained its objective of being a shared research infrastructure, in the field of epidemiology as well as in public health, health economics or medical data processing.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the REIN (French Renal Epidemiology and Information Network), a summary work on the contributions of the national French ESKD register was carried out. On the issue of patients’ perspectives, the following key messages were retained. As shown by the SONG (Standardised Outcomes in Nephrology) initiative, the criteria for judging the dialysis treatment that patients and care-givers prefer are not those that are traditionally found in published studies.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze the predictability of virtual surgical planning of mandibular reconstruction by osteogenic distraction (OD) with a custom-made osteogenic distraction device (DEOS) after ballistic trauma and to make recommendations to mitigate potential sources of discrepancy.
Methods: This retrospective study involved 12 patients who were victims of facial mandibular ballistic trauma and were reconstructed with osteogenic distraction with a DEOS device. Postoperative images were compared to the planned situation by means of several measures made in two plans : distraction plane and frontal plane.

Developed in the late 1980s, rotational atherectomy has raised a lot of hope for its innovative principle of selective ablation, allowing volume reduction (instead of redistribution) of atherosclerotic plaque, while sparing healthy tissue. Long shunned for its disappointing results on restenosis, the Rotablator finally reasserted itself in the 2000s; era of drug eluting stents and coronary angioplasty boom, thus generating emergence of complex lesions. Indeed, the Rotablator has demonstrated an undeniable benefit in complex (type C) and calcified lesions preparation (before stenting), with a procedural success rate of 95%.

Goal: The aim of the study is to assess the incidence, risk factors and prognosis of definite stent thrombosis (ST) at 1 year in the France PCI multicenter prospective registry.
Patients And Methods: Only patients who underwent coronary angioplasty with at least one stent implantation between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2019 were included. The population was separated into 2 groups: the "ST" group with stent thrombosis and the "control" group without stent thrombosis.

Genetic testing is accepted to be a common practice in many medical specialties. These genetic tests raise issues such as respect for basic rights, how to handle results and uncertainty and how to balance concerns for medical confidentiality with the rights of third parties. Physicians need help to deal with the rapid development of genomic medicine as most of them have received no specific training on the medical, ethical, and social issues involved.

Introduction: The diagnosis of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) can be challenging and rests on several principles. The use of diagnostic biomarkers, such as the synovial C-Reactive Protein (CRP), seems promising. The purpose of this study was to determine whether synovial CRP was a more discriminating test than serum CRP for the diagnosis of hip and knee PJI.

Background: Hemotropic mycoplasmas, previously classified in the genus Eperythrozoon, have been reported as causing human infections in Brazil, China, Japan, and Spain.
Methods: In 2017, we detected DNA from Candidatus Mycoplasma haemohominis in the blood of a Melanesian patient from New Caledonia presenting with febrile splenomegaly, weight loss, life-threatening autoimmune hemolytic anemia, and hemophagocytosis. The full genome of the bacterium was sequenced from a blood isolate.

Objective: To describe the course over time of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection in French women from the beginning of the pandemic until mid-April, the risk profile of women with respiratory complications, and short-term pregnancy outcomes.
Methods: We collected a case series of pregnant women with COVID-19 in a research network of 33 French maternity units between March 1 and April 14, 2020. All cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection confirmed by a positive result on real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction tests of a nasal sample and/or diagnosed by a computed tomography chest scan were included and analyzed.
