Background: Chest X-ray (CXR) interpretation is challenging for the diagnosis of paediatric TB. We assessed the performance of a three half-day CXR training module for healthcare workers (HCWs) at low healthcare levels in six high TB incidence countries.
Methods: Within the TB-Speed Decentralization Study, we developed a three half-day training course to identify normal CXR, CXR of good quality and identify six TB-suggestive features.
Setting: Côte d'Ivoire is a country with a high incidence of TB. The control of TB infection is focused on high-risk patients but has limited implementation.
Objective: Cost-benefit analysis of TB infection (TBI) screening of household contacts in Côte d'Ivoire to evaluate economic implications of the implementation of interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs) and the tuberculin skin test (TST).

Background: Nitrate is an inorganic compound that occurs naturally in all surface and groundwater, although higher concentrations tend to occur only where fertilizers are used on the land. The regulatory limit for nitrate in public drinking water supplies was set to protect against infant methemoglobinemia, but other health effects were not considered. Risk of specific cancers and congenital disabilities may be increased when the nitrate is ingested, and nitrate is reduced to nitrite, which can react with amines and amides by nitrosation to form N-nitroso compounds which are known animal carcinogens.

Feelings of shame may be an important factor implicated in the onset and maintenance of hallucination (or hearing voices). Shame has been shown to increase trauma-related intrusions and avoidance and may reinforce negative beliefs about the self, which in turn may contribute to hallucinations in clinical and non-clinical populations. To our knowledge, no study has so far explored the role of shame in hallucination-proneness.

Mucopolysaccharidosis III type C is a lysosomal storage disorder caused by the accumulation of heparan sulfate in lysosomes. The disorder occurs due to Heparan Acetyl-CoA: α-glucosaminide N-acetyltransferase (HGSNAT) deficiency, an enzyme which typically catalyzes the transmembrane acetylation of heparan sulfate, a basement membrane component. When the gene encoding this enzyme is mutated, it cannot perform the processing of heparan sulfate, leading to un-acetylated heparan sulfate build-up in the lysosomes of cells, causing a storage disorder.

Mammalian neuraminidases are responsible for the removal of sialic acids from glycoproteins and glycolipids and function in a variety of biological phenomena such as lysosomal catabolism and control of cell differentiation and growth. Disruption of Neu3 and Neu4 genes has led to the generation of a mouse model revealing severe neurological disorders. In this study a morphological analysis was performed on the epididymis of 3 month-old neu3-/-neu4-/- mice as compared with wild type animals.
