Objective: To evaluate the prognostic impact of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) detection at diagnosis (T0) and its early decrease after one cycle (T1) of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) in patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) included in the CHIVA trial (NCT01583322).

Methods: Blood samples were collected at T0 and before each administration of NACT. Circulating tumor DNA detection was performed by next-generation sequencing.

Curative criteria for endoscopic treatment of colorectal cancer.

As endoscopic treatment enables en bloc resection of T1 colorectal cancers, the risk of recurrence, often assimilated to the risk of lymph node metastases, must be assessed in order to offer patients an additional treatment if this risk is deemed significant. The curative criteria currently used by most guidelines are depth of invasion <1 mm, well or moderately differentiated tumour, absence of lympho-vascular invasion, absence of significant budding and tumour-free resection margins. However, these factors must be assessed by qualified pathologists, as they are difficult to evaluate.

Immersive virtual patient simulation could help medical students in clinical reasoning, but there is a lack of literature on the effectiveness of this method in healthcare learning. A pilot randomised controlled study compared performance (exam score) on a clinical case in immersive virtual simulation to a text for physiotherapy students. In the experimental group, the clinical case was presented by an immersive 360° video that students watched with a standalone headset, whereas the control group used the text only.

A ring trial to harmonize Toxoplasma gondii microsatellite typing: comparative analysis of results and recommendations for optimization.

A ring trial among five European laboratories was organized to reach consistency in microsatellite (MS) typing of the zoonotic parasite Toxoplasma gondii. Three sample sets were circulated and analyzed by each laboratory following a previously published method that is based on fragment length polymorphism of 15 MS markers. The first sample set compared typing results in general and focused on effects of DNA concentration; the second sample set focused on the polymorphic fingerprinting markers that can differentiate T.

The randomized phase II CHIVA trial evaluated the impact of combining nintedanib with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) for epithelial ovarian cancer.

Methods: Patients with newly diagnosed unresectable FIGO stage IIIC-IV epithelial ovarian cancer received 3-4 cycles of carboplatin plus paclitaxel every 3 weeks as NACT before interval debulking surgery (IDS), followed by 2-3 post-operative cycles.
