Background & Aims: Efficacy of radioembolization is derived from radioinduced damage, whereas tumour dosimetry is not considered as yet in prospective clinical trials.

Objectives: This study evaluates the impact of tumour dose (TD), based on Tc macroaggregated albumin (MAA) quantification, on response and overall survival (OS).

Materials And Methods: We consecutively included 85 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma treated with Y-loaded glass microspheres.

Unlabelled: The objective of this study was to evaluate the response rate and survival of hepatocellular carcinoma portal vein thrombosis (PVT) patients treated with (90)Y-loaded glass microspheres using a personalized dosimetry and intensification concept.

Methods: The microspheres were administered to 41 hepatocellular carcinoma PVT patients (main = 12; lobar/segmental = 29). (99m)Tc-macroaggregated albumin SPECT/CT quantitative analysis was used to calculate the tumor dose (TD), healthy injected liver dose (HILD), and injected liver dose (ILD).

This study reports the use of silicone prosthesis as a temporary spacer for comminuted fracture of the radial head. Twelve men and eight women with a mean age of 42 years (17-54) were operated on in an average of five days following a comminuted fracture of the radial head. Silicone radial head prosthesis was implanted with a mean duration of eight months (3-18) between implantation and removal.

Epithelioid sarcoma is a rare lesion usually involving extremities. We report the case of a patient presenting with an epithelioid sarcoma of the dorsal aspect of the thumb. Surgical treatment consisted in a wide resection, arthrodesis of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb and skin coverage with a kite flap.

We report the case of a 43-year-old woman who presented with a spontaneous pneumocephalus, 37 years after a mastoidectomy. Clinical examination showed a cerebrospinal fluid leak, meningeal herniation in the superior part of the middle ear, and an audible noise from her ear when she stood up due to the entrance of air into the cranium. A computed tomography scan and magnetic resonance imaging showed the complete destruction of the tegmen tympani and the pneumocephalus in the temporal lobe.

Iron excess is a potential liver-damaging factor, and bile salts can increase iron digestive absorption and iron biliary excretion. The aim of this study was to investigate in rats the effect of ursodeoxycholic acid, a bile salt used in the treatment of chronic liver disease, on the hepatic iron stores in normal and iron-overload conditions. UDCA was administered by gavage to Sprague-Dawley rats.

The risk of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation during NSAID use is unquestionably increased. The need for emergency surgery as well as mortality is also increased in NSAID users as compared to nonusers. However, the magnitude of these risks still remains imprecise.

A case of postoperative Pediococcus acidilactici septicemia with parallel isolation of the organism from hepatic specimens is presented. Laboratory methods to identify this vancomycin-resistant gram-positive cocci are described. Very few cases of documented infections due to this bacterium have been reported in the literature.
