Left atrial strain (LAS) was recently introduced as a parameter that reflects on left atrial function. Consequently, changes in LAS can inform the development of cardiovascular diseases, hence providing a window for non-invasive and cost-effective testing of these diseases and their complications at early stages of development, potentially offering a segway towards preventive interventions. LAS has yet to be implemented into standard practice.

Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on dialysis have a higher mortality rate associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Although vaccines are now available, the protective response rates and determinants of humoral response to the vaccine are poorly described in patients on peritoneal dialysis. This was a prospective observational study describing the response rates of detectable and standardized protective antibody titers one month after each mRNA vaccine dose in a cohort of 88 patients on peritoneal dialysis.

The hospital hygiene operational team at the Haguenau Hospital Center in the Bas-Rhin region conducted prospective surveillance of the condition of PICC line dressings both at the time of application and during use for hospitalized patients in 2019 and 2021. Infectious and mechanical complications were identified in both periods. A report on the results of the first survey was proposed to the institution's professionals.

Introduction: The occurrence of systemic capillary leak syndrome under immune checkpoint inhibitors has seldom been reported in the literature.
Observation: We report two cases of systemic capillary leak syndrome that occurred with nivolumab (anti-PD-1 antibody) for one, and with an anti-PD-1/CTLA-4 bi-specific antibody for the other. Patients presented with anasarca, hypoalbuminemia, acute kidney injury and, in one case, circulatory collapse.

Background: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection is more frequent and severe in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on maintenance haemodialysis (HD). Vaccines are now available, but the protective response rates and determinants of humoral response to the vaccine are poorly described.
Methods: This prospective observational study describes the response rates of detectable and protective antibody titres 1 month after each dose of an mRNA vaccine in a cohort of 851 patients on maintenance HD.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is associated with endothelial dysfunction. Pharmacologically targeting the different mechanisms of endothelial dysfunction may improve clinical outcomes and lead to reduced morbidity and mortality. In this pilot, double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial, we assigned patients who were admitted to the hospital with mild, moderate, or severe COVID-19 infection to receive, on top of optimal medical therapy, either an endothelial protocol consisting of (Nicorandil, L-arginine, folate, Nebivolol, and atorvastatin) or placebo for up to 14 days.

Classically, surgical repair or valve replacement were the only therapeutic options and are associated with up to 10% postprocedural mortality. Transcatheter tricuspid valve interventions are a novel and effective therapeutic option for the treatment of significant TR.

Faced with the risk of transmission of Sars-CoV-2, health professionals had to quickly learn how to protect themselves from possible contamination from the patients they cared for. The knowledge of the modes of dispersion of the virus made it possible to propose only complementary precautions "droplets" for the care of the patients with, for some, the need to wear a respiratory protection FFP2. After several months, we investigated the risk felt by the professionals and the feeling of safety that the different instructions concerning the wearing of surgical masks, FFP2 protection, gloves and hand hygiene gave them.

Many studies have evaluated the Neonatal Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program (NIDCAP), but few studies have assessed changes in infant- and family-centered developmental care (IFCDC) practices during its implementation. The primary objective of this single center study was to investigate the impact of the implementation of the NIDCAP program on IFCDC practices used for management of extremely preterm infants (EPIs). The secondary objective was to determine during implementation the impact of this program on the short-term medical outcomes of all EPIs hospitalized at our center.

Introduction: Mucormycosis are infections caused by molds of the order Mucorales. These opportunistic infections are rare, difficult to diagnose, and have a poor prognosis. We aimed to describe common radiographic patterns that may help to diagnose cerebral mucormycosis and search for histopathological correlations with imaging data.

Objectives: Patients who develop upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) while in hospital appear to have a poor prognosis. Our study aims at analysing the difference in outcome between in-patients (IPs) and out-patients presenting with variceal and non-variceal UGIB.
Methods: We conducted a multicentre prospective study by collecting data about variceal and non-variceal UGIB cases through 46 hospitals in France between November 2017 and October 2018.

The infection protection and control team and occupational health service come together every year to promote the flu vaccine among health professionals. In 2020, the risk of the co-circulation of the flu virus and SARS-CoV-2 strengthened their case. During the last trimester, we surveyed health professionals to find out their intention with regard to the flu and covid-19 vaccines: 42% said they wanted to be vaccinated against the flu, but only 23% were willing to have the covid-19 vaccine.
