Chitin-glucan (CG) is a new generation of prebiotic. NCFM (NCFM) is a probiotic with the ability to decrease abdominal pain. We evaluate the functional and molecular gastrointestinal responses to a synbiotic administration combining CG and NCFM in a rat model of long-lasting colon hypersensitivity.

This study was performed in 2021 in healthy volunteer children from 8 to 12 years.

Spontaneous Pneumomediastinum: A Possible Severe Condition in SARS-CoV-2 Pneumonia.

Late metastasis of renal cell carcinoma cloaked in a non-healing foot ulcer: A very rare presentation.

A 67-year-old male who underwent right radical nephrectomy 15 years prior to current diagnosis for pT2bN0M0 ccRCC presented with an isolated purulent ulcer on left foot. Data was collected from records, radiological scans and histological reviews. The non-healing ulcer did not respond to antibiotic therapy and surgical debridement.

A European, Observational, Prospective Trial of Trabectedin Plus Pegylated Liposomal Doxorubicin in Patients with Platinum-Sensitive Ovarian Cancer.

Purpose: The noninterventional, prospective NIMES-ROC phase IV study (NCT02825420) evaluated trabectedin plus pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) in real-life clinical practice.

Patients And Methods: Eligible participants included adults with platinum-sensitive recurrent ovarian cancer (PS-ROC) who had received one or more cycles of trabectedin/PLD before inclusion according to the marketing authorization. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS) according to investigator criteria.

Intraoperative ketorolac in high-risk breast cancer patients. A prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial.

Background: Ketorolac has been associated with a lower risk of recurrence in retrospective studies, especially in patients with positive inflammatory markers. It is still unknown whether a single dose of pre-incisional ketorolac can prolong recurrence-free survival.

Methods: The KBC trial is a multicenter, placebo-controlled, randomized phase III trial in high-risk breast cancer patients powered for 33% reduction in recurrence rate (from 60 to 40%).

What Can We Learn from Sarcopenia with Curarisation in the Context of Cancer Surgery? A Review of the Literature.

Introduction: The monitoring of the curarisation is a unique opportunity to investigate the function of the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) during cancer surgery, especially in frailty-induced and age-related sarcopenia.

Method: We conducted a comprehensive literature review in PubMed, without any limit of time related to frailty, sarcopenia, age and response to neuromuscular blockers in the context of cancer surgery.

Results: Several modifications appear with age: changes in cardiac output, a decrease in muscle mass and increase in body fat, the deterioration in renal and hepatic function, the plasma clearance and the volume of distribution in elderly are smaller.

Primitive Tumour of the Pulmonary Valve: Discussion of the Differential Diagnosis.

There is a paucity of information concerning cardiac tumours of the pulmonary valve due to their rarity at this location. We report a case of a 47-year-old patient suffering from haemoptysis, asthenia, and acute kidney injury (AKI). A transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) revealed a mass on the pulmonary valve.

Cancer surgery induces inflammation, immunosuppression and neo-angiogenesis, but is it influenced by analgesics?

Surgery remains a main part of the treatment of most solid tumors. Paradoxically, rapid disease progression may be a consequence of surgery in patients presenting with a dysregulated inflammatory response, and increased angiogenesis consequent to a suppressed antitumoral immune response. Physicians taking care of cancer patients should be aware of the important findings that indicate that analgesic techniques could play a role in these phenomena.
