Aims: Sacral neuromodulation (SNM) is a minimally invasive technique that provides effective treatment for the management of refractory overactive bladder (OAB), non-obstructive urinary retention (NOUR), and fecal incontinence (FI). This study assessed patient preferences between the currently available non-rechargeable SNM device and a new, full-body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-safe, smaller, rechargeable device.
Methods: An online cross-sectional survey was conducted among French OAB, NOUR, FI patients, recruited via a market research vendor.

Introduction: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) on a minimally invasive anterolateral (MIAL) approach frequently leads to gluteus minimus and gluteus medius lesions, and sometimes to tensor fasciae latae (TFL) denervation. We therefore developed compensatory strategies, which we assessed on pre- and post-operative MRI: 1) to assess gluteus minimus and gluteus medius fatty infiltration (FI), 2) to assess TFL FI, and 3) to assess FI in the other periarticular muscles.
Hypothesis: The modified MIAL approach reduces the rate of gluteus minimus and gluteus medius lesion.

Introduction: Minimally invasive approaches (direct anterior approach: DAA; minimally invasive anterolateral: MIAL; piriformis-sparing posterior approach: PSPA) are widely used for total hip arthroplasty (THA), with a muscle-sparing objective. There are no published comparative studies of muscle damage secondary to these approaches. The aim of the present study was to compare fatty infiltration (FI) on MRI induced by DAA, MIAL and PSPA in THA 1) in the tensor fasciae latae (TFL) and sartorius muscles, 2) in the gluteal muscles, and 3) in the pelvitrochanteric muscles.

Gastric electrical stimulation (GES) is currently used as an alternative treatment for medically refractory gastroparesis. GES has been initially developed to accelerate gastric motility, in order to relieve the symptoms of the patients. Subsequent studies, unfortunately, failed to demonstrate the acceleration of gastric emptying using high-frequency stimulation - low energy stimulation although the technique has shown a clinical impact with a reduction of nausea and vomiting for patients with gastroparesis.

Introduction: Expanded-criteria donors (ECDs) are used to reduce the shortage of kidneys for transplantation. However, kidneys from ECDs are associated with an increased risk of delayed graft function (DGF), a risk factor for allograft loss and mortality. HYPOREME will be a multicentre randomised controlled trial (RCT) comparing targeted hypothermia to normothermia in ECDs, in a country where the use of machine perfusion for organ storage is the standard of care.

Background: A major factor in the success of any search engine is the relevance of the search results; a tool should sort the search results to present the most relevant documents first. Assessing the performance of the ranking formula is an important part of search engine evaluation. However, the methods currently used to evaluate ranking formulae mainly collect quantitative data and do not gather qualitative data, which help to understand what needs to be improved to tailor the formulae to their end users.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of a nurse-led patient education on safety skills of patients with inflammatory arthritis treated with biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs).
Methods: This is a multicentre, open-labelled, randomised controlled trial comparing an intervention group (face-to-face education by a nurse at baseline and 3 months later) with a control group (usual care) at the introduction of a first subcutaneous bDMARD. The primary outcome was score on the BioSecure questionnaire at 6 months (0-100 scale), a validated questionnaire assessing competencies in dealing with fever, infections, vaccination and daily situations.

Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) need be better understood and more effectively treated, especially insofar as they are of pivotal importance in public health, particularly during a crisis such as the SARS-CoV2 pandemic. The prospective, multicentric cohort study of viral codetections in respiratory samples study known as ECOVIR was conducted in Normandy, France during two winters (2018-2019, 2019-2020). The objective of the project was to create a biobank of respiratory tract samples from patients consulting their general practitioner (GP) for ARI symptoms.

Background: Chronic pain affects approximately 30% of the general population, severely degrades quality of life (especially in older adults) and professional life (inability or reduction in the ability to work and loss of employment), and leads to billions in additional health care costs. Moreover, available painkillers are old, with limited efficacy and can cause significant adverse effects. Thus, there is a need for innovation in the management of chronic pain.

Introduction: Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA) leads to excellent clinical and functional results. The Minimally Invasive Anterior Approach (MIAA) theoretically allows rapid recovery and a reduction in the need for rehabilitation, but alterations in muscle and static balance have previously been demonstrated. Kinetic, kinematic and muscular alterations have been shown to persist up to 1year postoperatively but data beyond 1year postoperatively is lacking.

We suggest that this approach sheds new light on the upheavals caused by illness and more generally on the experience of illness itself. Our study draws on a series of 27 interviews with pemphigus patients whose average age was 57.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a main cause of death due to interplaying factors, including comorbidities that interfere with symptoms and response to therapy. It is now admitted that COPD management should be based on clinical symptoms and health status and should consider the heterogeneity of patients' phenotypes and treatable traits. This precision medicine approach involves a regular assessment of the patient's status and of the expected benefits and risks of therapy.

Little is known about patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) who require intensive care unit (ICU) admission. The goals of this study were to assess outcomes in patients admitted to the ICU for acute complications of SCD and to identify factors associated with adverse outcomes. This multicenter retrospective study included consecutive adults with SCD admitted to one of 17 participating ICUs.

Objectives: This study sought to determine if percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) prior to transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in patients with significant coronary artery disease would produce noninferior clinical results when compared with no PCI (control arm).
Background: PCI in patients undergoing TAVR is not without risk, and there are no randomized data to inform clinical practice.
Methods: Patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis and significant coronary artery disease with Canadian Cardiovascular Society class ≤2 angina were randomly assigned to receive PCI or no PCI prior to TAVR.

We determined the susceptibility of 182 Fusarium species isolates to five antifungal drugs (amphotericin B, voriconazole, posaconazole, isavuconazole, and terbinafine) by the EUCAST method. Based on the latest taxonomic insights, isolates collected from 20 European centers were distributed into seven complexes and 27 species. The susceptibility was variable, depending on the species.
