Background And Aims: Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a chronic disease that can progress to end-stage liver disease (ESLD). A large proportion of early-stage NASH patients remain undiagnosed compared to those with advanced fibrosis, who are more likely to receive disease management interventions. This study estimated the disease burden and economic impact of diagnosed NASH in the adult population of France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom in 2018.

The common co-occurrence of autoimmune systemic diseases in patients with neurological disorders and antibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65) suggests a shared genetic predisposition to these disorders. However, the nature and frequency of familial aggregation of autoimmune diseases, which might also support this hypothesis, have been poorly investigated. Herein, an exploratory, interview-based study was conducted with the aim of describing the autoimmune diseases displayed by the relatives of GAD65 neurological patients, their frequency, kinship, and potential patterns of inheritance.

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) has been described in patients treated with leflunomide. To assess the association between leflunomide and PH. We identified incident cases of PH in patients treated with leflunomide from the French PH Registry and through the pharmacoVIGIlAnce in Pulmonary ArTerial Hypertension (VIGIAPATH) program between September 1999 to December 2019.

Objective: Using real-world data from patients with growth hormone deficiency (GHD), we evaluated whether clinical practice in France adheres to international guidelines regarding somatropin dose adjustment, and assessed the long-term effectiveness and safety of somatropin.
Methods: Data were obtained from a national prospective systematic longitudinal routine follow-up programme of naive/non-naive adults with childhood-onset (CO) or adult-onset (AO) GHD treated with Norditropin® (Novo Nordisk A/S).
Results: Between 2003 and 2006, 331 treatment-naive and non-naive adults with severe GHD were enrolled and followed for a median duration of approximately 5 years; 328 patients were available for analysis.

The aim of the present study was to compare patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease (AD) or semantic dementia (SD) on their cognitive processes and the severity of their daily life activity impairments. Three types of tasks were administered to patients (SD = 15; AD = 31) and 30 healthy controls (HC): 1) informant-based scales and questionnaires, 2) a neuropsychological assessment exploring executive functions, episodic and semantic memory, and 3) a new original test featuring multi-step naturalistic actions and multitasking: the Sequential Daily Life Multitasking (SDLM). We predicted that patients with AD would mainly exhibit task perplexity, associated with episodic and executive deficits on the SDLM, while the behavior of patients with SD would mostly be characterized by object perplexity, associated with semantic memory deficits.

The myosin-directed chaperone UNC-45B is essential for sarcomeric organization and muscle function from Caenorhabditis elegans to humans. The pathological impact of UNC-45B in muscle disease remained elusive. We report ten individuals with bi-allelic variants in UNC45B who exhibit childhood-onset progressive muscle weakness.

Aortic stenosis, the most common valvular heart disease in Western countries, affects predominantly older people. Prompt aortic valve replacement is undoubtedly indicated in symptomatic patients. Management of asymptomatic patients is nowadays shifting from a conservative approach to early aortic valve replacement, as multimodality imaging is increasingly available.

Background Risk stratification of patients with low-gradient (LG) severe aortic stenosis (AS) despite preserved left ventricular ejection fraction remains challenging. We sought to evaluate the relationship between the dimensionless index (DI)-the ratio of the left ventricular outflow tract time-velocity integral to that of the aortic valve jet-and mortality in these patients. Methods Seven hundred fifty-five patients with LG severe AS (defined by aortic valve area ≤1 cm or aortic valve area indexed to body surface area ≤0.

Introduction: Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, intensive care units (ICU) can be overwhelmed by the number of hypoxemic patients.
Material And Methods: This single centre retrospective observational cohort study took place in a French hospital where the number of patients exceeded the ICU capacity despite an increase from 18 to 32 beds. Because of this, 59 (37%) of the 159 patients requiring ICU care were referred to other hospitals.

Purpose: Radioembolization has emerged as a treatment modality for patients with primary and secondary liver tumours. This observational study CIRT-FR (CIRSE Registry for SIR-Spheres Therapy in France) aims to evaluate real-life clinical practice on all patients treated with transarterial radioembolization (TARE) using SIR-Spheres yttrium-90 resin microspheres in France. In this interim analysis, safety and quality of life data are presented.

Bronchial diseases are characterised by the weak efficiency of mucus transport through the lower airways, leading in some cases to the muco-obstruction of bronchi. It has been hypothesised that this loss of clearance results from alterations in the mucus rheology, which are reflected in sputum samples collected from patients, making sputum rheology a possible biophysical marker of these diseases and their evolution. However, previous rheological studies have focused on quasi-static viscoelastic (linear storage and loss moduli) properties only, which are not representative of the mucus mobilisation within the respiratory tract.

CANOMAD (chronic ataxic neuropathy, ophthalmoplegia, immunoglobulin M [IgM] paraprotein, cold agglutinins, and disialosyl antibodies) is a rare syndrome characterized by chronic neuropathy with sensory ataxia, ocular, and/or bulbar motor weakness in the presence of a monoclonal IgM reacting against gangliosides containing disialosyl epitopes. Data regarding associated hematologic malignancies and effective therapies in CANOMAD are scarce. We conducted a French multicenter retrospective study that included 45 patients with serum IgM antibodies reacting against disialosyl epitopes in the context of evocating neurologic symptoms.

Objective: To assess, in real-life conditions, the success rate of the protocol mifepristone 600 mg / prostaglandin analogue (PG) in women requesting medical termination of pregnancy (MToP) either up to or beyond 7 weeks of amenorrhea (WA).
Study Design: The study was performed between 2015 and 2016. This was a non-interventional prospective, multicentre, longitudinal study conducted in France, among a sample of public and/or private centres dealing with MToP.

Background: Impaired left ventricular (LV) speckle-tracking-derived global longitudinal strain (GLS) magnitude (GLS worse than 14.7%) has been associated with poor outcome in patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS) and preserved LV ejection fraction (EF).
Objectives: To test the hypothesis that GLS magnitude ≤ 15% obtained with vendor-independent speckle-tracking strain software may be able to identify patients with severe AS who are at higher risk of death, despite preserved LVEF and no or mild symptoms.

However, clinical studies have demonstrated that episodes of brain ischaemia/hypoxia are common despite normalisation of intracranial pressure (ICP). This study assesses the impact on neurological outcome of guiding therapeutic strategies based on the monitoring of both brain tissue oxygenation pressure (PbtO) and ICP during the first 5 days following severe TBI.
