Background: Neutralizing antibodies targeting the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein reduce COVID-19-related risk of hospitalization, particularly in high-risk individuals. The COCOPREV-R study aimed to evaluate and compare clinical outcomes in high-risk SARS-CoV-2 patients treated with dual monoclonal antibody therapies and to identify associated virological factors.

Methods: The COCOPREV-R study retrospectively collected real-world data from high-risk patients receiving Bamlanivimab/Etesevimab or Casirivimab/Imdevimab dual monoclonal antibody therapies (22 February 2021 to 15 June 2021).

Background: The relationship between cerebral microbleeds (CMB) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) has not yet been clearly determined, particularly with susceptibility weight-imaging (SWI).

Objective: To evaluate the SWI sequence using 3T MRI for the detection of CMB, and its ability to differentiate elderly control subjects (CS), stable mild cognitive impairment patients (MCI-s), MCI patients progressing to AD (MCI-p), and AD patients.

Methods: It was a prospective, monocentric, observational study that took place in Toulouse, France.

Bone age estimation based on multislice computed tomography study of the scapula.

Int J Legal Med

March 2017

Laboratoire d'Anthropologie Moléculaire et Imagerie de Synthèse (AMIS), UMR 5288 CNRS, Faculté de Médecine, 37 Allées Jules Guesde, 31073, Toulouse, France.

Progress in medical imaging has opened new areas of research in forensic anthropology, especially in the context of the study of bone age assessment. The study of bone age has become a useful tool for age estimation at death or age of young adult migrants in an anthropological context. We retrospectively evaluated multislice computed tomography (MSCT) explorations focused on scapulae of 232 individuals (123 males; 109 females) aged between 8 and 30 years old.

Background: Most children with primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) now reach adulthood. However, few studies have evaluated their health status and health-related quality of life (HRQoL).

Objective: To investigate long-term morbidity, the French Reference Center for PIDs initiated a prospective multicenter cohort: the French Childhood Immune Deficiency Long-term Cohort.

People living with HIV and procreation: 30 years of progress from prohibition to freedom?

The emergence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in the 1980s drastically changed the prospects of conceiving a child for the man or woman infected with the virus. Advances in treatment then made it possible to envisage pregnancy while decreasing the risk of transmission to the child when the mother was infected. For couples where one partner was HIV-positive and who desired a child, recourse to medical help, notably medically assisted procreation, was discouraged, and very few centres offered such assistance in the 1980s and 1990s.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study examines the characteristics and outcomes of patients with relapsed or refractory primary CNS lymphoma (PCNSL) who were treated after initial therapy, using data from a French registry between 2011 and 2014.
  • - Out of 563 patients receiving first-line treatment, 256 experienced relapse or refractory disease, with those asymptomatic at relapse showing better outcomes, and salvage therapy plus consolidation leading to longer survival.
  • - Key factors influencing prognosis include performance status, sensitivity to first-line therapy, the duration of initial remission, and type of management following relapse, highlighting that early relapses generally result in worse outcomes compared to late relapses.

Altered chemotactic response to CXCL12 in patients carrying GATA2 mutations.

UMR996 - Inflammation, Chemokines and Immunopathology, Inserm, Univ Paris-Sud, Université Paris-Saclay, Clamart, France;

GATA2 deficiency-formerly described as MonoMAC syndrome; dendritic cells, monocytes, B cells, and natural killer cell deficiency; familial myelodysplastic syndrome/acute myeloid leukemia; or Emberger syndrome-encompasses a range of hematologic and nonhematologic anomalies, mainly characterized by monocytopenia, B lymphopenia, natural killer cell cytopenia, neutropenia, immunodeficiency, and a high risk of developing acute myeloid leukemia. Herein, we present 7 patients with GATA2 deficiency recruited into the French Severe Chronic Neutropenia Registry, which enrolls patients with all kinds of congenital neutropenia. We performed extended immunophenotyping of their whole blood lymphocyte populations, together with the analysis of their chemotactic responses.

Naturally Occurring Resistance-Associated Variants of Hepatitis C Virus Protease Inhibitors in Poor Responders to Pegylated Interferon-Ribavirin.

Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Grenoble, Pôle Biologie, Laboratoire de Virologie, Département des Agents Infectieux, Grenoble, France Université Grenoble Alpes, Unit of Virus Host Cell Interactions UMI 3265 UJF-EMBL-CNRS, Grenoble, France.

The pretherapeutic presence of protease inhibitor (PI) resistance-associated variants (RAVs) has not been shown to be predictive of triple-therapy outcomes in treatment-naive patients. However, they may influence the outcome in patients with less effective pegylated interferon (pegIFN)-ribavirin (RBV) backbones. Using hepatitis C virus (HCV) population sequence analysis, we retrospectively investigated the prevalence of baseline nonstructural 3 (NS3) RAVs in a multicenter cohort of poor IFN-RBV responders (i.

Unlabelled: Congenital neutropenia is a group of genetic disorders that involve chronic neutropenia and susceptibility to infections. These neutropenias may be isolated or associated with immunologic defects or extra-hematopoietic manifestations. Complications may occur as infectious diseases, but also less frequently as myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) or acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

Fifteen patients with severely damaged coronary circulation required temporary intraaortic balloon counterpulsation for pharmacologically uncontrollable chest pain and poor haemodynamic state (hypotension or shock) in connection with the transluminal coronary angioplasty procedure. Twenty-five angioplasties were attempted (1.75 artery stem/patient) with a primary success rate of 96%.
