Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to compare how well arterial phase hyperenhancement (APHE) can be detected in small hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using single arterial phase versus triple hepatic arterial phase MRI, along with different types of contrast agents.
  • - In a sample of 109 cirrhotic patients with 136 HCCs, both single-AP and triple-AP showed similar detection rates for APHE when using extracellular contrast agents (ECA) and hepato-specific agents (HBA), with no significant differences based on patient variables like age or nodule size.
  • - The findings recommend utilizing both single- and triple-AP for liver MRI, emphasizing that early and middle phases of triple-AP are the most

De novo malignancies are one of the major late complications and causes of death after liver transplantation (LT). Using extensive data from the French national Agence de la Biomédecine database, the present study aimed to quantify the risk of solid organ de novo malignancies (excluding nonmelanoma skin cancers) after LT. The incidence of de novo malignancies among all LT patients between 1993 and 2012 was compared with that of the French population, standardized on age, sex, and calendar period (standardized incidence ratio; SIR).

Unlabelled: Dabigatran etexilate, rivaroxaban and apixaban (DOACs) are widely used and measurement of their concentration is desirable in certain clinical situations. Target-specific assays are available but limited information exists on their performance especially in their ability to accurately measure low and high concentrations.

Aims: To define, in a multicenter study, the precision and accuracy of DOAC measurements in daily practice.

Sofosbuvir-based treatment of hepatitis C with severe fibrosis (METAVIR F3/F4) after liver transplantation.

Recurrence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) after liver transplantation (LT) can rapidly lead to liver graft cirrhosis and, therefore, graft failure and retransplantation or death. The aim of the present study was to assess efficacy and tolerance of sofosbuvir (SOF)-based regimens for the treatment of HCV recurrence in patients with severe fibrosis after LT. The Compassionate Use of Protease Inhibitors in Viral C Liver Transplantation (CULPIT) study is a prospective multicenter cohort including patients with HCV recurrence following LT treated with second generation direct antivirals.

Promising immunotherapeutic strategies are emerging to restore tolerance in autoimmune diseases by triggering an increase in the number and/or the function of endogenous regulatory T (Treg) cells, which actively control pathological immune responses. Evidence suggests a remarkable heterogeneity in peripheral Treg cells that warrants their better characterization in terms of phenotype and suppressive function, to determine which subset may be optimally suitable for a given clinical situation. We found that repetitive injections of immature dendritic cells expanded Foxp3-negative CD49b(+) Treg cells that displayed an effector memory phenotype.

Background & Aims: Fibrosing cholestatic hepatitis (FCH) is a life-threatening disorder that develops in patients with recurrent hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection after liver transplantation. Until recently, therapeutic options have been limited. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of sofosbuvir- and daclatasvir-based regimens.

Development of antibodies (Abs) against factor VIII (FVIII) is a severe complication of haemophilia A treatment. Recent publications suggest that domain specificity of anti-FVIII antibodies, particularly during immune tolerance induction (ITI), might be related to the outcome of the treatment. Obtaining suitable tools for a fine mapping of discontinuous epitopes could thus be helpful.

Background: Age of the patients and age of onset of psoriasis may have an impact on the disease. There is little information about psoriasis in elderly patients.

Objective: We evaluated epidemiological, clinical aspects, comorbidities and treatments of psoriasis in the elderly (>70 years) patients, and in patients with very late onset psoriasis (onset ≥ 70 years).

Cell invasion targets specific tissues in physiological placental implantation and pathological metastasis, which raises questions about how this process is controlled. We compare dermis and endometrium capacities to support trophoblast invasion, using matching sets of human primary fibroblasts in a coculture assay with human placental explants. Substituting endometrium, the natural trophoblast target, with dermis dramatically reduces trophoblast interstitial invasion.

1. Despite methodological problems in estimating the true incidence of new-onset diabetes (NODM), it is generally accepted that this is a common complication of liver transplantation (LT), with the mean reported incidence varying between 7% and 30%. 2.

Unlabelled: Acute transverse myelitis is a rare disorder in childhood. It usually occurs as a post-infectious disease, but a precise infectious agent is identified in only 20% of cases.

Observation: The diagnosis of acute transverse myelitis was made in a 5.
