Primipaternity in multiparas as a predominant high risk factor for preeclampsia over prolonged birth intervals: A study of 33,000 singleton pregnancies in Reunion Island.

Objectives: To evaluate the relative importance of changing paternity ("primipaternity", direct inquiry with patients) in multiparas versus prolonged birth/pregnancy interval as risk factors for preeclampsia (PE) by a logistic regression model comparing the adjusted odds ratios of both exposures.

Design: Assessment of all consecutive singleton deliveries (from 22 weeks onwards) at South-Reunion University's maternity (Reunion Island, Indian Ocean) over 23 years (2001-2023) using an epidemiological perinatal database on obstetrical factors (264 items in total, of which, chronic or gestational hypertension, proteinuria, HELLP syndrome).

Results: Among the 53,572 multiparous singleton pregnancies, we identified 33,312 (62%) of multiparas who gave consecutive births, allowing calculation of birth intervals.

[Determinants of human papillomavirus vaccine amongst boys in Reunion Island: Survey of parents and general practitioners].

Objectives: To describe the knowledge, barriers and acceptability factors of parents and general practitioners about HPV vaccination amongst boys in Reunion Island, in order to adapt primary prevention locally.

Methods: This was a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, observational study involving 88 parents of boys aged 11 to 19 and 81 general practitioners based in Reunion Island. Both populations volunteered to answer a questionnaire available online or on paper.

[Pregnancy after intrauterine insemination following hysterosalpingo-foam-sonography or hysterosalpingography].

Objective: To compare clinical pregnancy rates following intrauterine insemination performed after hysterosalpingography (HSG) or hysterosalpingo-foam-sonography (HyFoSy).

Material And Methods: This is a retrospective study including 242 intrauterine insemination (IUI) performed between 2015 and 2020 at the fertility center of the Reunion Island. Among these inseminations, 121 with previous HSG and 121 with previous HyFoSy were matched.

Methods: This was a descriptive, cross-sectional observational study involving 185 adult women with menstrual periods living in Reunion Island. Women volunteered to answer an online self-questionnaire proposed by healthcare professionals from January to May 2023 in Reunion Island.

[Determinants of papillomavirus vaccination in Mayotte: A qualitative study among general practitioners].

Objectives: In Mayotte, cervical cancer represents the second cause of cancer mortality in women. Vaccination coverage against papillomavirus and screening rates are difficult to quantify but among the lowest in France. Added to this is an under-calibrated health system, which does not allow optimal treatment of cancers on site.

Intracranial pressure monitoring with and without brain tissue oxygen pressure monitoring for severe traumatic brain injury in France (OXY-TC): an open-label, randomised controlled superiority trial.

Background: Optimisation of brain oxygenation might improve neurological outcome after traumatic brain injury. The OXY-TC trial explored the superiority of a strategy combining intracranial pressure and brain tissue oxygen pressure (PbtO) monitoring over a strategy of intracranial pressure monitoring only to reduce the proportion of patients with poor neurological outcome at 6 months.

Methods: We did an open-label, randomised controlled superiority trial at 25 French tertiary referral centres.

The etiology of the pregnancy syndrome preeclampsia is still unclear, while most hypotheses center on the placenta as the major contributor of the syndrome. Especially changes of the placental metabolism, including the use of glucose to produce energy, are important features. As an example, inositol phosphoglycan P-type molecules, second messengers involved in the glucose metabolism of all cells, can be retrieved from maternal urine of preeclamptic women, even before the onset of clinical symptoms.

Rationale: Limited information is available on the clinical status of people with Cystic Fibrosis (pwCF) carrying 2 nonsense mutations (PTC/PTC). The main objective of this study was to compare disease severity between pwCF PTC/PTC, compound heterozygous for F508del and PTC (F508del/PTC) and homozygous for F508del (F508del+/+).

Methods: Based on the European CF Society Patient Registry clinical data of pwCF living in high and middle income European and neighboring countries, PTC/PTC (n = 657) were compared with F508del+/+ (n = 21,317) and F508del/PTC(n = 4254).

Preeclampsia in 2023: Time for preventing early onset- and term preeclampsia: The paramount role of gestational weight gain.

The 2023 goal is to halve the incidence of preeclampsia worldwide to reach 3 million cases per year vs the current approximately 7 million cases. Preventive treatment by low dose aspirin only halves the incidence of early-onset preeclampsia (EOP < 34 weeks gestation) in high-risk women. However, 90% of PE cases are the late onset form (LOP, 34 weeks onward) proportionally associated with increasing maternal pre-pregnancy BMI.

Robotic surgery implementation in an isolated overseas territory - The case of Reunion Island.

Introduction: In February 2020, robotic surgery was introduced in University Hospital of St Pierre in Reunion Island. The aim of this study was to evaluate the implementation of robotic assisted surgery in the hospital and its impact on operating times and patient outcomes.

Methods: Data was prospectively collected on patients undergoing laparoscopic robotic assisted surgery between February 2020 and February 2022.
